  1. My husband is from Colombia and what they do there is he had to go to the "police station" and pay a fee to get them to email him a link where he can get copy of his criminal record (which he doesn't have any). He was able to forward me the original email and on it it says original document and its in English, Spanish and French. They may have something similiar in your home countrys? Its worth a shot right :)

  2. I know for me (USC) they wanted a single status letter (apostilled from my residing state), a copy of my passport, and my original birth certificate (from my birth state apostilled which they kept). all translated and actually my husband got it all translated in his home town (Pereira) with a certified translator.

    Hope this helps smile.png

  3. 1) called NVC and find out instead of waiting for email.

    2) 8 weeks is their normal answer.. NVC will have your case withing 2 weeks after Noa2.

    So keep calling them.

Thanks Deep! I've been calling since a week after I got the NOA2 hardcopy. I actually asked the guy (whom was very nice) if it actually took that long to get it into their system and he said sometimes it takes alot less I recommend calling often. Just thought I'd share that smile.png

Also after I get the case number is that when I can start logging into their system and do the appointment of agent?

  4. Hi! You may want to take another look at the second post in this thread. It explains everything you need and for what purpose. Basically, at NVC there are two major steps that need to happen: 1) the petitioner will submit an Affidavit of Support (AOS), demonstrating financial support of the beneficiary (I-864 is the AOS); and 2) the beneficiary applies for an Immigrant Visa (IV) (DS260 is the application). So, each one of these steps have a processing fee. These two fees will only be available after your case enters NVC's system and case numbers are assigned and after you file the DS-261 online (if you don't have a lawyer).

Thanks Gee&Cee for your help! I had read and reread it but still couldn't understand it......lol don't ask why it just didn't make sense to me. smile.png

PS. Is it still availble because my first page on the forum shows for Feb 2014?? I even tried clicking on the links on Saylin's post and nothing comes up..huh.pnghuh.png

  5. Ok guys.... so I've been trying to get all the things that we might need for the NVC and so far here's what we have : I-864EZ (since I am the only sponsor), tax transcript, photos of us, emails, phone logs originals and copies of marriage license and both my BC and his BC translated.....now my question is the DS 260 is what we get to pay online for the NVC when they get our case right? Also what is the IV bill slightly confused on this one?

  6. So I just got off the phone with the NVC after waiting a week since my NOA2 date to call and see if they have my case. They said they don't have it and that it takes 8 weeks to receive it. wow.gif . Has anyone else seen this to be the case and had to wait 8 weeks? What has the average time been lately until NVC receives the case? I'm flabbergasted and thought it would only take a week or two, at the most.

Yep I just off the phone with a very nice lady also, and she told me that its taking 6-8 weeks. Course its only been a week for us.....wow.gifwow.gif

  7. There are 3 requirements on the I-864EZ. If you meet them, you can use that.

As for the household count, for someone who is sponsoring their spouse and no other people in their household it should look like this:

    864l.gif

yes, they will email you back. It takes about 2-3 weeks though which is why you send the email as soon as you have the case number. Don't send anything until after you get the email back or else you risk slowing your file down.

Thanks NLR! This really helped alot :)

  8. Hey Saylin could you add me to your spreadsheet also please....... how soon is it TOO soon to start calling the NVC about our case.....I mean since we just got approved on 03/06?

Also slightly confused on the I-864 and I-864EZ form (looked at both) it says your household size yourself and the person your sponsoring and there's a 2 on part A and on part B it says your spouse since I'm sponsoring my husband would/shoyld I but a 1 there or skip it since the person I'm sponsoring IS my husband??
