Wow, seriously Olivia? Where are you getting your information? Have you spoken to your husbands family in Egypt? Have you read the news lately?
This isn't just "blowing over" any time soon. My sister in law lives just blocks from Tahrir and it's a crazy mess! She's been attacked twice being less than one block from our home as recent as two months ago and we live across the street from a police station. Does she ever see the police out? Just about never.
As for the majority voting Morsi in, by what percent? Really? Not much and what he did win with was probably more because his hetchmen where out offering bribes for votes (BTW, both sides did this not just the Brotherhood), We know for fact, since if happened to my SIL, aunt and cousins.
I'm not trying to scare RFQ, but the reality is Egypt is a mess. Foreigners aren't safe like they used to be. Period.
I know people who visited and were perfectly fine. Most of them stayed outside of downtown, which is better but bad things are happening all over Egypt. As long as RFQ is with family I'm sure things will be okay but it's better to be aware then not, just don't down-play something you don't know for certain, Olivia.

idk I don't think i'd get bent over someone telling me to be careful while traveling to a highly volatile country.
I also would be more trusting of ihq's assessment of the area than my husband's considering she would have no reason to lie. Whereas my husband would be more apt to sugarcoat the situation in order to get me over to egypt. But then I'm no longer newly in love and I'm more aware of my husband being full of sh!t most of the time lol.

Why would I? Because we're so close? Olivia, I'm not going to defend myself to you or anyone else. I don't have to. I live here and live in it, every single day. I know what's going on.
Oh, and as for if a foreigner's involved? Not. There aren't "tourism police" anymore. Tourists, just like anyone else, are on their own.
Alrighty, Olivia. Two weeks and the chaos that's been going on for almost two years will be done and over with. Right on. Whatever you say.
BTW, Morsi was elected by 25% of Egyptians, which isn't a majority by any stretch of the word. His election results were a whopping 2% higher than the next guy, who happened to be Mubarak's last Prime Minister. They were choosing between the lesser of two evils, knowing the result was going to be evil. For those who weren't convinced, kilos of meat, refrigerators, and air conditioners helped sway their opinion.
Ah, you're confusing the Constitution Assembly (which Morsi appointed) with the top Judges (which Mubarak appointed). The Judges have been around for a long time. The Assembly rushed a vote on the Constitution (after everyone that wasn't pro-sharia walked out) because the Judges will vote TOMORROW to decide whether the Constitutional Assembly is illegal. Before the now famous "decree," the Judges intended to vote whether some decision made a few months ago was illegal, and if they chose it to be illegal, the presidential election would have been illegal and power would have returned to the military. The reality is the decree prevented a military coup. Whether that stays or not remains to be seen. Morsi is to either approve or deny all or part of the draft Constitution today, then it goes to a popular referendum. The problem is, the Judges must preside over the referendum, and they haven't worked for a week and it doesn't look like they plan to any time soon. These are the same Judges, by the way, that have somehow managed to find every single person charged with crimes against protesters not guilty; they're Mubarak's people.
This speaks to how utterly clueless you are about what you're talking about. There is no Egyptian Parliament. The Judges got rid of that democratically elected representative body months ago.
Women's rights? Most folks are genuinely bent because the Constitutional Assembly flat our refused to prohibit sex trafficking because it would "make Egypt look bad." The reality is sex tourism, both men (the Gulf Arabs) and women (think tourist resorts) bring money into the country on the backs of the poor and Egypt isn't willing to let that go. They also refused to set a minimum age for marriage of girls to 18, as it is now, because nine is "sharia." Oh, and FGM? They had a fit several years ago when that became illegal, so the law was changed to "medically necessary" (read: pay a doctor to say your daughter has to have her bits cut off). With this constitution it will be a-okay.
Have you even read the draft Constitution?

That was almost 6 years ago. A lot has changed in that time like processing times going from 90 days to 6-9 months. I felt lucky when it took ONLY 120 days from NOA1 to visa approval. I could not image waiting 6 months like people are currently stuck doing. Of the old posts about the process, the one posted by Gary and Alla had good information on what they look at, what is good evidence, etc.. I does give those in the process something to pass the time while they wait. .

