  1. Hi everyone.

I'm wondering if anyone else was denied at their interview because of missing documents. I was missing a police certificate and sent it in on April 20th. I keep calling DOS, but so far there have been no changes to my case. Is anyone in a similar situation or have recently received their visa and can tell me how long it took them. I'm getting so frustrated. The consular officer said it would take 2-4 weeks after they received it but he didn't really say if 'receiving' it meant getting it from canada post or from when they actually open it. We are hoping to get married on the July 2nd. I wonder if we will be able to.

I've noticed that there have been a lot of DCF filers in Canada that have had to send in additional documentation. I suggest going into the "Direct Consular Filing (DCF) General Discussion" and going through the first 5-10 pages to find some Canadian threads. Sorry I can't be more help. Good luck to you!

  2. Already did that yesterday, as expected.. they were no joy. Actually, it was weird, it was like she didn't hear my qn, she just reeled off this "so you're not calling because X and "you're not calling for X" etc etc. It was quite strange. Like talking to a machine really.

She DID tell me that they access the system a difft way to us so she doesn't see exactly what I see.

Re the MSC yeah. I tried to "Case status" page (without logging in that is) and was given the same "locked out" message. Think maybe they're telling us to calm down? I think when it goes back up we'll crash their system... :P

Someone just posted a thread that said it is down for 4 hours. Hope you have a transfer to CSC and not an RFE. Good luck!

  3. Okay so I commented the above... 40 mins ago.. basically implying that the site being down doesn't matter.. I have my text updates after all... I have since changed my mind.

I just received a text from the USCIS site telling me that my case has been updated (gave me a receipt number which I checked my NOA1 for and it's my I-485) and to LOG ONLINE TO CHECK IT!! Right. Totally possible. God I hope it's not an RFE... officially giving myself permission to freak out...

So, do I call the mis-information line? Or just wait till the site comes back up?

YAY!!!! Are you getting the locked out message as well? If you do call, will you PLEEEEASE ask them WTH that is about?

edit: Do you have your MSC numbers? I have been able to type mine in and see what the status is, but only sporadically.

  4. I thought I did that too, but the website is simply down. and I think according to your timeline you should be close to at least AP and EAD so cheer up! My case is not even at CSC and I've had to touch since after bio too, so I am trying REEEEEEEAAAALLLY hard to be patient and optimistic :)

Thanks for the support. :) It's just getting harder the longer this goes on. The money situation is putting a bit of a strain on things, mostly because of memories of my ex from several years ago not wanting to get a real job so our newborn could have diapers. I just have to keep reminding myself that my husband is the most incredible man I have ever met and that this is only temporary. He has already started applying for jobs so that is really helping.

It can't be much longer for us March filers now. We are already more than halfway to the 'SR for EAD' point of over 3 months.

  5. While www.uscis.gov is still down, I just received the following:

Email and text message: notification of I-131 (AP) approval; Current Status: Approval notice sent.

Email only, no text message: notification of I-I765 (EAD) approval; Current Status: Card production ordered.

    Come on GC!!!

YAY! I'm excited for you. Especially since you pointed out we have such similar timelines. ;) Hope more people get good news before the end of the day!!

  6. I just got an e-mail saying "your case was transferred and is now being processed at the USCIS office". So my case was at the CSC a week as well.

Transferred to CSC on May 5

Transferred to USCIS office on May 11

This means that CSC has it and is processing it. Those of us in the March group all received the same info. It is confusing and made me wonder if it was sent to my local office, but it has not been. Astrid in our group received the same information and within 3 weeks of the confusing email she had her green card approved.

  7. Looks like we have the same timeline (transferred on 4/9), but my last update on the AoS was 5/4/2010.

As far as I know our last touch was 5/4, the day after Biometrics. Right now I can check the statuses by typing in the number, but I still cannot log onto the USCIS account to see the Last Updated Date.

