  1. The internet in the philippines is terrible no matter what you use. Anything wireless like smart bro, or wimax is junk. DSL or cable is the way to go and both of those are unreliable and have slow downs or disconnects often.

Those "wireless" services that claim up to 21Mbps down are a lie, in fact you can't find someone that has ever seen that speed. The latency and ping times are horrible and that matters a lot.

I suggest some sort of dsl, like pldt is about as good as it will get. Its over priced, slow , but thats our world

  2. I think it would look much better if she turns 18 and then you proceed to petition her/marry her. 21 and 17 in the usa would land you on the sex offender registry depending on the state. I don't know how uscis would view that even though its legal/normal age difference in the philippines

  3. Our son is born! wife had a rough time and ended up with a c-section due to the babies weight, 9lbs! Big boy. We are all at home now , surviving the floods. I can finally rest easy knowing it all worked out.

  4. yes the jobs have contracts and fines if you leave or quit within contract time etc. But if she is leaving to the USA then good luck with them actually doing anything about it. It will never happen. So tell her to take the job of her choice and not worry about it.

  5. I think the healthcare in many ways is better in the Phil, because i can actually afford it. Lets compare, I stayed in a nice hospital in the ER over night, had an ultrasound, pain meds, urine test. Total cost about $180 to $200 usd.

In the USA i'm sure that would have been $2,000

While i agree that i think the Care in the USA is much better , more modern equipment etc But i would say for a majority of basics , the philippines is a better option . Makati Medical and Saint Lukes are nice hospitals

  6. Good thing about the philippines is at the healthcare is affordable. In the USA one ER visit could cost you $1,000 usd or more. In the philippines its more like less than $200. Also you can buy medicines without a prescription (only a few) but sometimes thats all you need so you avoid the doctor visit all together.

  7. Socialism is an economic concept that advocates public ownership of all resources. The production and distribution of resources with a society are then controlled by members of that society collectively or by the government that represents that society. Goods are produced and distributed based on need rather than on market forces such as profitability, price and consumers' purchasing power. In a socialist economy, workers contribute to society based on their ability and receive according to their needs, rather than being paid wages and using that money to purchase what they want. Private possessions are limited to personal-use items such as clothes, and there is no need or ability for individuals to accumulate wealth, so there is equality among the people.

I don't see it, 'socialist government' individuals do accumulate wealth and poverty is rampant. There is no equality among the people only the have and have not!

I'm simply saying that its my person perspective that the philippines is more socialist than the USA. They have some government healthcare , you pay a tax to support senior citizens. Often the government subsides , Jeepney drivers get fuel subsidies http://business.inquirer.net/39305/jeepney-drivers-with-fuel-smart-cards-to-each-get-another-p2k-subsidy

"The program, which was launched May last year on the initiative of the Department of Energy, gives fuel subsidies to jeepney and tricycle drivers to help them cope with the spiraling oil prices. "

Not a big deal for me, i'm more worried about the terrible humidity.
