  5. ***Moved from What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration form to IR-1/CR-1 Process & Procedures*** ** Moderator hat off ** The second I placed in bold and red is a non-starter. In addition to using a tourist visa with intent to adjust status is fraud, you wouldn't be applying for a tourist visa in the first place, your wife would. With a US citizen spouse, her chances of being granted one are virtually nil. Any synonyms of the word fast do not go hand in hand with the US immigrant visa process. As mentioned by a prior poster, you could be waiting for 1.5-2 years from the time you file to the time a visa is issued. If it takes less time, then count your blessings.
  6. ***Moved from Progress Reports to Process & Procedures*** ** Moderator hat off ** The short answer, yes you can. The long answer: Study the required forms and the instructions for completing them very carefully and determine what your comfort level is in completing them; then you can determine if your comfortable enough doing it yourself or seeking legal or professional assistance. As alluded to by others, you will be responsible for gathering supporting documentation that will accompany forms at different points in this process and that's regardless of whether or not you are doing this yourself.

Have you tried calling the NVC and speaking to an operator or a supervisor? That might net results quicker than going the public inquiry route.

  16. Such "coaching companies" can cause so many problems for visa applicants because they have been known to advise people to no tell the truth about certain aspects in their life (e.g. saying they are married when they are not). This haunts people because they are denied the visa anyway and then if they apply for a spousal visa at a future date, they will be required to show documentation pertaining to something that never happened. Using the example I gave, the applicant would have to provide documentation showing that the marriage they claimed to be in has ended. That would be impossible because it said marriage never was.