I hope I haven't actually locked myself out, as the hubby refuses to call them. :(

  8. USCIS just gave me an error.. "My Case Status

It was reported to us that your IP address or internet gateway has been locked out for a select period of time. This is due to an unusually high rate of use. In order to avoid this issue, please create a Customer account (single applicant) or a Representative account (representing many individuals). "

    :crying:

  9. I had an ASC appointment for I485 and I765 on April 16th and the last update for I485 and I765 was on April 19 (I checked them online). I haven’t gotten EAD yet but I have received NOA last Wednesday about upcoming interview which will be next month. Does anyone know how long it takes to get EAD? On the notice that I received says I must bring EAD and any authorized advance parole. Am I going to get EAD before the interview?

    Thanks in advance!!!

It's too hard to say what will happen. It is possible you may get your EAD this month. Please fill in your timeline.

  10. The lack of an electric tea kettle isn't exactly the problem. I found some Tetley tea bags in my local store. Tetley tea isn't my favourite, I admit, but I excitedly thought they would do the job until my next consignment of Yorkshire Tea gets sent over by my forgetful mother. The English varieties of tea they sell here are not the same at all. I know water has a huge impact on the taste of tea, but my Yorkshire tea was at least palatable. All I want is a nice cup of tea!

We had a little English place here that would serve only tea and pastries. I think it's closed now though. :( Maybe next time we are visiting a big city we will find somewhere that serves decent tea.

  11. I live in Saratoga Sp. in Utah County. Thanks for that info. I didn't know about the fee. What's the maximum days you can have a book?

I usually get books for 4 weeks, unless it's a New Release that 50 people have a hold on - then it is 2. Our DVDs we check out have a 2 week limit. You can also renew online.

Geez! I wish my husband, the immigrant that has had nothing but time on his hands right now, was as excited about the massive library as you and I are. ;)

  12. And how exactly am I being a troll? The topic is 'Irritating BS your SO does.' I posted a story exactly relating to the topic. A few people even found it entertaining, right up until the time this Jules came along looking for trouble. I wasn't even attacked for being angry with my fiancee, I was attacked for not being poor enough, I suppose.

No wonder America has such a horrid reputation. If I don't live in a trailer, don't carry a gun in my waistband, and have enough money to take care of myself and my fiancee without having to rely on massive credit card debt, then I must be a horrible troll, is that it?

You are offensive to me and I assume to the other people that are responding to you. Earlier you stated that you would have come on an investor visa, but the US is not worth investing in. It's the general attitude you have been using in your posts. You, sir, have a lot of growing up to do. Marriage will be good for you. Good luck.

  13. When I told my husband last night about this topic, he smiled and asked "so did you tell them about my eye scratching?" That reminded me; he sounds like he's pumping water from his eye whenever he scratches it. I think I'm just married to a very water-ey head.

That's so cute! After reading that I thought about how your pictures are usually by a ocean or body of water. Maybe he is Aquaman.

I told my husband about some of the posts on here too, but I didn't want to share what I wrote because I could just imagine what he would want to contribute. He would probably say something I'd have an urge to smack him for. ;)

  14. Wow, Scrooge McDuck is filing for a K1?

The good thing about the immigration process and getting married, for me anyways, was that it really forced me to start being more mature. I'm thinking it was mostly the adjusting to real life with a spouse.

  15. Here's a refresher on Netiquette, for anyone that is interested. I can't use Wikipedia on my research papers, but I spend a bit of time on it because it is enlightening for a quick read. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flaming_(Internet)

    [edit] "Flame wars"

A flame war results when one or more users engages in provocative responses to the originally posted flamebait. Flame wars often draw in many users (including those trying to diffuse the flame war) and can overshadow regular forum discussion if left unchecked.

Resolving a flame war can be difficult, as it is often hard to determine who is really responsible for the degradation of a reasonable discussion into flame war. Someone who posts a contrary opinion in a strongly focused discussion forum may be easily labeled a "baiter," "flamer," or "troll." Therefore, it seems especially important to make the rules and focus of a discussion forum public to avoid misconceptions about its accepted use.

