I'm in the process of applying for a new passport in USA and I will have to fill out the form PPTC 132 since don't have any eligable guarantor .I was wondering if this form(as well as the copy of doc.s that I will be submitting) can be sworn and declared by the Notary Public ,would that be acceptable or do I have to go to the lawyer?
Thnx

Do your own pictures with a digital camera & a colour printer. That's what we did, and it was easy...Way easier than trying to find a photographer in the U.S. that does Canadian-sized passport pictures. Good luck!
if u take your own picture, then how do you manage meeting with the below requirements?
-
- Photos must be taken by a commercial photographer.
- The name of the photographer or studio, the address and the date the photo was taken (not the date the photo was printed) must be provided directly on the back of one photo (see illustration).
- The photos
must measure 50 mm x 70 mm in size (2 in. wide x 2 3/4 in. high).
was it acceptable by the passport office, when u did it?
thnx

I live in Los Angeles and I need to re-new my Canadian passport.I've read the application form and got some questions.Hopefully will get some help.
- Where did u get your CA passport photos taken in LA,CA?Does LA consulate provide such service?
- Now that I have a different last name after the marriage, should I submit US doc.s or CA doc.s to suppor identity?
- Did u pay the fee in CDN $ or US $?
- I need to fill out PPTC 132 "Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor but I can't find it online to download it.Do I have to go to the consulate in LA and get it in person?
Thnx

I don't see any pinned topic regards to how to register a newborn baby for CDN citizenship in USA and I was wondering if this has been discussed previously.
I'm mostly looking for tips/shortcuts type of things truout the process from those of you who've already done it.

Now that I'm 32 weeks pregnant ,I've been seeing two OBs from the beginning: A regular OB and a perinologist who looks after high risk pregnancies. And from the beginning ,I saw the difference between my Canadian OBs care and USA OBs care. I had two OBs in Canada and I was very unhappy with both of them due to lack of time spent with the patient and so many other reasons.
As a matter of fact my last and the second OB was very famous one who has books published and was practicing in one of the best teaching hospitals in Toronto: Mount Sinai. Yet;she never used to remember anything from my file every time when I visited her and she had to check the computer to remember any info about me. The first one was even worst who happened to be very laid back OB and told me everything was gonna be fine when i found out serious problems with my first baby. And ,I've lost the baby in the second trimester.
I've been having completely different experience in here. My OBs do remember me every time when they see me and they don't need to check their computer to remember all the info about me. I had a lot of routine tests here that I never had during my two pregnancies in Canada. My famous OB's secretary used to do the urine test sticks every time when I saw her. In here ,a nurse does that.
Overall I must say that I'm happy for being pregnant in USA more than I used be in Canada.Yes we pay alot for our insurance in USA,but I see that the quality is also different.
Did u also have different experiences in terms of prenatal care in both sides? If so ,how?

I noticed the yogurt tasted weird right away when we first moved here. I realized it had to be the High fructose corn syrup in it that made it taste funny. Not only did it taste weird but it makes my tongue tingle and not in a good way. We have found that almost all the brand names use it. The Kroger brand not the Kroger value one but the regular Kroger brand does not have HFCS in the mixed fruit yogurt. If you look for the Greek yogurt you probably would like that one better. No HFCS in em but they do use corn syrup so I am not sure weather it still would be too sweet, as I can no longer eat anything with corn in it my body has had enough from being here so I haven't tried it.
thats why I make my own yogurt,so easy....u should try it

The penalities would be the same as if you were still a resident of Canada. Interest would continue to build up, and eventually your account would be sent to a credit collections agency.
Call the credit card company and make arrangements for payments. Just because it is not "easy" )ie: most of them are just too lazy) for a US credit company to look up doesn't mean that all of them won't. Your bad credit in Canada can still haunt you in the US. And if you ever decide to return to Canada to live, you'll be pretty much screwed if you leave that credit card un-paid.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I agree, although the idea of racking up my cards and running off is tempting you never know when these things will come back to haunt you. I would have to imagine that even though your good score won't transfer that if you were applying for a major credit card a defaulted credit card from a sister company may hinder your chances.
Not to mention future employers may do a credit check on you and take the extra step to find your Canadian credit score.
if he doesn't live in canada anymore, how could they find him?Can they find him in USA via phone/address?Assuming none of his family members provide his USA address.

OK here is the official answer from SERVICE CANADA:
As long as you are a CANADIAN CITIZEN,yes you can still replace your SIN card to reflect your new married name even though you are a NON-resident of Canada. You just have to do it via mail.No cost at all.
-
did you get a US drivers license? They are suppose to take your canadian license when you get your us license... Lucky you
Yes I've got my US driver license, but they didn't take the CDN driver licence away.I'm one of those lucky ones I guess..

When we change our last name due to marriage,do we also have to re-new the CDN social sec. card, driver licence etc on the CDN side?
Can you have your married name on all doc.s on the US side, but have maiden name on the CDN side?
Thnx
