So we got the biometrics and picture taken during the appointment and they issues 1-year ADIT stamp! Cant believe it worked out!

Yes, that was like 5 years ago. The I-90 I just filed shows biometrics is the next step, so that also got me concerned. 

We are going for infopass appointment tomorrow am anyway.  

Thank you. I called to and made a request for appointment in the local office even though I was told by the officer on the phone that they might not stamp ADIT without biometrics. We got appointment for tomorrow 9am and officer on the phone now say that as long as we take all relevant documents (flight details, etc.) we should be able to get the stamp. 

Will she be able to get the ADIT without having biometrics done?

My mother lost her GC, she is currently in US and we have her ticket booked for Canada for next week. I just applied for I-90. Any chance I can get her a ADIT stamp in any of the NYC offices or can she travel based on the online Receipt I received after filing I-90?

how long does it take to get GC on hand? My mom's visa was early Dec 2018, and I paid the fees Dec 30.

Hi, quick update...just received I-130 approval for my mom. Case is being transferred to NVC. No text or email, case doesnt even show up online but glad it went through. Lets see what NVC has to say. How long is that taking these days?

I am a USC and would like my sister to visit the US to attend my wedding (end of Oct). Seeking help on what to submit and make the application strong as there are some tricky facts about the situation:

The not so good...

- In 2010 her visa application was rejected when she and her husband applied from Pakistan (I was on H1-B back then)

- Her husband's financial situations isnt great and unlikely will have anything substantial (bank statements with strong balance) to present 

- My sister doesnt have much international travel experience - other than her recent 3 day trip to Singapore, and trips between UAE-PK

Some positives...

- She plans to apply from US Consulate in UAE 

- I am now a USC and hoping that this would carry some wait unlike the last time when I was on H1-B

- Only my sister and two young nieces (both under 6) will apply, my brother-in-law is unable to take time off from work so he will stay in UAE

- I plan to send an invitation letter along with evidence (my bank statements, pay-stubs) to show that I can easily bear all the expenses for their travel and accommodation

- I will buy them flight tickets ahead of the visa interview so they know that not only I am able to support, I have done that

Here is what we are thinking to submit:

- My brother-in-law's employment details showing that he is legally working in UAE

- Wedding invitation (that includes website URL in case they need to see details, including family pics)

- Legal status proof for my sister and her daughters 

- My invitation letter that includes:

• Copy of my US Passport
• My pay-stubs (last 2 months)
• My bank Statement (multiple banks)

- My older niece's school admission details (including possibly a letter from school for allowing 1 week off from school)

- Flight booking details confirming departure and return dates

Is there anything we are missing? Are there any things we should be aware of? How critical is my sister's financial strength? Lastly, which documents should be only submitted during the visa interview and not when filing the application?

Thank you both, this was quite helpful. She is coming to attend my wedding and will go back but I agree, I would not want to risk the trip or the stress.

I was not planning to file I-130 until I saw recently that Trump plans to ban the GC for parents. So wanted to do that before anything happened on the political end. 

PS: I have not filed I-130 yet

Thank you all, I did not know that filing concurrent would be a problem.  Thought that concurrent is for people who "are in the US" regardless of type of visa that had. 

She already has a Tourist Visa that she got last year and visited me once already. So if I file I-130 now and in October, if immigration officer sees at the airport that she had I-130 pending - this wont be a problem or considered as an intent to stay?

Hi, I am planning to file GC for my mother. She is planning to come to the US (on tourist visa) in October of this year, for a month. She will go back after that.

I am wondering if I should apply (concurrent?) when she is here or should I apply with I-130 now and go through the NVC process?  Any suggestions or advice would be great!

If I apply for I-130 now, will there be a problem if she tries to come here?

Hi,

It's ok to buy your ticket, everyone gets their certificate on the date of the oath. The only thing that I can think of that would affect you, is if you commit a crime that would void the moral character part of the citizenship, but only you would know that lol.

Don't be concerned. As a matter of fact, if you have to travel and you don't have your passport you can always go in person to the passport office with proof of travel. You're here in NYC, the office is downtown, I think on Hudson St, I was there back in 2012.

