My interview was scheduled for August 15th 2019 at 1pm. We arrived at the US Consulate in Johannesburg at around 12:30. Waiting outside in the line. The security guards asked us if we had mobile devices and laptops in our possession. They had to be turned off. We were let inside at 1pm and had to go through scanning. They checked our things. Then we walked out a door into a courtyard and walked all the way through to another door. We entered into a large area where I had to fill out a small slip with my name and last name and my case number. I was then told to go and sit down in the chairs provided. A lady came and gave us a piece of pink paper with the number '2' written on it. She said they will call me. A while later my number was called and I went to the second cubicle. A South African lade asked for my passport, my birth certificate, my divorce papers and my marriage certificate. She did some stuff on her computer and then asked my to put my fingers onto a green scanner and she di... read complete review

I had my visa interview on the 31st of July. After months of waiting and preparing we finally reached the appointment date. My anxiety levels were through the roof as my flight was delayed and I had to travel from Namibia. Long story short I eventually made it to Johannesburg in time for my interview. I arrived at the US Consulate. My passport pics sizes were verified at the entrance. After that I was asked to switch my phone off and to hand it in. I had to walk to another building where the interviews are held and a nice lady asked me to fill up a form and I received a note explaining the DHL instructions. After 15 minutes I was asked to go to the first counter window, I was asked for my passport, passport pics, birth certificate and copy, original police clearance, proof of payment, affadavit of support and tax returns (I also provided our Co sponsor's) then finally proof of relationship. After 15 minutes I was called to the second counter window. A friendly American lady interviewe... read complete review

Visa Interview

Our interview was at 13h15 but we went to the consulate office 9:30am. When we arrive the security outside told us to join the que and the other officer came checking our confirmation papers, passports and photos we brought. The officer told us that we have to come back at 1 o'clock or if we like we can wait there just in case they are done with others inside, we might will get a chance to go in. He as well informed us that our photos were the correct ones but other people were sent back to get the correct ones before they allow them inside.

We waited until 12:10pm and everybody left for lunch. Me and my daughter, we took a walk into Sandton City mall and came back at 1 oclock since its only less then 2 minutes walk. At the time, we relaxed and felt comfortable at the consulate office since everyone was talking and joking with us outside the building. The securities at consulate are really very good, when we came back she said lets check an... read complete review

They were very accommodating to our need to move the interview date from our original assigned date and responded promptly to e-mail correspondences.

I was not present for my husband's interview but he said that it was painless and efficient. The interviewer was not overly nice or overly intimidating - just no-nonsense and approved my husband straight away.

The only pain was that we had a strict timeline we imposed upon ourselves in terms of my husband moving to the States, and initially we had the medical done too early, not realizing that validity of the visa was based on the date of the medical (6 months from medical, not interview). This was problematic as we do not live in South Africa, so my husband had to then fly a second time for a newer medical but ended up combining this one with the 2nd interview trip.

Also - my husband had to DHL them his passport and wait for it to be sent back, which took about 2 weeks from date of intervie... read complete review

I cant remember much, but the interview only lasted for less than 5mts. Amazing US JHB consulate staffs! They are warm, friendly and down to earth. My xperience was amazing and I've no doubt to rate them even 100/100.

Long live US consulate JHB CO's.
Kudos:-)
