Review Topic: K1 Visa

Very quick and easy - asked me where my fiance was from in the US, what she did for a living before she moved to New York from Ohio, if I'd ever been to Ohio?
Asked me to prove my financial situation and showed them a print out of my bank records showing my own savings.
Took 20 minutes to look over my documents and then approved my visa - got it back a week later!

My interview was at 11:30am, there were many queues already when I got there around10:40am, I went to the check in counter outside, was told to
come back at 11:00am. (You need to get signed by check counter person on the DS-160 foam ) I was asked to queue by the wall until you were called. (You will need to get DS-160 foam, Appointment letter and passport out ready and hand these in at the check in counter :-)

I was called in before security check to wait on the side as I were for K1 interview. (The most of the people queuing were not for K1 interview) Then a lady told me once I go through the security check, there would beanother queue to the main counter, just don't queue and speak to the person at the front desk straight away and show the DS-160 foam. It was very awkward and uncomfortable as people on the queue were staring at me as I looked like I was skipping the queue! I spoke to the gentleman at the desk, however there seems IT issues at the time, the PC w... read complete review

My appointment was at 9.30. I arrived at 9.00. There is an outside desk to queue at, which is on the left side of the building, as you look from Nine Elms Road.

There was a separate line of people along the wall when I arrived, who had been told to wait there.
I was told to come back at 9.15.
At 9.15, I was sent forward to the queue to enter the building, which is just a room for security. After clearing that, you go through to the large courtyard.
Next is a queue to enter the main building. Once inside, a lady asked if there was anyone for immigration, so I was able to skip the queue.
My DS-160 was stickered, and I was directed to the lifts and to booths 20-21.
There are seats next to each booth, and there are screens which bing whenever the next number comes up. The numbers are also shown above each booth.

When my number was shown, I went to the window. The guy was friendly, and I think he had a slight American accent. ... read complete review

7.30am train to Paddington, tube on to Vauxhall. 9 minute walk to the embassy past a handy Tesco Express :-)

I arrived 30 minutes early and had to wait a little. At the outside kiosk, I was asked for my passport and DS160. I was then taken straight through past a massive line of other visa people, straight through security. I had a bottle of water in my rucksack and I was asked to take a sip of it in front of the security officer.

I then walked up to the main entrance of the embassy itself and was told again to skip the queue and have a ticket issued, which they stuck to my DS160.

After finding the correct windows I sat and waited. I was first asked to come forward and supply a range of documents, passport, DS160, birth certificate, change of name by deed poll, I134 etc. I was asked for two passport photographs which I had with me, but as I wear glasses they were not accepted so I had to pop round the corner and use the on site photobooth ... read complete review

Appointment was 9:30am. Arrived at 9am. They scanned my DS-160 outside security and asked me to come back at 9:15. As I was applying for K1(immigration) I would be able to skip the long queue and go straight to my appointment. I wanted about 30 minutes until I was called up to the first of 2 windows.

The gentleman was very friendly. He asked how I met my fiancé. I explained I was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. And he was really fasinated by that. He took my documents. I handed him my police certificate and as it had "no live trace" on my certificate I also handed him a ACRO special access report. I basically got in a fight when I was 12 and recevied a reprimand. The officer said there's nothing to worry about as everyone gets on flights when they're 12. Honestly he made me feel so calm!

I waited another 15 minutes and then was called up to a second window. The woman interviewing me was very professional, little ex... read complete review
