juliava got a reaction from Mike E in i 751
Mike B - My answer started with the word "NO", that means no, he may not travel unless he has the proper documentation. When I say "An extension letter" or "an I-551 stamp", it is implied that these documents must be valid.
    Please don't twist my answers.

juliava got a reaction from Nanak32 in how about going back to school? any opinions?
Yes, Silvana, it is a good idea to get some American education.
I have a BA in Psychology, and after doing some reasearch, it looks like the only way for me to get a decent job in this field is going for a MA or PhD program.
I noticed a BA doesn't have so much value anymore when searching for a new job, but a graduate program would make a difference though.
I think JustBob was saying somewhere else that the BA nowdays has the value of highschol diploma and I agree with that.
My advise is - go to school, but wait until you get your GC, otherwise you will be considered an international student. As an international student, the school tuition and fees would be different/higher and you will be required to have a sponsor and pass a TOEFL test. Also, only LPRs and USC are eligible to apply for student loans.

When it comes to applying for citizenship, unpaid taxes combined with lack of documentation proving that you have the intention of paying it would definitely hurt your application. Pay your taxes, get it over with and then you may apply for citizenship. Also, have an explanation letter ready at the time of the interview describing why you didn't pay your 2008 taxes until now. That's where you may talk about not having a job.

Look up user Camelot13. They have a similar story. Looks like, at this point, the only thing you can do is to push for I751 to be adjudicated. Then you may follow up with the n400 application. Every case is unique though, so how long they are going to take on processing everything is a question you might not be able to find an answer for. Arm yourself with  lot of patience.

I became a US citizen today at Mt Laurel. It was a very positive experience; both the interview and the oath ceremony were short and pleasant. Staff were friendly. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

Finally finished with my interview and I was recommended for approval!!! The officer said that the next scheduled oath taking for Santa Ana is March 20th and that I should wait for the oath letter in the mail for instructions. The interview was easy and we were just casually chatting about my interests and my relationship with my husband. I was in at 10 am and was out of the building by 10:45 am. I wasn't asked for any additional documents at all. The officer only asked me for my driver's license, most recent passport and green card.

How long does it usually take to get the oath letter in the mail? Officer said it's still early and that I should be able to make it to the March 20th oath taking ceremony.

Below are the following questions that were asked - I don't remember all of it sorry I was nervous lol

    1. What is the highest court in the US? Supreme Court
    2. Who is our Vice President? Mike Pence
    3. Who were brought to the US by the Europeans as slaves? Africans
    4. How many justices are there in the Supreme Court? 9

Thank you guys! Just a few observations about my interview:

    1. If you owe taxes but you have an installment agreement and you pay your bill on time - there is nothing to worry about it. Just bring a copy of your most recent statement and a copy of your installment agreement.
    2. I know what the instrcutions say about passport pics. Please do me a favor : bring two passport size photos just in case!!! I was asked for them, and thank God I had them with me!
    3. Don't stress about the civics questions, there are pretty easy! Mine were: Who wrote the Declaration of Independece? ; Name 3 of the original states/colonies; What is the president's political party? ; What are the main political parties in the US?; Name one state that borders Mexico.; Who is the commander in chief of the military?
    4. If you interview in Newark, please arm yourself with patience. My interview was at 11:00am. I was called in at 12pm, finished with interview around 12:40pm after interview officer consulted with supervisor. After that I sat there waiting  until 3:30pm to be called to sign my naturalization certificate. Following this, thd oath ceremony started at 4pm and I was out of the building around 4:45.

    Good luck!🎉🎉🎉
