  1. Just to keep track of EDD:

    Team J and B - July XX, 2010

    RedBlue - Aug 16, 2010

    Valerie A - Aug XX, 2010

    Revenesque - Aug 21, 2010

I know Valerie A and I are close in DD, like 2-3 days apart.

so I'm wondering above listed Vjers are planning to deliver their babies in Canada or moving to US while preggo and deliver it there?

  2. OMG! Were you talking and eating solids already when you came out?

Two weeks overdue is a long time! How much did you weigh at birth?

Being preggo now,you guys are scaring me...

who else is pregnant around here?

    I'm due on Aug 16,2010....

  3. RedBlue-Congrats on your pregnancy! All the best for you and your baby at this time for a healthy pregnancy.

I have no idea about medicals in Toronto (lol..I was pregnant before in the USA..though I used to be from TO..lol..)

But...Whatever you do..If you are pregnant...

DO NOT HAVE ANY X-RAYS DONE! (as that is harmful to you and your baby)

As well...Make sure any medications, vacines, tests, etc. that you have are safe for you and your baby too...

Yours abd your babys heath should not be at risk!

Just tell the medical exam doctor that you are pregnant, and I'm sure they can have some sort of acomodation and waiver for you, as for what is ndeded for immigration for you while pregnant.

Hope this helps. Good luck on your journey and pregnancy too.

    Ant

there is no way that I'm gonna get X-ray this time........thanks so much for the e-mail

  4. Hi everyone:

We have very personal situation where we might need to stay a few extra months than planned in Toronto once we get our visa.

Since CR1 visa needs to be activated within six months, can I just go to the closest POE,enter the US,activate the visa and come back to Toronto the same day, stay a few months more here and permanently go back to the US?

If we can't do this,I'm afraid we will have to re-schedule the interview which I really don't wanna do it.

Has anybody needed to do this?

I would appriciate for any help.

  5. I had called NVC a few weeks ago to see if we're scheduled for Jan and they said I should call them back by Dec 14,09 so that they can see whether or not we got an interview for Jan,2010.

I would say if u haven't received an email/mail,then most likely u don't have an interview for Jan,sorry

  6. Honestly looking at your timeline, its not bad. Ours left NVC December 31, 2008 and we didn't get an interview till April 17/09. At we really didn't get much notice from the time we were notified of the interview and the interview. If you decided to do it, I would address it as a letter of concern as opposed to a complaint letter. Good luck and I hope your interview comes soon.

I know that my timeline is not bad yet. I'm so frustrated when I hear that I have to wait 4-5 months just to get an interview.I thought I can do something before it gets to that point.

  7. Not much thought???

I've been putting thought into this since last thanksgiving!!

I need to figure out a new strategy. I was thinking, cook it early, eat early, and then I'll be able to recoup and come back later for more. The whole elastic waist pants doesn't always work... in fact I think the stretchable waist gives one a false sense of security and lets you down more than lets you out... if you know what I'm sayin.

LoL, So do you have your "Holiday Eating" clothes?

  8. So, this topic might already exist and if it does I apologise! Lately I'm feeling really nervous about moving (even though I won't be for several months) and I would love some positive reinforcement! So, please tell me what you LOVE about living in America, OR if you haven't moved yet, what you are looking forward to! Specifically, I'm looking for things that you love/look forward that either aren't available in Canada, are different in Canada or just blatant preferences in comparison to Canada. Note: I'm really not looking to bash on Canada, just looking for some positive reinforcement!

I'll start! Some things I am looking forward to:

    - Better weather! I am greatly looking forward to longer, hotter summers, milder winters and earlier spring!

    - More reasonable cost of living (I currently live in Alberta where a 2 bedroom apartment is ~$1000+, a 2 bedroom apartment in SLC, Utah is ~$600!)

    - Waffle fries. I know they're terrible for me but I love them and I have never seen them in Canada.

    - Being able to watch clips on www.hulu.com ... A silly thing to look forward to be something to look forward to nonetheless! I can't stand it when I get that "this is not available in your area" message and really look forward to being able to watch whatever I want whenever I want!

    - Cheaper airfare to overseas destinations (compared to the cost from Edmonton, anyway ;P)

So, those are all the ones I can think of ... any and all contributions would be greatly appreciated!

    - Ali :)

    Being closer to the ocean

Being closer to the lots of beaches

    Warmer weather,no more snow

Access to all other beatiful cities(san diego, san francisco, vegas etc....

    Cheaper food &gas

Moving to LA by the way

  9. OhNOeS, now that you all know, there won't be room for MY spouse : P

So this begs the question, is there any reason why someone who is living in the U.S. cannot sponsor their spouse as a PR and then the fact that they live together, although perhaps have never lived in Canada, would suffice for the American to maintain their Canadian residency for PR purposes.

KnJ, do you know where you found the information or who you talked to that gave you this information?

    trailmix -- apparently yes

bertiemae -- a friend, who for a living helps people with immigration to Canada. Not a lawyer, but someone who works with the system and reads about the process all the time.

lets say my husband and I are married for four years. We live in US and apply for his Canadian PR status&citizenship from US.Since we've been married four years, they will be able to count those four years for his CDN citizenship so that he will be a CDN citizen automatically by being married to a CDN for four years...

    is that right?

The information about accompanying a Canadian citizen or PR outside the country and having that time be considered as 'residency' is here.

    Residency obligation

    Calculating days present in Canada

To meet the residency obligation, you must have been physically present in Canada for a minimum of 730 days within the past five years. If this is not the case, you may also count the days you spent outside of Canada in the following circumstances:

    A. Accompanying a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident outside Canada

    Accompanying a Canadian citizen

Each day that you are accompanying a Canadian citizen outside Canada is considered a day for which you satisfy the residency obligation provided that the person you are accompanying is your spouse, common-law partner or parent (if you are a child under 22 years of age).

The total number of days that you spend accompanying a Canadian citizen may be added to the total number of days for which you otherwise satisfy the residency obligation.

  10. Hi All! I just called the DOS this afternoon in hopes that they might have info about our interview date and we were told that our interview has been scheduled for November 12th!! I was slightly shocked when the operator informed me that we actually had a date. She said that Montreal had put it into the system on Oct. 1st.

The weird thing is that I am pretty sure the consulate decided to schedule our interview right after I emailed them last Thursday (Oct 1st) asking about our case status. I think that our case might have been pushed to the side and that emailing them brought it to their attention- we have been waiting for our interview since the end of June. Might be worth a shot to email the consulate for others as well...

what is the email adress that u use for interview related questions?

  11. Has anyone found a good cell phone provider for calling and texting Canada? I use phone cards because my cell company charges $.29/min for calling Canada. Texts cost me $.29 per text so I got a "bundle" that lets me send only 100 texts a month for $9.99 (this is just for texts sent to Canada, I also pay for a separate US text plan). I know I am not getting a good deal on either. When Sean moves here I would like to just change companies to make it easier for him to call home.

I tried searching online but didn't come up with anything.

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks!

we both use VoIP(voice over IP technology) for our landlines....US&CDN callings are also free..its around 15 $ per month with 15 features included.....
