Early Biometric Appearance Issue?

Hello All,

I am writing this on behalf of my brother. He is on 2 years conditional GC (through marriage to an USC). Everything looks good he applied in March 2011 and he received his one year extension with his Biometric letter. He has a really important project from work scheduled on this day when his biometric appointment is and he has to leave and go to New York (he lives in San Francisco CA) . He can NOT miss /delay or postponed this meeting/project.

Questions are:

• If he appears at his appointment 2/3 weeks early as some of you good people are mentioning, you did, is it going to affect negative on his status?

• He thinks or his wife has told him if he goes there early they (DHS) might think why this person is in such rush and might delay his paperwork?

• Have any of you good people experienced things like this?

• Finally do you ‘’experts’’ think going there earlier will expedite or delay the process?

Your valuable ideas – feedback – experience details will help him go through this. He is really looking forward into this work project.

Walk-ins are done often. He can bring his appointment letter and explain the situation.

The only effect on processing that I can imagine is that his file may be handled earlier, and the personnel who process the biometrics on the "other end" (at USCIS) might go ahead and adjudicate the file.

We went early with the appointment notice and asked if they could do it. There was over 125 chairs in that room and one person sitting waiting on someone. The people doing the biometrics were just standing around talking. It was around 1:30 in the afternoon. I chatted with the lady checking papers that I thought they would be super busy since it took 2 months for them to schedule the appointment. She said the mornings are packed. So go in the afternoon when they are less likely to be busy.

I don't think it will delay. I think it just ticks the next thing off the list and you go back in the queue for whatever comes next.

My husband did a walk in yesterday in Raleigh, NC and they didn't even look at the date or question him as to why he was trying to do biometrics 2 weeks before his scheduled date. Someone asked the same question about early biometrics in San Francisco and it seems they were able to do it. Click here

I don't think it affects your application negatively. More likely it helps you get your card sooner. Good luck.

i dont think you will have any problems at all. i remember when i went in for the first biometrics when i had applied for AOS. In fact, i know another couple in the area going through the same process, and they had their biometrics 2 weeks before mine, but i went in on the same day as them. and in the end, i got my GC the same time as them too! so i know for me it sped up the process by 2 weeks for me!!
