Actually, it wasn't expired, it has a revised form - and USCIS is rejecting older-not-expired I-485 because aLl of a sudden they care about guns trading
-
Like some of the other unfortunate applicants my application will also be rejected as I used an out-date I-485 form. My question is ...
Can I simply replace the out-dated form and re-send it with everything that came back?
OR
Do I need to re-do/generate all the forms (I-130, I-765, G-325A, I-864, I-131, marriage/birth certificate) and ALL related documents and then send it?
Thanks to those who shared, USCIS puts the date stamp and some code on each document we had sent. So I am unsure how much of what they sent us back is re-usable and how much has to be new.
Thanks!!

I wouldn't advocate doing that.
You are right.
One other thing I did wrong was that I put Post-It notes on the documents explaining what they were. And then made a copy of those before sending. Now I cant use some of those copied documents as they have post-it copied on them.

Since you know already that its coming I'd just start doing it now...when it gets there you can head over to the post office and send it back out. If I knew ahead of time I would have just redid the whole thing and swapped with the mailman when it came! LOL
Haha, I could just send one out tomorrow and not wait till it gets returned

Well the thing is when they get the packet they tear it all apart and stamp every page down the whole right side with the date etc. I pretty much reprinted the whole packet. Not only that but I had to change the date on everything as well...it wasn't the 6th anymore, it was now the 19th so I had to change dates before signing them. A couple things there was nothing I could do about, like my husbands job letter...I had sent the original on company letterhead. I probably could have just redone the one form (times 4 in my case...3 kids) but since I had no idea what the heck was wrong in the first place ...I just ended up doing it all. After spending 6 hours on it last night...I wouldn't do it again. I'd do the one form and let them deal with their date stamps. It was probably overkill but I'm ####### like that.
I guess I dont mind printing the forms again but the documents that I attached - I would HATE to copy them again and re-collect them.
Wonder if someone else just did the outdated form(s). I dont feel like putting that mess together. Already having headache!
-
Some of the forms they will accept different editions. Unfortunately the one we screwed up on it explicitly says "previous editions not accepted". Would be nice if they had waited till the dang thing expired before replacing though.
Did you end up putting together all the documents and the forms from scratch or just the expired one? What about the Supporting Documents? Can I use the documents/forms they sent back or do I need to re-print and generate all the documents again?
I guess I am trying to figure out the amount of effort I will have to put into it once I get it back.

I downloaded FROM USCIS website but in February, I read that this could happen if you download from somewhere else. My mistake was that I did not re-download the forms before sending. AArrrgghh!!
I wish I could fedex that form now before they send it back.

Anticipating a rejection due to REVISED I-485. I did the same thing, prepared in February and filled out forms in July. I guess I should be getting mine back some time early next week.
this sucks!!!

If you had an EAD card issued before then you need to fill out the USCIS location that issued the EAD card and attached the copy of it. If ever had one, then you dont need to answer this. 'Not Applicable' should be sufficient.
As for eligibility I think you already have it right. C-9. And for 17, if you dont have the eligibility category (listed in 16) they ask in this question then you dont need to answer this one.
...i think. Read the instructions and sample forms on VJ website for more guidance.

I have seen a lot of people here doing early/walk-in biometrics. I personally am a very impatient person (and acknowledge I am being tested now) and would like to get things done early if I can but curious if early biometrics actually help expedite the EAD/AP or the interview process or do people just like to get them out of the way.
Any thoughts?

I have read that some people get their local congressmen involved. Perhaps you could try that option. Wont be easy but might be worth the hassle.
Good luck.

Well I got mine back today...my husband used an old form for the affidavit of support so we have to resubmit the whole package. I'm totally blaming him for this one. lol I'll have it done and we'll overnight it (again) tomorrow so it'll be there on the 21st.
I'm disappointed but oh well....it happens.
I just realized that the I-864EZ form that I used says "Expires 10/31/10" on the top ... it freaked me out as I thought I used an older one. Not realizing the current year is 2010

Hi, everyone! We sent our AOS package out 7/7/10 and they received it on 7/9/10, but we still have not heard anything. I hope we get news soon. Good luck to everyone.
Interesting how much of a difference there can be, for some people it took them 1 week to send NOA-1 and cash the checks while in others its taking at least 2 weeks for the same step.

If you have worked previously in the US, with an H1B visa years ago, do you need to include documentation with the I-765 that you are filling currently for AOS (through a K-1)? Is a copy of cancelled visa in my passport enough documentation?
I have read cases where they requested expired EAD, and since I had obtained EAD through OPT, I supplied that along with my current and expired H1-B. Figured, it would help avoid RFE.
I dont think you would have to unless you check a box somewhere they ask you to provide more info.

Did you apply for Advance Parole (Form I-131)? ...it allows one to travel while Green Card is pending. If you did, then you dont need the visa stamp to come back, AP would work just fine.
Also, I think they rarely stamp anything on your passport during the interview (I could be wrong here). If you already have a valid visa and you have not applied for Advance Parole(I-131) then I think the visa stamp you already have should work.
- my 2cents.

If you are using courier service (Fedex/Ups/dhl) send its at the 'Attn:FBAS' address.
I used fedex so sent it to this one too.

If you want them to send an e-notification when they receive your application, include a form G-1145 on top of your packet.
You can sign up for regular case updates via the USCIS website after you receive your receipt numbers, and you can select the email/text option for each case.
Go here: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/selectusertype.jsp;jsessionid=abcNopbku0zQe8rxn_bNs
Good luck
Thanks a lot for the help! Just printed the G-1145.

I am preparing my AOS/I-130 package and noticed here on the forum that some people get RFEs by email, I am hoping that I wont have any but in case I do, I think getting an email would be quicker.....but I dont see a place on any of the forms (130, 485, 325A, etc.) where I could give my email address.
How do people get contacted via email?

Thought to share my experience in case someone else faces the same situation...
I went to another CS without mentioning the complication I had with the previous CS. He looked at the doctor's letter showing my TD shot and said I am all set for Vaccines and do not need anything else.
-
My first post...
I took a TD shot from my physician and then went to the Civil Surgeon to get the medical exam. He looked at the letter from my physician that says I have taken TD on June 2nd, CS says that since March 2009, there is a new regulation that requires people in my age (29) need the Tdap shot and not just the Td shot.
CS is now telling me to wait for one month and then come back to him to take Tdap shot. I am concerned about the double dose and side effects, I read the USCIS instructions and seems like they want people to take TD or TDAP shot, not necessarily TDAP.
any opinion?
thanks in advance.

Thanks for the updates and suggestions. I think am going to follow what FrostyMist did and LiLMermaid suggested. Also, I posted a new thread asking the same question and someone also recommendedthe same thing to send just the updated form.
I noticed AP and EAD forms also have an updated version but they are acceptable. Since forms are easy, I will send the updated EAD and AP form but will keep the other documents as is. Its just too much work to re-collect all supporting documents.
PDF is a good idea!
