Same experience as previous reviewers, the embassy staff was very friendly and helpful, and the interview was quick and more like a friendly conversation than anything.
The questions I got were:
Tell me about your fiance (a bit too open ended for my near-nervous-breakdown mind so I responded something to the effect of "Well, what would you like to know?")
What is his name?
When and how did you meet?
Have you visited him since you started dating? How often?
Have you met his family? Has he met yours?
What does he do for a living? What do you do?
To put anyone at ease about having to learn important dates by heart: I have a terrible memory, and didn't even try. My answers to the above questions were rather vague (eg. met about 5 years ago, together since about 3 1/2, i have been over to see him about twice a year,...) and the officer seemed perfectly okay with that and never asked for a more precise answer than what I gave. Appointment was at 7:30, arrived at 7:20 and about 30 people were already in line, luckily most were there for other visas so after the initial wait it was very fast. Interview took literally 2 minutes, asked me how we met, why we moved to Germany and when we are moving to the US. Everyone was super nice, was out of the consulate before 9.

Appointment at 1000. I was like 20 mins late. Was out by 1130. Only me and 3 people inside the whole embassy. Only questions were:
1. which year we met
2. How we met and
3. How long we’ve been in a long distance relationship and how we continued after I moved back to Germany
Very smooth overall experience and nice staff.

I arrived 20 minutes before my actual appointment (08:30) and lucky me, the lines were empty (one for visas, one for US citizens). I got called to a window and had to give my passport. she applied a sticker on it and gave it back to me with a number. I was directed to security, which I passed quickly (I left all my belongings and smartphone in a lock box at the trainstation). afterwards I went to the next building (following the green lines on the sidewalk), which is a huge hall with many counters. there is a reception which you cannot miss. they directed me to the cashier window with some written information about the process of my appointment at the consulate. at that window (22) my passport was taken into my case file and the mailing address got checked. the officer also made sure I had provided all documents and sent me to the waiting area. it was 08:30 by now. so that went very fast.
3 other applicants were already waiting. a short time later my number, which I got ... read complete review

Just like everybody else already said. Super friendly and helpful staff. The interview itself took about five minutes with questions asked like: how did you meet, when did you got engaged, how often did you saw each other since that, has one of you ever been married/ has children...
