Review Topic: K1 Visa

This is a review regarding my K1 visa interview at the London consulate on January 2019.

I arrived 30 minutes early to the security post outside of the embassy. It’s took me about 10 minutes to get through. The check was thorough.

As I had a K1 visa scheduled appointment, I was directed to skip the queue waiting to get access into the building and go straight to the reception desk. I waited a couple of minutes for an agent to be available, and them was instructed to go to the appropriate floor. Take note of where the reception agent directs you to go, There are multiple waiting areas for different visas and interviews in the building.

When I was there, the immigrant visa interviews were conducted on the same floor as tourists and other visas. HOWEVER, K1 visas (among a few others) have a separate waiting room, with separate counters and agents. The reception agent’s instruction’s will suffice on how to find this area.... read complete review

My appointment was 10am November 20th. I arrived at the embassy at 9:30 as from previous experience I know there is always a queue. I did try to go through the citizen services but was sent to the visa services line. There weren't too many people waiting and quickly got to hand my DS260 and passport across to the lady at the desk. To go through security I had to open an app on my phone and after my bags when through the machine I was asked to take a sip of my water. The door to exit security is really heavy! After security you walk through to the embassy building, there was a long queue which I joined, although I believe I should have walked past and gone straight to the desk. There was one lady at the desk and she was calling people forward if they had 9:30 interviews and afterwards called for any immigrant visas. After you get your stickers you go to the elevators and then turn left and left again.

When I got upstairs my number was already above a window. I walked stra... read complete review

My appointment was at 1130 and arrived at 1100 on Friday, October 4, 2019.
I walked up to the Embassy and it’s absolutely beautiful.
From reading others reviews, we organized our documents accordingly from entry to interview.
I had my Proof of appointment with confirmation of DS 160
Those two documents get one through the security before going in.
After security and once inside the building, I went to front desk on bottom floor and they asked for the DS 160 and put stickers on it (the stickers will have your number in terms of when you’ll interview)
I than went to elevators to first floor and took a left and another left.
I than sat at the small waiting area and waited for my number to be on a screen.
The first time they called me up they took :
passport
ds 160
all financials including affidavit of support.
birth certificate
the passport picture -they scan it and gave it r... read complete review

UKC husband was approved today! I was able to walk through the process with him. I did not make a request to attend, but they let me go with him as I was his petitioner. As previous posts have said, it’s pretty straight forward. We arrived 20 min before interview. We got through security into the queue outside. Note that there are non immigrant applicants in that queue too. They let us in closer to our appointment time only to queue again. TIP: once in the door definitely bypass the queues and approach the desk indicating immigration application. They pull you to the front.

Then it was up to 1st floor, 2 left turns to a very chilled, quiet waiting area. Waited for number to be called, submitted docs then went to another window to pay then sat for an hour. Officer called his number and we spent 10-15 minutes answering questions (& asking a couple ourselves) before he said visa would be approved.

Relieved to have it done. Now, to get everything else... read complete review
