People who engage in 'check your privilege' and other 'PC' nonsense, need to get a life, but probably have too many serious emotional and/or mental issues to be able to do so. They need to be ignored or ridiculed, or both. In my house, PC stands for 'Personal Computer'.

The first amendment is still under attack, every single day. Hopefully, it will always be to no avail, but it sure will not stop certain people/groups from trying.
Look at how some universities are setting up 'Free Speech Zones', special zones where you can practice free speech. Ok, the argument can be made, it's a private organization, they are within rights to do this on their own property. Ok, but it's still pretty creepy.

Laws are for the little people, not for celebrities, and especially not for politicians holding high offices, like congress. We have no one but ourselves to blame, we elected these corruptocrats and watched them create a billion laws that they selectively enforce and which never apply to them. Maybe we should start voting in normal citizens, like us, instead of career politicians?

Sounds like you have made up your mind that moving is not an option. So I guess the only thing left is more lawyers and hopefully some type of legal solution. Best of luck
I would move to Siberia or China to be with my wife. But everyone is different.

Good idea. The original poster, however, was obviously trying to start a team red / team blue partisan politics, screaming match.
No good can come of that.
This site should be for helping each other with immigration issues, regardless of our political ideologies, we are all here for the same reason.

The fanatical right in the US has a problem
Sure, and the radical left doesn't have any problems, right? They just love you and only have your best interest in mind.
Look, I have lived in this country all of my life. I'm going to set this straight for you, whether you want to listen or not. The establishment of both big tent parties, do not have your best interest in mind. They have THEIR best interest in mind.
So, stop being played like a fiddle and learn who is your friend and who is not.
The real truth is that both parties are filled with dishonest crooks, and the few that are not, are not exclusively Democrats. There are actually more honest politicians in the GOP, although they are really libertarians, than in the Democratic party.

The FBI? Are you serious? I wouldn't be contacting the FBI unless I had a reason a lot better than something somebody is posting anonymously on an internet forum. But if you want the FBI showing up at your door, go for it.

This. I definitely think spending money for that is worth more than a lawyer. I spent the money I would have spent on a lawyer to visit my wife 2 times in Brazil and go to the interview with her.
Just my opinion, but I think this site is worth more than a lawyer, and it's free!

For getting a GC? Must have changed since wife and I went through the process. Also, the CR-1 process seemed a lot easier to me when I researched it.

Wow. This is the craziest thing I have read in a long time.
So, if this wild story is true, then you are living with a psychopath, right? Then remain calm and the first time psychopath goes to work, go straight to the consulate, the police, a shelter whatever, and tell them you need to get back to your home country, because this guy is a serial killer.
I agree with some other posters here, I don't want to judge anyone, you know, because we can't know, but the VAWA word really is a huge red flag that something is going on that we don't know the entire story. You are learning about things like that, and you should be worried about getting away from the psychopath serial murderer.

I am just new newbie on this forum, just learning about our nightmare immigration jungle. My wife and I were just married, here in the states, a few weeks ago. I am a US citizen, and she is Brazilian. But we have been a couple for all intents and purposes and pretty much inseparable, for more than 2 years now. The only thing that kept us separated for a few months during that time was work, visa limitations, and a few other events. Still we have managed to spend the most of the last 2 years together. I am just getting things together to file our I-130. Your words quoted above are quite profound and moving, and so, so true. We are becoming a nation of sheeple, not people. I do not care what some here say, my wife is my wife and as a citizen of this nation, I believe that I should have a right to be with her and that I should not have to petition a corrupt government that now serves itself and not the people for the priveledge. You are right, and the posters here that are making insensitive remarks to those seeking help and separated from their loved one, are confused. I have already started a life together with my wife, and now we have to put that on hold, and we cannot even know for how long. Maybe if we just did it illegally, we could get rewarded for that. Seems to be lots of support for that, but none for the rights of citizens petitioning legally for their loved ones. We are not a large enough voting block I suppose. To quote one poster I read on this site, 'Where is our dream act?' The US government, in accordance to our constitution, is supposed to serve the people, not the other way around. The sad fact that so many citizens here do not know that is bringing our nation down. Do not worry, all of you who do not want legal immigrants coming here. If we keep going the direction we are going, no one will come anymore. Yes, this is still one of the greatest places on earth to live, in many ways. But I fear for this nation if we continue to let our out of control federal government nightmare spin further out of control of the people. If they try my patience too much with the CR-1 process, I will grudgingly give up my career early(my wife is already retired) and move to her country. I would rather do that than live without her. But what about people who do not have that option? Is there no compassion for them? Better do so quickly I guess if I want to leave, before they build a big fence to keep us all IN, like the former USSR did. We are looking more like them every day.
And yes, misterbigtoe, This is not the America I grew up believing in either.
