You can take it out the box, and just put it in your suitcasE! just make sure it doesnt get flattened during the trip :) you wont be questioned unless you bring a box of unused shoes which looks like you will sell it, if its your shoes you should be ok :)

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

its more on boots and heels.. like 30 pairs..

Hi !

I have pretty much the same problem :D

I'm thinking about sending them all in one big box :( ( i'll miss the original boxes so much, i like keeping them in those ) !

And it is not fair we can't carry like a lot of luggage once we're about to move to USA , they should make something like that for us ! I mean, we're moving our whole life in a suitcase girlwerewolf2xn.gif!!!

As long as they are used I would put each pair wrapped in a single thin plastic bag (to prevent scuffing with shoes of other colors)

and put the lot of them in one of those large duffel bags you can buy anywhere. No point in putting them in one or more "samsonite-like"

suitcases as they are used shoes. That may save you more on the shipping overage. Most airlines charge flat fees for an additional

bag, but if you pay the fee online before departure you will probably get a discount (my wife flew BA to BKK and found about that too

late) so I registered the second bag online before her return to NY and there was a discount for doing it that way with a credit card.

PS - because you will most likely have another bag crammed with clothing & other stuff, you might want to put small things

like socks & underwear in baggies inside the otherwise empty shoes which will allow you to cram more stuff into your other

suitcase. I'm sure Imelda Marcos did something like that when she traveled whistling.gif

Putting small things inside is not only an efficient packing method it helps the shoes keep their shape when your bag ends up at the bottom of 20 tons of luggage.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

i like the Imelda Marcos comment. Haha! Thanks for posting this thread, was wondering myself. Although I'd prolly just leave some behind because I have tons of other stuff that I gotta bring.

I am too lazy to google just yet, how much are flat rates for an extra luggage if you register it ahead of time? What is cheaper, that one or sending it ahead via sea freight? From my last check, sea cargo is about $150.

I'm sure that Imelda had an entourage of young filipina's at her disposal to hand carry each pair of shoes that she traveled with. :o

I forget what it was exactly but BA charged around $60 at the airport and it was $40 or $45 pre-approved online.

Forget sea cargo, she checked shipping companies in BKK and they were way over what the online bag check was.

Shipping companies are "services" so for anything like that there's a huge markup.

Thanks! That is way cheaper then :) In lieu of luggages, I was thinking of just bringing boxes to make room for more stuff. Gotta cram everything in! :)

To Ilovemybaby: Sorry for hijacking your thread. LOL. Yeah, leave the boxes to save space, put stuff inside your shoes to retain their shape. If you go to Saizen in Trinoma (that's near your place right?) they have cheap shoe bags you can buy to protect your shoes from scuffing.
