And ohhh did he ever visit you in the US before? If so then you need to include the passport stamps that shows the date of arrival and departure in the US. But if never, the stamps on your passport will show that you've been in Spain within 2 years. And the letters from your friends will prove it too. Godbless you guys!

His birth certificate is actually the short one and he sent the copies of all pages of his passport. Yes, the copies of the passport will be sufficient. I have read that one in many posts too.
