I am Emily's fiancé. She did not attend the interview with me and that wasn’t a problem. Most were without their S.O.
My interview was scheduled for 09:40 and I arrived around 8:20-8:30. There is a big line outside (most are there for tourist visa), so find a worker and say you have a K1 visa interview. They will let you in right away.
The k1 interviews are on the second floor where you are instructed how to organize your documents. The required documents are on the consulate website. You no longer need two pictures however, you will need to bring a copy of your fiancés passport.
You will also be required to fill out a form with your personal info and your fiancé’s (phone #, address, email) and the address of where you are staying in Rio. I say this because you can’t bring your phone in and some people that day didn’t know exactly their fiancés address and phone # etc.

I did not attend the interview but this is what my fiance told me:
He had scheduled his appointment for 9:40am, and he arrived at 9:10am.
In the review of documents, they took all of the required documents, and also a copy of my passport (me being the petitioner), a copy of my birth certificate, a copy of my divorce decree, and ALL of the financial support docs I sent (including: the affidavit of support, 1040 tax return, 3 most recent W2s, three most recent IRS tax transcripts, a letter from my employer indicating my position and salary, and my last 6 months of bank statements - I was surprised they kept ALL of these documents). They did NOT ask of further proof of relationship (we had sent a lot in the initial petition). A photo is no longer required, since they use the one they take at the CASV.
He ended up being the last person interviewed for the day.
As other reviews mention, there was a long wait to be interviewed,... read complete review

It is literally impossible to be lost or unsure of what to do. Two consulate employees are in charge of instructing the interviewees from the gate to the official. It's important to be ready and have your documents in order. They are not requiring the 5x5cm pictures anymore - those are taken at CASV along with biometrics. Further proof of relationship was also not asked - although I recommend you still bring it. You never know! My interview was in english and I was asked questions about the relationship and the only thing I was asked that wasn't information we had already provided was aboout my proposal. After less than three minutes, the official said everything looked fine and my visa was approved.

My interview was scheduled for 9am, but I arrived there at 7:30am. As soon as I arrived, a person from immigration showed me in which line I should be. Right after that, another person approached offering a place to leave my backpack and cellphone, so I left at this place right in front the immigration. It costed R$30. At 8am everybody in the K1 visa line was allowed to go inside. Once I went inside, I had to put my documents and jackets in a X-ray - just like they do in the airport. After that, the securities told everybody in the line to go upstairs and have a sit in a room full with chairs. In this big room is where the interviews are made. At this room, another person from immigration asked us to fill out a paper with especific information and also to get all the documents asked to attend the interview. This person checked all the documentation and asked to have a sit and wait again. A woman showed up behind the interview cabin and asked to go there. This person also checked all ... read complete review
