Hi everyone,

My fiance (beneficiary)is moving this weekend. It's a local move for him, the place he rents now is being sold. Does anyone know what I have to do, if anything, regarding his change of address?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You might want to call USCIS and let them know, but personally I would wait until the packet reaches the consulate and let them know about your fiance's new address simply so they know where to send packet 3.

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)

Going to piggy back on this topic. I've submitted P3 and am waiting for my interview (which is taking an agonizingly long time).

I'm moving, and I'm trying to read and decipher instructions on USCIS website for change of address and it's confusing.

a. I can call and change my address

b. I can submit online

c. I fill out AR-11?? (but I don't live in the US..)

Do I have to do one or all of these?

And does this change my address with the consulate?

Should I also email the consulate with the address change?

I'm doing this in advance of moving at the end of the month. I can currently receive mail at my new address.

Finally, my P3 (DS-160) will have a different address than the other forms I'm bringing to the interview. I hope this is OK.

Thanks for the help

Ok, in trying to find out an answer. I just called USCIS' 1-800 number that is specified to call for change of address.

This is what I found out: If you have a pending application (which is my case)

Then to update the change of address for the beneficiary you:

Need to send a letter to your local office or service center (for me that is VSC)

In that letter provide the beneficiary's new address, but in the letter ALSO INCLUDE BOTH the Petitioner and Beneficiary's Names, Date of Births, and Receipt # for the pending application.

By the time the case is approved, the beneficiary's address will have been updated in the system and that information will be forwarded to the beneficiary's consulate.

Hope that helps!

I followed this exact procedure to the letter (excuse the pun) and the USCIS *FAILED* to update my fiance's address. How did I figure it out? I observed the time stretching beyond the typical timeframes (long as they are), and had her physically visit the Consulate "info window". They confirmed the address was never updated and consequently, the "packet 3" was sent to the old address. Probably cost us only about a week, since we were on top of it, but be careful if you have to update such an address change with the USCIS. Clearly, they are not running the tightest of ships. Hope *THAT* helps someone!

Once you receive your NOA2, USCIS is out of the picture, until the beneficiary enters the US. The consulate is the one that sends the packet to your beneficiary so you need to worry about correcting the address with them.

NOA1 - 12/21/15

NOA2 - 04/18/16

NVC Receive - 04/29/16

NVC Welcome - 05/13/16

DS-261 - 05/14/16

AOS, IV PAID - 05/27/16

DS260 done - 06/10/16

Case Transferred to US Embassy in Riga Latvia at the end of October.

If you really want it, you'll find a way!

VJ Moderation

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
