courts keep everything, they have to, if you have the docket # i would just go down to the court house in person and request a copy.
what you got was an ACD
google:
Adjournment in contemplation of dismissal
they hand those out like candy for minor court cases.

I called and got some canned response. I asked to speak with a supervisor and they said they would put in a service request, i told them dont bother.
I then called my senators office and got a nice woman who said they would inquire to just send them a letter requesting and authorizing them to look into it. But it was really just a nice cannecd response
.
I sent the letter and i call back USCIS every day to check the status. (well not every day)
i figure its the holidays and nothing is getting done right now, honestly its the same at my office, its a ghost town. Everyone goes on vacation at this time of year.
im not gonna stress out over it till after a few weeks into the new year.
Cause at my job when we get back in we pump out all the stuff we didnt get done at the end of the year.

If its not a conviction, you dont need to mention it.
Will it come up in their background check? the arrest will but and they will prolly let her know about that, but your not breaking any rules cause you were not convicted.
but like the original poster said, check with a lawyer.
also, make sure you share all that with your SO cause they might ask her if she knows about it at the interview.
you can get arrested 1000 times, but if it gets dismissed 1000 times you have a clean record. but they will always be able to tell you were arrested 1000 times. But without a conviction the system has to look at it like you were not guilty.
also, if you want to be proactive, go to the court and get a copy of the disposition and attach it to your file with an explanation of why you didnt check it off.

Somoene will correct me if im wrong, but texas is just intake. they cash the check and forward your file on to either Vermont or California service center.
if the first 3 letters of your file are EAC you are at the VCS. I cant reemmber what Californias is, but if its not EAC then its california.
but just be prepared to wait the full 5 to 6 month run cause they are in a big slow down.
i would just put it out of my mind at least till the fourth month.
-
just checked mine and it was fine. if it still gives you problems maybe reset your modem?
-
I did the same thing you did and got a denial after two months of waiting and 500 bucks waisted.
You can call all you want but you will be told to wait for an RFE that wont come.
My suggestion:
File an expidite request for a semi valid reason. then send in your entire packet with the expidite request. that is the only time they take in information other than when they send you an RFE.
just be quick about it. cause they dont actually have to accept it when it comes in but at least it gives you a bit of hope.
When i did my expidite request i did it over the phone and it didnt work because they didnt allow me to send in info, the person said that they would ask for it later, which they didnt, they just denied it.
so if i had a second chance i would mail in my expidite request with all my backup.
might work, might not.
also, just be prepared to refile right away.
another option would be to drop your petition then refile right away.

What is the deal with filipinas and shoes and handbags? I have heard related rumors of shopping "addictions" from more than one member...
hehe i dont know to many women who dont like shoes
-
its not just pinay's who do things like that, just find a like minded crowd and you will be fine.
-
just a thought...
you could either wait a year and file your 2011 taxes then go the k1 route.
or you could play the numbers game: file for the k1 in six months by the time your fiance goes for the interview you should be just filing your taxes. if not and her interview comes a bit early, have her call the consulate and reschedule for another month.
just a thought.

Have to be at 125% of the poverty level, if you have children they are included even if they dont live with you, not so sure about the kid thing but someone will correct me if im wrong.

How long does it take to get a divorce? can you get a divorce and then just get remarried? Like another poster said, never hand them a reason to deny you.
dont take the chance, clear up your situation then file your papers.

Hit my 5 month mark on the 23rd of december.
Called USCIS and was told they are working on July 10th application. Told them that i had a friend who is in the same boat and was told the same thing a week ago, asked how long does it take to make it through one days worth of K1s and i wanted to speak to a supervisor.
Supervisor said my app was recieved on july 20th but the rcpt date is july 23rd and if i wanted to put in a service request (the first person said tehy coudl not put one in) i told her no just want to know when it would be workd on, she coudl not answer, said all she coudl do is put in a service request and if i dont hear back in 30 to 45 days to call them back. Told her no thank you.
Called my senators office (Chuck Schumer) very nice woman told me to write them a letter and they would look into it for me, she walked me through writting a line or two authorizing them to seek info on my behalf.
will let you know what happens when it happens.
(to tired to proof read, sorry)

Definition of an International Marriage Broker. “International marriage broker” is defined as an entity (whether or not U.S.-based) that charges fees for providing matchmaking services or social referrals between U.S. citizens/permanent residents and foreign nationals. The definition also exempts nonprofit religious or cultural matchmaking services, and dating services that do not match U.S. citizens/residents with aliens as their principal business and that charge comparable rates and offer comparable services to all clients, regardless of gender or country of citizenship.
As long as the website does not specifically match US citizens with mates of other countries then you are fine. Like if a US citizen can meet another US citizen or a filipino can meet a filipina then it would not be considered an international marriage broker, even if you pay a fee.

