Hello Visa Journey Folks,

My fiance just picked up her visa from 2go today! Yaaaay! But with that said we noticed there is a small tear on the upper left corner of the front page of the immigration packet.

I very carefully opened the packet to take out the passport but its completely in tact and the paperwork or yellow folder were never touched. I am 100% sure it came with the tear from the embassy.

Our flight leaves tomorrow so we dont have time to go back to the embassy to fix it. Will this cause huge problems at POE, or is this something they deal with all the time?

Thanks!

Is the tear only on the separate paper that came with the packet? They (CBP at POE) are only concerned with the SEALED Do-NOT-OPEN brown envelope. So if it's just the paper, it won't be an issue at all. :)

Unfortunately the tear is on the upper left corner of the first page inside the yellow folder (left side of yellow folder is open intentionally and shows the left corners of paper)

That's right, one corner of the envelope has a cut. Would you mind posting a picture showing how the tear looks like?

Heres a picture of the tear. Its pretty obvious looking, but its almost as if the embassy purposely stapled the tear to place it back. Not sure whats going on there but we have no choice but to explain that it was recieved like that.post-183186-0-00100000-1403543574_thumb.jpg

Seems like the tear is only on the first page and nothing on the next pages? It looks like the DS-160 confirmation page. The tear seems like it was stapled and then torn, so I highly doubt it was an in-transit defect (by 2Go). So personally, I don't think it will be a concern at POE.

Yes it is only the first page and i believe youre correct that it is the DS160 confirmation page. I appreciate your help and support. Yea its really strange because it looks like it was an intentional tear. The corner of the page is stapled and folded to be perfectly aligned with the rest of the paperwork. Who knows what those embassy folks were doing! Anyway wish me luck! :)

One corner is always cut away on the DO NOT OPEN envelope, and a small tear should not be an issue, a large tear where the papers could be accessed is the big issue. Keep the envelope protected inside the plastic bag and in your carry on ... have safe travels.

Here's another question for you... should my fiance bring the tear to the attention of the customs officer at POE, or should she wait for/if he says something?

Never volunteer anything ;)

When you fiancee get to the Immigrant counter she should hand the packet to the officer, plastic bag and all... then stand back and watch them tear is open :)

Hank, like always, you were correct :) The officer took the packet and just went to town tearing it open, didn't even take a second to look at the tear. Now im officially in the U.S with my fiance!!, what a great feeling of accomplishment at last. Now onto the next stage of marriage and AOS! Im sure you'll be hearing from me soon!

Hi! I just got my visa packet and I notice a slight damage one the envelope. I called US embasy Manila and they said that I should send the packet back to them rather than risking this and have a problem in my POE. If i'll send this back to them they don't have a definite time on when will the packet be send back to me. I am torn whether I should send it to them or just risk it, anyway is just a small tear. Please help me.
