We were there about 45 minutes early and the woman would NOT check us in until 30 minutes before the appointment. I think she said the system wouldn't let her check us in earlier. No big deal. We took a seat for 15 minutes, went back up again and she checked us in, gave us a number and told us to sit by a particular window. Within minutes we were called to that window for a photo and fingerprints (only the index fingers this time). Then they directed us to another waiting area for the actual interview. There we sat for maybe 10 minutes. They had monitors with numbers displaying and people would get up and go to where the monitor directed them. But for us... this woman came out unannounced and walked right up to us and addressed my wife by name. She clearly saw my wife's photos from the paperwork already available to her. She led us to her office and then the interview got underway. The first thing she did was have us both take the oath. Then she began asking my wife questions. During the entire interview she asked me only one question. She asked me how many siblings my wife had and then my job was done for the day. My wife, on the other hand, was asked somewhere in the neighborhood of 30-35 questions... assorted shapes and sizes. The woman was VERY polite and nice but I was surprised by the number of questions when others on this website seemed to suggest they got only a few questions. I guess it just depends on the agent you get. Again, the agent we had was very nice. We both liked her very much. Some of the questions I can recall are: 1) What is the color of our shower curtain? 2) How many bathrooms and bedrooms in our apartment? 3) How many sibings does your husband have? 4) Does your husband have a good relationship with your mom and son? 5) When and where did he propose? Then the agent picked a select number of those yes/no questions on the I-485 form and asked them. The only glitch was they had to redo her photo and fingerprints because of some system issue. My wife was worried it was something about her fingerprints that messed something up. We had three agents huddled around the computer trying to diagnose the problem. They reassured my wife it had nothing to do with her. I thought they were going to do a third try at the photos and fingerprints when suddenly the issue was resolved. The other two agents left and our agent said we were approved, explained the ROC process and we were done. The key is to relax. My wife was rather nervous, misstated some things, etc. but our agent was very understanding. No need to be nervous. I don't think they're looking to deny you. They're just making sure you really are a couple. 2024-03-19

We brought our mortgage document, documentation that he is the benefactor of my life insurance and TSP (retirement account for government employees), dental and health insurance cards, joint savings account, photos of our trips in the US and Philippines (he used his AP before our interview), marriage documents, photos of us with my and his family and a copy of our I-864. The interviewer mostly asked my spouse questions about his life, our wedding, what I do and where I work, how much I make and made last year, if we were filing our taxes together, why he wasn’t working at that time, what my family’s and his family’s reactions about getting married (we are a same-sex couple), if we had problems communicating (I grew up in the Philippines so Tagalog was not a problem for me and he stressed we were the same age so and have a lot in common) and if we were related (we have the same last name). The interview was about 20 mins and if my spouse didn’t know the answer to a question, the interviewer would ask me to explain instead. At the end of the interview, the interviewer congratulated us and my spouse got his GC after a week. 2020-05-07

JV & JR K1 Los Angeles CA 2019-10-07 2019-10-16 2019-11-06 2020-01-15 2020-01-15 Yes 2020-01-24 The Interview went well with my wife. The officer interview my wife(applicant) first, she ask the passport of my wife and my ID, I gave the officer my state ID and US passport then, the officer ask personal information to my wife. Mostly whatever you see on your AOS form application. From her name, b-date, till the last page of that AOS form, like name of the parents, place of birth, current address. etc. So just study the AOS form that you submitted. Then the officer ask both of us, how we met, what year, and then ask us our Marriage Cert, our joint records, like bank statements that has our names on it, least of our house, I provided also life insurance and my beneficiary is my wife. Also she ask the date or our marriage, what place we went on our honeymoon. Then pictures, we have lots of pictures like 80 but the officer took only 12. My pay stubs and employment letter wasn't ask though. But the officer saw the direct deposit from the company I work with on our join bank statement. That might be the reason she didn't ask about the pay stubs and employment letter. Then the officer ask us to wait 10 mins for the decision. Then 10 mins later my wife got approved! It was easy, ask long us you prep everything. 2024-04-09
