My I-130 was finally approved yesterday!! Next step is to send a letter asking them to combine it with my I-485 filing. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter and brighter!

Hey Caramel! So sweet of you to check back in!

Well, it's still a frustrating waiting game. In January, we sent a letter asking for my 130 to be merged with my 485. They gave me a 90-day window for this process, which to no surprise came and went with no action being taken. So, we sent the USCIS a status update request a couple of weeks back and I am waiting to hear back on it. Their 'window' to respond to that request expires next Tuesday.

If I don't hear anything back, it might be time to email my Congressman I am afraid. I have no idea why they are dragging their feet so much. Both my files are at TSC (at least based on the last update in each case) so the merging process should be really straightforward. I guess it is just a case of USCIS being USCIS!

A little, yet major update on my case...

I finally sent an email to check on the status of my AOS case and I think that got things moving. I received a response from SCOPSSCATA earlier this week that they had transferred my I-485 to the NBC. I received a text and email alert this morning that my file has been transferred to the local office. The next step now is testing and interview which looking at cases similar to mine, should happen in a month or so.

The light at the end of the tunnel just got a whole lot brighter!

A little, yet major update on my case...

I finally sent an email to check on the status of my AOS case and I think that got things moving. I received a response from SCOPSSCATA earlier this week that they had transferred my I-485 to the NBC. I received a text and email alert this morning that my file has been transferred to the local office. After months over months of waiting, my time has finally come! I just received my testing and interview text alert. The interview is scheduled for August 4! The end is finally in sight. Needless to say, I am thrilled beyond words!

OMG!!! OMG!!! Blue this is wonderful and superdelicious news.......what a wait....but the end is now in sight...Thank God.

Our thoughts and prayer are with you up to the day of interview and we still have those champagne on ice ready to pop, pop pop!!!

An update on our interview ...

Our interview was scheduled for 8/4/14 at 7:30am. We got there at 7am but the doors were closed. Waited until they opened the doors at 7:15. Walked in through airport style security, dropped out interview letter in the slot and sat in the waiting room. The IO opened the door at 7:30 sharp and called our name. We both stood up, and then he said that only my wife (US citizen) was to go in first. I was a little surprised that we were separated for our very first interview. Though, with everything 'above the table', neither of us were overly concerned. About the only thing I was a little concerned about was whether or not my wife would understand exactly what document to present when asked. I had gone over the packet of information with her, but hadn't gone into all the details since I didn't anticipate being separated.

10 minutes later, the IO was back and called me in. Asked me to remain standing while he administered the oath. Asked me to verify my name and date and place of birth. He only asked me two questions (the same two he asked my wife) - how we met, and how I proposed to her.

He then asked me for my original birth certificate. He only asked my wife for her birth certificate. As far as joint financial go, he only asked for joint tax returns. He did not ask for any other documentation - no passport from me, nor my I-94. I guess he had copies of everything and did not need to see the originals.

Finally, he asked me the typical terrorist/arrest/revolution questions.

Then he said "we have a problem." My heart sank! He said that the computer does not show that my I-130 was approved, which was odd he said. He asked if I had the hard copy notice. I did and also had a copy of it which he kept. He said that he could not approve my AOS until the I-130 issue was resolved and said that he would work on rectifying it. I specifically asked him if my AOS was approved and he said yes.

So, the wait goes on! I have no idea how long it will take to get this issue sorted out. Very pleased with the interview, but still frustrated that the USCIS don't have such elementary things in order.

Yipee, well I'm going to take this news as very good and celebratory (is this a word!!!) news. It was a long journey, but we stood the test of time. The only thing left is for them to get their ducks all in a row, which I'm sure they will sort it out soon, at least you know your adjustment was approved on the spot. Did you check your I-130 status, did it say it was approved on the system?

Keep us in the loop...and hey.... at least you are looking at a 10 year while us saps have to go through this again come a few months.

Thank you so much Caramel! My I-130 shows approved on the USCIS case status website. That is what is so frustrating about this issue. The website says updated, I have a hard copy approval notice, but yet somewhere in some system, the approval is missing.

Oh and I will be in line for ROC as well. Our two year anniversary is this November. So, I'm going to miss out on the 10 year GC by a matter of a couple of months I haven't been home in 7 years and we were planning on making a trip there this December. So, although I would have liked the delay to stretch out to an interview post 2-year anniversary, at this point, I'm just ready to get my card!

FINALLY!!!!! I have good news! I received my green card in the mail today! I literally stared at it for a good hour. It still hasn't sunk in completely that my journey is finally over! At last I can breathe a sigh of relief. The shackles off my ankles have finally been removed.

Next up - removal of conditions in May 2015!

Are you sure ROC is in May 2015? It should be two years (minus 90 days) from the date of card issuance not 2 years from the date of marriage. Just my observation, I could be wrong.

Blue, there are no words to express my excitement, I'm so happy that fiiiiiiinally we are now touching the light at the end of the tunnel.

I only wished they had just made your ROC at the same time with the rest of the gang since you were in the same war, but hey you have your GREEN CARD!!!!
