Hello, I have a 10 year green card since 2015 - I was 22 years old at the time and just graduated from a UK university and have been living and working in the UK since (didn't file any tax returns which is really bad and I think will work against me). I have entered the US in 2015 to get my green card but left after a few weeks. I have also entered the US in 2020 before Covid hits to visit my sister (the CBP did ask me why I was gone for so long and gave me a warning but lets me through). I was there for around a month before leaving for the UK. I have tried applying for jobs in the US throughout these years but didn't manage to get any offers let alone any interviews. However, I started applying to jobs in the US recently and have been getting interviews and I think I'm close to getting a job offer. I want to ask if I manage to get a US job offer and fly to the US with my green card, will there be a high chance that CBP will deemed that I have abandoned my LPR and issue me with a notice to appear before an immigration judge? If so, what do you think are the chances of the judge deeming that I have abandoned my LPR? Thank you very much for your help. -
Sister of my father sponsored us via F4 category and we went to US in 2015 and in just 3 months we got GC and then for some family reasons we had to come back and never returned to US till date (August 2022) I have not applied for SB-1 because that is high prone to rejection. I am 29 yo now and my GC has not yet expired. I wish to return now I have my Aunt still there and an Uncle too. What are my chances I get admitted into US without any trouble and I keep my GC as well? Someone suggested to go to Canada first and try to enter by land. Is that so easy? Won't they have some proof of me when did I leave US last time? The passport i traveled with last time (which has US entry/exit) stamps, has expired, I will have a new passport, does this thing help or make my chances worse? -
My family got green card in 2016 we are 5 family members 5 of us got the green cards.. but they do not want to go back .. except me .. when i got my green card i was studying and financially dependent on the family since they dont want to go back they dont want me to go also.. in the mean time i did business as an artist collected money learned a skill to go on my own. In the meantime covid hit my family hard , we are a family of doctors and after that my mother had a knee surgery and few months after that i had a road accident all of which is documented .. i'll be entering US via JFK what should i be prepared for?

Please recommend an experienced immigration lawyer to handle my case in front of judge. I’ve had a green card (LPR) for many years and was out of the US for 5 months this time (and also out of the US for 7 months just before that, not great, I know). At the land border to enter the US, they sent me to secondary inspection: they wanted to take my green card (10 year LPR car) which I refused. I was blocked there for 5 hours. They then gave me a “Notice to Appear” (NTA) in front of an immigration judge in 1 month where I can defend myself. Can someone please recommend an experienced immigration lawyer to handle the case? (ideally not too far from the immigration court which is Hartford, Connecticut, but I guess lawyers from other neighboring states could represent me there too…) It was not a pleasant experience. Any help in getting an experienced lawyer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance,- 11 replies

My father petition my immigration file in December 2016 (i.e F2B). He became US citizen in July 2022. I’ve submitted DS260 & All my Documents in September 2022 to NVC. I got reply from NVC in November stated that “The citizenship status for the petitioner was changed but the visa class was not converted to an F11 because the case would have received a less favorable cutoff date”. plz help me what should I do

Hi, Newbie here who needs some advice. My petitioner was LPR then became a citizen. After submitting docs to NVC sent a message opting out of automatic visa class change due to the new circumstance. My case has been in review this week, so NVC sent a message to say that they will retain my application under F24 since it wouldn’t be beneficial for me to change. A day later and now my application has moved from being processed and is showing the message ‘due to numerical limitations case cannot be processed’ and the visa class has changed to F11. Feeling very frustrated as I was waiting for DQ and contacting NVC takes months even though I’ve made a public inquiry already.… I cannot even see any documents we submitted just my name, paid and completed. Is this a glitch, does anyone have the same experience, what next for me? -
Me along with my whole family went to USA in 2015. At that time, I was 16. After three months we had to return to Pakistan as we had our grandparents in critical situation. Even after they passed away, we never returned to US again. Now its 2022, I'm 23 and thinking of going back to USA. My green card is still valid (passport I traveled with has expired). I wanted to know that if I am still eligible to enter US without any problems with my green card and new passport?