You really don't have a clue as to why you would have been denied? Really? Not an inkling that perhaps it's YOU? That perhaps your behavior could be the reason? Aside from the obvious fact that your fiancee is old enough to be your mother, what do YOU think is the reason you got denied? Perhaps your eagerness and your fiancee's lack of action and commitment to the process? Perhaps your comments on this forum as well as Facebook or any other public internet forums/social networking sites ie poetry forums? It could be a lot of reasons and they all pretty much point to you.

Take a look around you --- how many Moroccan grandmoms with kids are hooking up with Moroccan guys your age in your town/city/country?
If it's not socially acceptable in the country of the beneficiary, and in fact frowned upon in the beneficiary's country, it's a reason for refusal.

The fact that you are calling them and seem more eager for the visa than your fiance seems for you to have the visa, isn't a good sign for them, I'm sure.

This seems like the exact same question I just answered last week... I explicitly listed out the reasons one can get denied a K-1 petition. Just because you ask the question in different words doesn't mean you'll get a different answer. My statement to you was, based on the form you shared with us last week, the reason had to either be because they think you could be a threat to the US government or its citizens, or that they don't believe your relationship is legitimate. Since i don't know your entire story, I'm going to base my assessment on what I've seen you write on VJ.com. Again, only you can know for sure what your situation is, but to me it looks like they think you're only after a green card, and that your relationship isn't legitimate. You've given them plenty of reasons to think this, based only on what you've shared here on VJ.com (not including what you haven't shared with us here on the site). Some of these include:

staring at the CO's breasts during interview
having a significant age gap between you and your SO
her being outside of child-baring age range (I think that you said this is the case, anyway)
the fact that you're clearly much more interested in applying for this visa than she is in helping you apply
The apparent disinterest that is shown by you to your SO
These are just the ones I can think of off of the top of my head.

I'm not saying your relationship isn't legit (there's no way for me to know that). But based on what I know of your case, I'm not convinced you've got the real thing, and I'm not even trained to ferret out fake relationships. Just sayin'

I dont understand your question? What do you mean "most common reasons for refusal when it comes to age gap"?
It has been advised many times on here...because of past fraud with younger males meeting older American women just for immigration purposes, CASA is very skeptical of K1 visa's with this type and size of age gap. You had a hard battle from the start. Alot of us went through this exact scenario, but some did not have the advantage you and your fiance had by the info on VJ. Get her involved, I am thinking she would have been a wiser woman if she was reading the past journeys of others.

Have him book your ticket from Egypt, when December is not the height of travel season. He should get a much better price that way.

Its simple for us, lol, we agree to disagree. Sometimes I think we agree more than it seems at first as things get lost in translation. I think its one of the many good things about our relationship, is that we can discuss things, heated things, but neither of us is inclined to take it personal when we disagree. I can tell him I think he's out of his mind and vice versa, and we laugh it off. It has taken me a bit to get used to his view of the US (not our people, but policy) that I am not used to hearing-- as in world politics/ foreign policy mostly. I've definitely had to reevaluate my views and make them more broad.
Before we even began talking about moving forward with an engagement, we tackled all the major issues. Once we knew we were compatible with those things, the rest we can work through.

For me both Romney and Obama are awful. Two sides of the same damn coin. If I vote it will be for Jill Stein. My fiance thinks Obama is the lesser evil and would vote for him if he were a USC. Though my fiance is from a very traditional society even by Arab standards he has very liberal, even leftist values. Some of these beliefs he had all along and others were learned. When I met him he was pretty hostile towards homosexuals but over time I wore him down and now he thinks everyone has the right to pursue their own happiness. It was just a product of his up-bringing. But once he started traveling and being exposed to different ideas and cultures there was no turning back.
There are certainly some topics we tend to stay away from but for the most part we always respect each other's opinions even when we disagree. It's not easy we both can be argumentative! But I think agreeing on the more important aspects of life - goals, values, etc are far more important than the superficial stuff.

We are just the opposite. I am a card carrying Republican and he is liberal. The only exception is that he is also pro-life and I have more liberal views towards homosexuals. We have just agreed to disagree and generally don't talk about politics. Sometimes it's just easier that way.

Meh - I don't think you should be so concerned about what people on the internet think of you man. You should be far more concerned with what the CO's wrapping up your case think of you. I think what we all want to know is what the outcome was for your 221g. But your interview wasn't that long ago so you may not know. Be sure to tell us when you do!
