K-1 visa concerns

I have recently seen that all k-1 visas will be sent to GuangZhou in China. So here's my concern. I've read that they seem very strict about the interview there. I have only met my fiance once in person and that seems to be a problem to get through the visa. Does this mean I should go visit again before she has and interview for the visa? I have no problem with doing so by the way, just concerned if I don't she can't come here. I've known her for over a year and I flew to China and we got engaged March 25th, I met her parents while there as well. Right now I'm awaiting the petition results, it was received on May 14th and sent to the Vermont service center. Seeing this has stressed me out so much, we just want to be together soon..

Thanks

Since you have already started the application, the second visit before her interview won't help that much. if you have enough evidences to prove, there won't be a problem. But again, luck matters sometimes, so Good luck

Thanks!

I sent in pictures from the visit, several gift receipt copies, months worth of phone records through skype, all my purchase records in china, and all my flight and hotel records from the visit. I sent a pic with her parents too. I know when she has the interview she needs to bring in more things to prove that the relationship was still going, wouldn't a second visit help with that? She could bring pictures in from the second visit to show I was there since the petition. She will have a card from our anniversary to bring but what else could she bring to prove that the relationship is still ongoing?

My petition just approved and going to NVC, I met my fiance once and we engaged, we have more than 7000 messages in the facebook and skype almost everyday. I don't think the meeting while the papers in process will be a big deal, cause you have sent evidences and i don't think they need a lot of evidence from your fiancee unless they can accept the same evidences.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

No matter what other evidence of relationship you have, the evidence of time spent together in person, is by far the strongest. By all means, go see your fiancee again, whether in the middle or at the end of the process. Whatever works for you. Minimum requirements for getting a petition filed and approved have been met but an approved petition is far from an approved visa.

How long was your first visit? Are there other concerns or red flags in your relationship? All this makes a difference.

First visit was 9 days, we stayed in a hotel together in the city she went to school. Her parents came to meet me for two days of the visit, they were happy about the engagement because their daughter was happy and in love with me. We talk online for around 10-12 hours a day, from when we wake up til one of us needs sleep and vice versa. We've known each other for over a year.

Great. I'm sure you'll enjoy your next visit. FYI, although Guangzhou requires two Chinese characters, it is only one word, so the Pinyin I'm using to spell it is correct including the capitalization.

Alright thank you, you've made me feel better about this process. I know through the Vermont service center it usually takes 5 months so I'm expecting the petition to go through in October. Do you know about how long it will take after that or know a site I could find out? I want to be able to plan when I can have the next visit. Thanks again.

For Guangzhou, you can expect the interview to be around three months after petition approval. All the timeline information is right here on VJ. Time to start your timeline.

Another visit obviously won't make the case any stronger to get NOA2 from USCIS, but it couldn't hurt to be able to claim two visits at the interview, when that time comes, as pushbrk mentions, (plus you will enjoy seeing your fiancee again!:D ). See most recent Guangzhou review by jregister (for K1 visa, BTW), question 4, she mentions, was about visits of fiance to China (she answered twice). Not saying it's necessary, but it couldn't hurt, and you would enjoy it obviously (if it's something your budget can handle). Best wishes on your journey.

Do you think visiting the week of the interview is good? I read I cant go in with her but she could bring my passport in as proof i came to support her. I'm thinking either go around November or right around the interview time.

I was refering to the interview for the visa not the NOA2. I saw that review and another website talking about it and it said one visit is no visa. But like said a lot of ky is luck they may not even ask her that question. But I want to be safe and do everything I can to get her here.

I'm sure you got some pictures of when you met with her parents, and I've heard that is some of the strongest evidence that can be presented, and you already have that (I didn't meet my Fiancee's parents until my third visit). So maybe one visit is on pretty safe ground, because you have that visit with the parents?

You heard wrong. The strongest evidence of a bona fide relationship is evidence of time spent together. Photos from one visit ARE evidence of time spent together but it's the time, not the photos that matter.
