You can call USCIS or go to USCIS website and request to change the address. They will send the confirmation by email and mail upon it updated. I have already changed my address twice
No worry .. you will be fine
Thanks Pastina! I was worried that it would set us back some time
I guess I'm more irritated at the fact that my brother in law didn't tell my husband that he was planning on selling the house until today and telling him that they were closing on Monday and that he and his mom would have to be out by the end of the week. I wonder if the Bogota Embassy would deliver to a P.O box or does it have to be a physical address?
-
Ok so we now have a problem.....looks my husband is having to move because my brother in law has sold the house that he was living in. How do I change the address on our application or how does that work?? Geez this on top of how to file my taxes guess when it rains it pours huh???
Thanks guys!

You should definitely not file as single. "Married filing separately" is your best option. You do not need a social security number, nor an ITIN, for your spouse to file this way.
When your spouse arrives in the US, they will get a social security number, and then you should file "married filing jointly", which gives the majority of people a nice tax break.
See that's what we thought too. Thanks!

Help!! I was going to file my taxes today. However, the lady that was filling out the paperwork said that I would have to file as married which I knew, but that since he wasn't here in the States that I should have to file for an ITIN number? But that I should have the original DL, passport, and birth certificate to even start to file. However, like my husband and I were talking and were wondering why or how am I suppose to have his things here and he be in Colombia I mean that's his ID in his home country. So my question what do you guys recommend that I do file as single, or file as married filing separate? I know that they are going to ask us why I would file as single right??
I don't think that I'm making any sense.

That does help! Thank you very much.
No problem:)

If you are referring to our adjustment of status interview that occurred a year after we sent in all those forms. Not very much evidence could we bring in. Was just translated divorce papers for my wife, all of our birth certificates, her previous marriage certificate, that was need to show proof she was the mother of her daughter that I also petitioned for since she still had her previous marriage last name. Full copies of their passports, our marriage certificate, was married here so no translation required, and the most difficult piece of paper we had to obtain, permission for her daughter to come here from her not give a darn biological father.
Could not provide any joint information, APA didn't allow this until they became LPR's, did bring letters to this effect, but didn't have to show them, our interviewer understood this, and oh, a police report for both my wife and stepdaughter.
Wife did bring along our wedding picture album, we did have a very nice woman interviewer and she wanted to see all those photos. Being married here, was just my family, a large one of that. Interviewer could see photos of my kids hugging their new stepmom. And photos of me, my kids, aunts and uncles hugging my new stepdaughter, stepsister, and stepniece. Mabye this made a difference, never a question about how we met or got to our marriage day.
Now for the removal of conditions and citizenship, that is where we had to show a ton of evidence, had to be joint everything.
Good luck. But call luck getting a good interviewer and not getting into an accident or traffic jam driving over, and good weather. Things one doesn't have any control over.
Thanks! We are wanting to get our ducks in a row

Hey there. Trying to file for my K-1 next month but I have no idea how to go about printing my Facebook messenger and WhatsApp conversations between my fiancé and I. People who have already filed: Did you just copy and paste? Take a screen shot? Also, we have sent over 5,000 messages to each other. Do they want them all???
The other problem is almost all of our conversations are in Serbian... Does anyone know how I go about translating these? Does it have to be professionally done? Where do I find a professional translator? Do I submit the conversations in both languages? I need some more information. If you have been through this process before please help!
Thank you!
I know that the Whatsapp has like a button that says to email the conversation and it will send it to your email. you go to the main part where all your conversations are and hold your finger on the conversation to want and there should be a menu that pops up that says like delete, block person and email conversation (just did that myself a couple of days ago), I think that FB kind of works the same way since my husband did that for us (since I had deleted everything I voulfn't tell you for sure.
Hope this helps best wishes!

Bogota rings a bell as does translation of key legal documents. Must be talking about proof or relationship. But for whatever strange reason, wife and I were never questioned about this by the USCIS. Like how long we were dating, how many times we spent time together, showing letters, emails, video conferences, etc.
But without bragging, was told we make a lovely couple.
With translations of key legal documents, didn't quite understand that either, since the USCIS does have a Spanish line. But we did need these.
Suppose if they did want something like this, would have burnt a DVD, with hundreds of photographs, flight itineraries, chats, etc. We still have fun reviewing these recalling the long days we had apart.
Ha, when we decided we were right for each other, another job was deleting all those relationships we had with other people.
Thanks NickD, we had his birth certificate( which was hand written b/c back then that's how they did it) translated as well as our marriage license when I got back to the states. I have printed out some of our telephone records my flight itinerary things like that. How many packets did you guys get or have to have?

I have added you to the transfer sheet for august.
When you transfer (which will be soon), you will receive three emails and three texts.
A couple of days after the third email - you will receive a letter indicating where the petition was transferred to for processing/adjudication.
Once its transferred (California, Texas or Nebraska), you can post on here and let us know
Once transferred it may take anywhere between 6-60 days to get an approval.
Then it goes to the NVC
Here is a link to see where they are at right now (some august filers have been approved)
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsvZPBxJt8H4dDdiM2tUS0ZsTGhtbGxSN05uUGF5WGc#gid=0
Thank you so much for explaining this to me! I will keep you guys updated.....and I hope we all get some good news soon:)
-
Yes, You should transferred soon. And after transferred it will take up to 1 to 60 days after transfers to get approved.
its depend on luck and process.
Thank you for clearing that up for me! I believe I'm letting my nerves, anxiety and MOST definitely my lack of impatience is getting the best of me lol! Again thank you.
Best Wishes to everyone on their journeys!

