I just wrote a paragraph on where, when and how we met. Signed and dated it. It doesn't have to be very formal.

hahaha, it's true, just tell how it happened.

i wouldn't include all of the "lovey dovey" details. give dates, places, etc. and you'll be answering the question. most people don't seem to write more than a page (if that).

i second the truth! making it more or less then it is or was only clouds the issues and raises eyebrows. We met online at a website and she interested me enought to travel to meet, and I told them just that.

I did not want to have any extra attachments for them to lose... so I was able to describe how we met using the 4 "long" lines inside the acrobat form... keep typing and the form will wrap around... I made mine short and sweet... and sent in lots of evidence of meeting in person... visa stamps, Thai Visa, airline ticket stubs, luggage tags, hospital visit in Thailand, rent receipt....and then pictures of course... good luck!!!

You need to definetly talk about how you met in person but I'd start off with how you met initially.

In order to be eligible for the k1 visa you have to have met in person in the past 2 years so that is why you need to include that.

I just wrote that we met on xx date in xx place and that I was living there. I gave the date I left Brazil, the date I returned, and for how long my stay was. My last paragraph was of my last trip and the dates I was there.

No extra info - just facts and dates (they correspond with my proof of having met in the past 2 years).

Told them where we met (initially) then how we met in person, dates and some little details... just make sure you can provide supporting documents that will correspond to what you'll write...

I took a whole page and told our story. At the interview it was clear that the consular officer had read our how-we-met story that I included so mainly I wrote it for him and anyone else that needed to be convinced of our relationship's validity. It's a chance to show your relationship is real, so I'd write a bit, but that's just me. There are many ways to do it as long as you describe meeting in the last two years.

Thank you so much for the info. Now I feel a lot confident about going through this process without a lawyer!!!! This website is really cool. =)

Not trying to be smug or anything. but ...

here's a copy of a letter similar to mine. I have changed a few details:

[your name and full address]

[full adddress of the embassy in the country where the beneficiary is]

[date]

Dear Sir or Madam,

[beneficiary's name] and I met when s/he first came to the United States on a visitor visa to visit his/her friend. At the time I worked at the same law firm as [beneficiary's name] brother. [beneficiary's name] brother and his wife used to invite me to spend time with them in their condo on the beach during the weekends and one day I met [beneficiary's name].

After [beneficiary's name] left we started communicating in [date] and have only stopped to eat since. We’ve talked many times online and on the phone and love each other very, very much and want to get married.

Proof of us meeting (and are attached) include:

• photos

• phone logs

• stamped envelopes from [country]

• FTD receipt of flowers I sent [beneficiary's name]

[beneficiary's name] also has further proof which can be provided upon request.

Yours very truly,

your name