The passport by mail can take like 6 to 8 weeks especially for first time passport, so be sure you have this time from the date of the oath to the date of the trip. If not you will have to request an expedite and pay the extra fee if you do it by mail. In order to apply in person, it's the same thing, there's an extra $60 fee. Good luck.

Also, just to note, in order to request an expedite the trip has to be in the next 2 weeks. So you would be able to mail it in for normal processing, but you won't be able to request the expedite until there's 2 weeks left before your trip.

I passed my interview and the oath ceremony has been scheduled.

Could something go wrong at this stage? I am planning to use US Passport for an upcoming trip in November, I think there is plenty of time between Oath and the trip so I am not worries about the processing of the Passport .... curious if anything could prevent me from getting the Certificate on the date of Ceremony, and whether I should or should not buy tickets (prices may go up)

Thank you! Thats helpful. They haven't asked for much in the letter, but yes, I do plan to take all of that in addition to what you have listed - similar to the stuff I took when I had gotten the 2yr GC.

How long did it take you to go from interview > Oath > Passport?

I had my interview on July. On that day the IO asked about what documents I brought to the interview.

I gave to her (copies):

- The last bills (ConEdison and Cablevision). Both of them, my Wife and my name are on the bills.

- The last statements from our Saving and Checking Accounts (2 different banks). Both of them, my Wife and my name are on the Statements.

- Our last Jointly tax return (Transcript from IRS).

The IO told me that those documents were enough and even congratulate me for been well organized.

Do not forget to take with you, whatever else they are asking in the Interview letter.

I finally got the interview letter is this Thursday in Long Island City - NY. I had applied based on 3-year rule, marriage to the USC.

Did anyone recently go through the 3-year based n400 interview recently? Curious what I should prepare to bring with me.

I looked at the documents I had sent when I filed for N400 and seems like I had sent only a copy of marriage certificate, insurance card copy and 2010, '11 and '12 - tax returns. And I do realize that these may not be sufficient so I am planning to take additional documents.

If anyone has any advice on the prep I should do, in addition to the civic test, that would be great!

I didnt know that you could call USCIS to reschedule. Did you talk to first or second level? What did you ask them to do (create a ticket or reschedule)?

Received my wife's interview notice April 17 (printed Apr 14). Her interview is for May 20. Unfortunately, we're going to be out of the country attending a wedding. So I just called the USCIS number to reschedule. Hopefully it won't be an issue with NYC field office. Seems like a valid reason right as she is the matron of honor at her friend's wedding?

But as M+M said, it might take 3 months to reschedule.

NYC Manhattan office is the most back-logged local office. Anyone whose "zip-code" is outside of Manhattan (e.g. Brooklyn, LI, Queens, Bronx) are some what on track. I was placed in line for interview on November 18, 2013. I was scheduled for interview on April 1st, 2014. I waited for nearly 5 months just to get scheduled. By the last week of March I was extremely worried and made a service request. That is when the tier 2 officer explain the "zip-code" classification to me. Apparently all the offices fall under the NYC district office but the NYC district office is further sub-divided into local offices for each borough. These local office vary in their processing times.

The Manhattan residents who filed in October are still waiting for their interviews to be scheduled where as people with the same priority dates whose local office is Holtsville or Queens are done with this process.

I did review some of the time lines from October/November and saw pending interview cases. Which is part of the reason I ended up booking my trip for mid-May and now unfortunately I have a conflict.

Now that I have realized that I need to have the interview rescheduled, I am trying to guess-timate how long will it take Queens office to process my request. It took them about three months to schedule from the day they placed me in line, I am estimating its going to take them another 3 months to reschedule - oh well!

I find it surprising that despite having different Local Offices, the time line for interviews are not that drastically different among these local offices. For example, NYC is suppose to be one of the busiest and slowest yet, I got the letter on April 14 and interview scheduled for May 20th.

Wonder if the local offices get files transferred from NBC on a defined time line i.e every other week/month, etc.

- Certificate of Marriage

- Evidence of dental insurance (I wish I hadnt sent this)
