Another standard lame reply from US Embassy Islamabad:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Our record indicates that the subject immigrant visa case is still pending under administrative processing. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to predict as to how long it still may take. However as soon as this process has completed, we will contact the applicant using the contact information he has provided on his form DS-230. If he has not heard from our office after six months, please have him contact our office using the web based email form available on the website of the American Embassy.

Yours truly,

Immigrant Visa Unit

Consular Section, American Embassy

Islamabad, Pakistan

Irony is they wrote HE to address my wiferanting33va.gif

SM2010,

Yes American Express is the same as Speed-Ex. You should write the letter and send the birth certificates to your husband then he will forward them to the embassy.

Ridacat I am so sorry but you are not alone there are other cases that are in AP 2 years or longer. Just keep praying and waiting it's all any of us can do.

DOS told me today once again to not go by the date changes in the ceac website. I was told that the case is active and open etc. However told I was told something that I didnt hear from them before, the person from DOS told me the case is under review. Does anyone know what exactly he means by under "review"? Im guessing security checks?

I am very confused. I checked the ceac website today and it shows the last time the case status was updated was April 25th. I called DOS and she said the case is being worked on now and the last status update is today May 24th. Who would you believe the ceac website or DOS?

I pray DOS is right!

I hope DOS isr right also :) hopefully we will all hear something good soon.

How does one know if he is in AP?

I had my interview this week and submitted my passports.

I was told I will get the visa etc in 2 weeks.

After reading some of the comments, its a bit scary.

It doesn't sound like your in AP. They would've given you a paper stating that they need to do administrative processing and they would've verbally said something on the same line.

The ceac updates each time someone responds to your inquiry. It doesn't update the same minute, but check it later and it should show the date that you called DOS and asked about your case (May 24, 2013). I also think they work on your case and don't update the ceac. Those status updates must show something else (agencies inquiring on your case information, being moved into another stage of AP), not just work in general. who really knows though :(

USCIS I-130 Petition for Spouse

September 2012: Filed from abroad to Chicago Lockbox

4 days later: NOA1, Routed to California Service Center

7 days later: Transferred because of new jurisdiction

5 days later: Case Status changed to: Under processing at USCIS office

NOA2 arrived 78 days after NOA1 :)

*I-130 Approval Notice hardcopy finally received in Pakistan, the only notice that arrived.

I don't trust anything unless it's written. I trust the site more. Remember, recently we had VJ memeber whose status updated to visa issued jus 2 days before he received a call to pick up his passport? This makes me think if they work on it, touch your file etc it gets updated right away. It also appears to get updated every time we send in an inquiry or if someone else on our behalf sends one. It appears that anytime our case is opened it gets updated.

On the ceac website my case is still showing April 25th it doesn't show May 24th when I called DOS.

I tend to trust DOS more then the website. I will call back Tuesday and see what the next visa specialist says.