Here is the updates,,
Today they transferred Aug 1st and 2nd . All way up to MSC13916126XX..
What's your MSC numbers ? First 6 or 7 digit.
Hi! I'm slightly confused on how this works for example our case is MSC 139170XXXX we filed 8/19, does this mean we can expect a transfer soon??? Then after its transferred how long do we wait until we here if we're approved or not, or will the transfer letter say we're approved and transferred. Sorry I'm just having anxiety I guess lol!

Okay, just checking because we saw a women when we were at our AOS interview wheeling around a couple of boxes full of papers here in Denver. I think if you par it down as you are planning you will be fine. I would just describe the phone calls just as you did here in a nice statement included with that evidence. You purchased a magic jack and this is no your husband's phone number. They may even call it to verify--I would suggest you put that in the letter that they are welcome to call the number. I think you will be fine.
Good luck,
Dave
lol...no the more we thought about it we were like nooop just every other day or something front and back, the same for the phone records.
Best Wishes!

Are you really going to send in over 1 ream of paper if you print on both sides of the paper?!?? Really??? I would go thru this and give a few examples of your conservations, but I personally would not send more than 100 pages printed on both sides--50 pieces of paper. We have a lot of e-mails over 3 years and I showed the most important ones. I also broke it up into time periods that made sense for us. You do not need to translate all this. But think about it if you were in the IO shoes and someone sent in over 1200 pages of conservations. Would you even look at it? Would you think the person is trying to cover something up? So the conservations for a time period at the beginning of the relationship, in the middle, and most recent. I would show al the phone records as that information can be condensed into a few pages. IMHO content is more important than sheer volume. I know you want to show that the relationship is legit, but can't you do that with less than 1200 pages?
Good luck,
Dave
lol! I was actually thinking more along the line of 1 day or 2 out of each month front and back and basically as far as the phones statements every other month with his number highlighted. But then again we bought a magicjack thing which would make it seem like he has a US number even though he's overseas. How would I explain that other than saying that we bought the device so that my phone bill wouldn't be so high and we could talk more often??

Hey Guys! Hope everyone is doing well! I have a quick question and obviously a stupid one. All of the Facebook, Yahoo and Whatsapp conversations between my husband and I are in Spanish and as for Skype how would we have proof that we video chat is there a way to download? Question is since his interview would be in Bogota, do I still have to sit here and translate almost 1200 plus pages? And what about my phone bill I mean that's ALOT of calls and would mean that we would probably need like 3 binders for it. Anyone have and recommendations or suggestions???
Best of Luck!

Ours is MSC1391XXXXX...... and we are "patiently" waiting
Filed: August 19, 2013
Anyone know what my VJ page is so small that I have to literally squint to be able to read it???? ( Sorry off the subject)

According to current 2013 federal poverty guidelines for your household size, you only need to make $19,387.
Thanks for your answer Zedayn! That helped alot
Good Luck on your journey!
Current poverty guidelines (2014 won't come out for a couple more months) > http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864p.pdf
Do they usually change it every year? We were planning on getting my mother to be a co sponsor just in case.
-
If they are listed as dependents on your most recent tax return, then they will count in the household size. If you file your 2013 taxes without them as dependents and use the 2013 return for the I-134, then they will not count in your household size. If you use the 2012 return with them listed as dependents as your most recent tax return, then yes, they will count >. "..any other dependents listed on your most recent Federal income tax return.."
The OP stated that they support and claim no one else that they live with, so they are not all counted in their household size. Their household size is only 2, herself and her fiance.
Thanks Jay-Kay! That really helped on my confusion lol.....Now since it will be just us two I understand that I will have to atleast make around $22,000 is that correct also?
-
hi! it means as of October 21 2013, they are processing cases from February.
Thank you!
-
I am a little confused as to how to read the processing time from the USCIS website. If anyone could help with that it would great. This morning I checked it and it said processing Feb13,2013 (we are still @NBC), but then above that it says Field Office Processing Dates for National Benefits Center as of: October 31, 2013. My question is are they processing February or October? If its October then should I be calling since we filed in August?
Thanks in advance and good luck on your journeys!
If in wrong thread please feel free to move it thanks again!

How to count household size >
Your household size includes yourself and the following individuals, no matter where they live: any spouse, any dependent children under the age of 21, any other dependents listed on your most recent Federal income tax return, all persons being sponsored in this affidavit of support, and any immigrants previously sponsored with a Form I-864 or Form I-864 EZ,
The income requirement is based on current annual income, not what you made last year and what shows on last year's taxes, unless you are self-employed. Your household member's income will not count for your affidavit. There is no combining of incomes with the I-134 for a K-1 visa. Your current income does not meet the income requirement, so you will need to find a co-sponsor or have enough in assets to make up for the shortcoming. Assets for a spouse/fiance(e) are usually counted at 3 times the income difference, though some consulates may require 5 times. There is no strict guideline for assets and the I-134, but in general, if you make $16k and need to make $19k, then you would need $9k - $15k in assets. Your foreign fiance's income/assets will not count, unless he has enough to self-sponsor and will interview in London. London is the only consulate I know of that for sure allows self-sponsorship.
Ok so basically in my case it would be myself and my husband seeing as to how I'm not responsible for anyone? Even though I claimed my friends children in my last tax return but they no longer live with and I'm not financially responsible for them right?
-
You would count in your household yourself, your fiance, and anyone you support...ie.. anyone you claim on your taxes. If someone else claims you on their taxes this complicates things a little. So when you file taxes next month how many people will you claim?
I'm actually glad that someone else has asked this same question, because last year a friend of mine lived with me. She didn't work and I basically took care of everything therefore with her permission I claimed her children as dependent on me (she had no one here). Since then she has returned to her country therefore I don't have any dependents anymore but they will obviously show on my tax return from last year. Question is how or what am I supposed to do about that? I'm not to this stage yet as matter of fact we're still at the NBC, but I'd like to get an in sight as too what would be the correct thing to do.
