Meeting each other just once ...

Hy everyone. I don't know if it's the right place but I woke up this morning with a big concern. This is our second time filling the I-129F petition. We got denied the first time because we didn't meet each other within the 2 years prior or 5 years prior filing (if I can just add that) because I have been in school and we both didn't have the financial means. And we have known each other for more than 10 years. We've been close friends and we have been seeing each other regularly before I came to the US permanently.

The first petition was in January 2011. We met each other in July 2011 and decided to file again in February 2012. And we haven't met each other since.

My question is Wil this have an impact on the decision they will make the day of the interview? We would do practically anything we can to save our relationship and be finally together forever and we are really trying to see the long wait positively.

But Has this happen to anyone else and Did you still get an approval?

Please let me know, guys, either based what you've personally experienced, heard, or just think. I would greatly appreciate your input.

As a norm, it shouldn't (and it won't) in terms of the petition approval; however I believethat at the Interview stage, it will play against you, in Haiti specifically....but I'm not 100% positive.

Thanks for your input. I am really really concern because it's been a long wait putting both petitions together. I was leading towards what you said regarding the petition approval vs the approval during the interview. I hope others give me their input as well, as you mentioned. Thanks again.

Yeah, I suggested the Haiti Filers posts because I seem to remember that, while it may not be a big deal for other Embassies, Haiti's may have an issue and you should be prepared.

To be on the safe side, I suppose that, your best course of action would be to go visit as soon as possible... after all, if it's been that long, I can only imagine you'll be thrilled to spend a few days together! You have time!

I agree with Celeste. It's not an automatic denial or anything, but it will make your case more difficult to approve at interview. Knowing eachother for ten years but only meeting twice in the last 5 years will seem odd to the CO. Be prepare with lots and lots of other bonafide evidence (phone bills, emails, chat logs, affidavit from friends and family etc) and, ideally go to visit at least once more or even better twice (once during the process and again for the interview).

Yep it's been a long time. With nursing school, it was extremely difficult, not to say impossible and he understood that, thanks God. But now that I'm done, I'm considering doing so before the interview.

Thanks a lot for your input. I turn to VJ because had I done so the first time, I would be most likely in my fiancé's arms now. I don't wanna regret later because the wait is painful. I will make sure that we bring everything we have for the interview and I will be most definitely planning a trip to Haiti. Thanks again
