Dubai Police Clearance

hi. I am new here.

I worked in Dubai for 2 years (2010-2012) but now living in the Philippines. My question is do I still have to get a Dubai Police clearance to present for my K1 interview?

Hi, yes. Police certificates are required from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for 6 months or more since age 16 (except the U.S.).

Police certificates are only available for those who are physically present in the UAE.

So, in your case it won't be necessary because the CO will most likely be aware of this fact.

You can obtain a police certificate from dubai, even if you are not resident any more. I got a friend to do this on my behalf. I had to first get my finger prints taken in London, then legalized by the UK foreign office, then by the UAE embassy in the UK, and then I sent them out to Dubai for my friend to take care of. As with most things in Dubai/UAE its was overly bureaucratic, and involved multiple trips by my friend to the police and govt ministry in UAE as the officials there didn't know the correct rules/procedures and repeatedly gave incorrect information (they insisted that the UK embassy in Dubai had to stamp the fingerprints - something they would never do). As is normal in UAE, you just keep trying until you wear them down.

Because of the difficulty in obtaining UAE police certificates the US govt advises that a waiver be given, but this cannot be guaranteed. It is more likely to be issued where you haven't spent too long in the UAE, as in your case. If you've been born or brought up there, then more likely that they won't give waiver.

Dubia is a waiver country, you can not get the police clearance unless there in person. CO at USEM knows this so will not ask for it.

No. Dubia is a waiver country - thus no police certificate. For the Philippines police certificates are only needed from foreign countries.

This is incorrect. You can obtain certificates even if you are outside the country and no longer present. I did it. See also

As from your text, the waiver is only a recommendation. In my friend's case he'd been born in the UAE and spent the first 25 or so of his 27 years living there - despite being a Bangladeshi citizen he'd never been to Bangladesh (you can't gain UAE citizenship just by being born there or living there for many years). He also had to obtain an Indian certificate (where he was presently living) and I believe one from Bangladesh, even though he'd never been there.

In OPs case he (like me) was only there a few years, so the waiver should not be a problem.

You for some, unknown, reason decided to find a work around instead of accepting it is not required by the embassy and contacted a friend who was still in country... thus in person. The normal person simply accepts it isn't required and forgets about it.

In the case I described, my friend was told a waiver was only a recommendation, but in his case he'd been born and spent most of his life in the UAE and therefore a certificate was required. They suggested he attend UAE police station in person, but he no longer had a UAE visa, so was able to obtain it from outside the country (as I did). This was around 2.5 years ago. If anyone finds themselves in this situation (eg finds this post in google) I'm happy to help them through the process.

You are missing the POINT! Police Certificate IS NOT REQUIRED from Dubia ......