Some[who?] suggest the best approach to resolving a flame war or responding to flaming is to communicate openly with the offending users. Acknowledging mistakes, offering to help resolve the disagreement, making clear, reasoned arguments, and even self-deprecation have all been noted as worthwhile strategies to end such disputes. However, others prefer to simply ignore flaming, noting that, in many cases, if the flamebait receives no attention, it will quickly be forgotten as forum discussions carry on.[3] Unfortunately, this can motivate trolls to intensify their activities, creating additional distractions.

Taking the bait or feeding the troll refers to someone who responds to the original message regardless of whether they are aware the original message was intended to provoke a response. Often when someone takes the bait, others will point out to them YHBT for "You have been trolled," or reply with "don't feed the trolls." Forum users will also frequently "rate" the troll as means of acknowledgment, with statements such as "0/10, the obvious troll is obvious," or "10/10, I raged."

    So... don't feed the troll.

  16. I have to tell you being the American...I only use my microwave for microwave popcorn. It's probably the most expensive popcorn maker out there...LOL. Oh, sometimes I use it to thaw meat too, but that's about it!

We had a funny experience a few days ago. I told him I'm sorry I was the worst cook he's ever met. He told me he ate worse once or twice at University, because they use to make Mars Bar toasties. He went on to explain what a toasty machine was.. So I said, "Oh, like the sandwich maker we have far back in the middle cabinet?" OMG! I pulled it out and he acted like a kid at Christmas. Who knew that a little machine that seals cheese or whatever else inside bread would make someone SO happy.

  17. I hope I will receive something soon. Nothing since they "couldn't process" their biometrics and nothing since the biometrics do-over. Not even a touch. It's great that everyone else is moving along though, hopefully all of your applications were on top of mine in the pile and they will get to mine next? haha

We're right there with you. ;) We were thinking Dave would be close to his EAD or GC by now. It doesn't seem like people are getting approved for either very quickly though.

The good news is we don't have to both get time off work when we want to take off. This weekend is going to be a small roadtrip for us to Colorado. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm hoping it helps keep him from going crazy.

  18. (I wish we live in Salt Lake City so I could go to the big library for free. They might have PHP books that will keep my attention. )

Which city do you live in? You can definitely go to the library for free to study. To check out books you have to pay $80 a year if you are not a resident of SL County. I live in Davis County but drive past it every day since I work in Research Park by the University. The $80 has been worth it as I borrow a LOT of movies from there, especially British TV shows.

  19. Aw man, I have one. My fiance gets these muscle spasms when he sleeps, left over from a childhood illness. This wouldn't be such a big deal, but he's a big guy - 5'4'', and fairly muscular. That means that when he spasms, he sometimes literally punches and hits me when we sleep together. He feels bad about it, but what do you do? :) He says I steal sheets though, so maybe we're even.

Also he spells words with extra u's. What's with that?

  20. As someone who posted one of the more serious complaints, I already regret this and would love to know how I can delete it.

It's no excuse, but I was having the roughest day yesterday for a very long time (I've been in Administrative Processing for over ten weeks for unknown reasons, if that's a clue), and in a fit of bad temper wrote something I shouldn't. Neither my husband nor I are perfect, but we're both trying our best, and I know he goes to great lengths to make me happy.

So, if anyone can help me delete/edit my post I'd be grateful because I can't find a way to do so - thanks.

I have been following the London waiver thread for months due to my growing interest in immigration law. The people on it seem to be the sweetest ever. Your post did not seem hateful to me. I hope the issue you posted about is easier for you when you are here. If you want to drop a line to vent privately I am always free!

  21. Yes, subtlety doesn't seem to work well with her.

There's a lot of instances where I've had communication problems. I know that even couples that grew up in the same neighborhood have difficulties. I've learned that even being direct doesn't work all the time. Sometimes things need to be interpreted, repeated back, and then clarified some more. With the US-UK differences there's even more room for error!!

I told my husband the awhile ago that he should look into 'getting on' at the university here. He was insulted!!!! It turns out he thought I meant he needed to go back to school for an advance degree since he has a Bachelor's. I actually meant he should look into the job openings. I love all the little differences, without them life wouldn't be as interesting.