Honestly, i dont see the point in sending money before you get married on a regular basis unless its an emergency. I mean how was she able to live before she met you?
all of a sudden she needs x amount of dollars a month? i can understand if its for calling you and expenses that have to do with you like internet cafe. but just to send it is pointless and sets a bad tone in the relationship if you ask me. i love that my so is capable of being independent when she needs to be and dependent on me when its important knowing that i will be there for her.
at least you found out now.

I spoke to the immigration rep at my congressmans office and she says when its 60 days over i should call her and she will make an iquiry. Kinda pointless to get upset i guess. She says that you cant hold them to a date even if the website says 5 months.

we are inteh same boat. july 23rd ehre
-
Thanks for your input but I am completely comfortable breaking up. I am not interested in trying to change her or her habits. She enjoys sending money to her family so who am I try and change that?
honest, after reading this, i dont think you or she was ready to get married. just my opinion, this is prolly for the best, plus you will be a doctor and very busy for the next few years. not a good time for marriage.

To anyone interested, I have since broke off my engagement with her. Now I live in on-campus housing (well starting in Jan. I move on campus). We are selling our house and we will split the equity. My life is significantly better without the stress of parents extorting money from us. I am thankful we didn't actually get married, that would have been a diaster.
Her parents were using the money we would send to buy cigarettes, alcohol, gamble, fancy dinners as well as giving it to other family members. We found this out from other people that live in that city. When they found out we were selling our house and had split up, they asked if they could have $10,000 (US dollars) for medical bills and medications that they said they had acquired....LOL.....I was crying from laughing so hard.
I learned my lesson, stay away from Filipinos. They are bred to do one thing, get as much money as possible without working for it.
Thats a bad lesson to learn from this. If anything you should stay away from women who dont know how to cut loose from the noose family can put around their necks.
Im shocked she doesnt see anything wrong with supporting such bad habits. She is being scammed by her family and thats crazy. Breaking up is a bit harsh if you love her in your situation. Unless she is refusing to adjust her habits. Maybe direct her to this sight?

Both VCS and CSC have the same 5 month goal.
As of now it looks like they are both meeting it, but just barely.
Why did 97% of the Haitian charity cases go to Vermont? It looks like bureaucratic bungling to me. Does anyone have better info?
curiuos, how do you know the Hatian Visas when to VCS?
-
yeah its most likly just an age thing, its like you shouldnt feed your kid honey till hes about 12 months?
but i take honey for coughs and give my son a tablespoon of it when he has a bad cough and it knocks it out in about 10 mnts or so.
or i give him warm water with lemon and honey.
differnt people use diffrnt tricks just know whats the best age to give it to them.

Meet in a country that does not require a passport to travel to, mexico? Think all he needs is his license as long as he is not flying there. Not sure if she would need a visa to go but if she did im sure she could hop the border into mexico somewhere, mexican authorities would nevvvveeer expect that.
Puerto rico? he could then charter a small plane to fly him to jamaica and either attempt a water landing or parachute in, dont ask me how he would get home.
The Cayman islands ( not sure about this one ) but the charter plane would cost less as its a bit closer to jamaica.
or... he could work something out with his childs mother and take care of teh child support thing...

Yeah, im 3 weeks away and praying i dont go past the 5 month mark.
Screwed Up! Just sent in form and fee!
in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures

I made the same mistake and waisted two months. I wish i would have taken the chance and sent in my info before they denied me. Honestly sending it wont delay anything, maybe it will catch up maybe it wont.
At worst you lose a few bucks on postage in hopes of not getting a denial.
But hey its just a thought, i dont work their and i dont know the process they follow.
But what i do know is if you put in an expidite request the person working on your file HAS to pull it and review it and either send you an expidite denial like the one i got below:

I never submitted any documents and it said i did and that pissed me off, a month later i received my denial letter. At that time i was not aware that i had needed to send anything with my application due to listening to the idiots at their 800 #. Then i read all the stuff here finally and started bangin my head into the wall.
If you can get them to let you send in documents then you can send in everything. if i had it to do all over again i would say i was dieing or something that way they woudl ahve to ask for prooof
then i would send in my entire package with a letter saying i was gonna kick the bucket due to severe fiance withdrawal syndrome
and this email came from the guy who actually denied my petition.
