Spent more than an hour in the Immigration office where IOs dealt with 5-6 entrants back and forth, delaying the process of having other entrants be cleared. It was frustrating, especially to first-time US entrants travelling alone, like me.
Missed my flight to San Diego because of this. Informing the IO about a scheduled flight wouldn't affect how they go about their processes (one Chinese kid told an IO that he has a flight leaving soon but IO said, in a condescending tone, "Well then, you'll miss your flight. I'll get to you when I get to you.").
Missed flights can be rescheduled just as long as the airline is informed that the delay was caused by being held up in the CBP. Not everyone travelling to the US the first time knows about this fact so imagine how these people would feel when placed in such a situation. |

We were taken to a small room, wife was called up to desk and asked a few questions then her passport was stamped. Took about 5 minutes, but could take longer depending on how many people are in there. |
