  1. Did I mention............................................................. MY HUSBAND GOT A JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!:dance::dance::dance:

He1l yeaaaaaaaah W! Which one did he get? Congrats!

A construction job of all things - he's NEVER done that type of work at all - go figure!!! They paid him today for work through today, ain't that cool!!! Now we sit down and discuss finances - oh joy! Have kinda been puttin that discussion on the back burner since I got some money from my grandmothers life insurance, but it's nearly gone. So time to cinch up the belt a bit.

  2. Since you have an approval letter KEEP IT and definitely use it to say "I have been approved, please give me my visa and I'll be on my way!!!!" Senegal embassy kept telling me I had to come back, that our visa wasn't ready, that the woman who puts the packages together wasn't in, that I didn't have an appointment, that they don't give out visas on that day, etc etc etc. I just kept showing the woman the piece of paper with the time we were to return and kept insisting we weren't leaving without the the visa, that I didn't care if the woman wasn't there they had other employees who could get it together, etc. She finally got tired of dealing with me and allowed me into the embassy, we were there less than 2 minutes and we had the visa packet in hand. It was just all BS, not sure why they were giving me hassles, the packet had been ready for 3 and 1/2 days (they date & time stamp it). Just tell hubby to be firm (not disrespectful) and refuse to leave without the visa since you have been approved and have a prescribed time to pick it up

  3. The OP's description of his treatment brings back unpleasant personal memories here, si man...

Legal counsel is a must. I would also (with an attorney, or alone) go speak with the police agency that has jurisdiction in your area. Sit down with a sergeant or lieutenant who has dealt with such things and who will take a written report. Explain the situation as objectively as possible, express your concerns for your safety, ask for what your options are, and get a copy of the officer's report or notes from this meeting -- or, at least, get the officer's name/badge number and the number of the police report (or the date/time of your meeting). The immigration issue is rather beside the point; your safety is the chief concern.

You will score a lot of points if, during your caucus with the police, you ask exactly how to handle matters if your wife blows up and says or does X, Y, or Z. This will add to your immediate credibility during the caucus, and it could also work to your benefit during legal proceedings later, si man.

This is by far the best advice I've seen here. Followed by Just Bob's battle plan. DOCUMENTATION is the name of the game my friend when dealing with ANY government agency. If it's written down with date and time it is FAR more believeable then just rattling off a list of things that have gone on. Start creating your documentation NOW.

  4. And if I hear "OH, I though since you two where married he automatically gets citizenship" one more time I thought I would shove a shoe where the sun dont shine!!!

Oh yeah, that one too! I hear all the time, "When is he going to get a job?' What's wrong if he doesn't get a job? I don't care!

I hear that one too. He cant even apply because we have no idea when he will get a green card, social sec # or be able to move. Would you hire someone who told you that at the interview? duh

oh yes he can apply. The IR1/CR1 stamp in his visa made him eligible to work the instant he set foot in the US.

I understand the way it works but I am telling you that no employer is going to do an interview and hire someone who has NO IDEA when he will be able to move to the US. It could be 6 months or 5 yrs we have NO IDEA!!!!

OH OK my mistake. I was thinking you were talking about when SO is here and not working yet.

  6. Hello everyone I just wanted to say that my wife passed the interview with no problems she speaks english but she made them speak French to her. They asked her about 3 ?s and asked me why do I love my wife, they asked me nothing else they asked for no pics, no texts, no proof nothing but the lady did ask me if I ever seen our VP when he comes to town  I think that all of the examples I got from Visa Journey helped alot

Thank you everyone and God Bless you all :innocent:

CONGRATS!!! The woman interviewer is WONDERFUL!!!! They only have one woman I was told so you must have had the same woman.

  7. Since hubs and I will be moving to a new apt, do you think I need to file for address change right away, that whole I-865 and A-11 deal, or do I not need to worry about it until it gets closer to Adjustment of Status time? The old address they have on file is my parents address, so we'll still get his GC and welcome letter fine...

    Your thoughts?

Girly you've already done the Adjustment of Status thing!!! His welcome letter and GC card will go to the address you have on file now. I would recommend you wait until you have those in hand. Our next step isn't for 2 years!!!

  8. Good evening,

I have a question regarding a co-sponsor for the K-3 Visa. I am filing my K-3 Visa application with an immigration law office and they have been telling me that I just need an employment verification letter, providing my hourly salary, that I am full-time and my hire date. I also had my employer provide in the letter that the benefits from my job would cover my spouse. In addition to this, I make more than the poverty limit (~$18,000) requirement by USCIS.

They told me that I would not need a co-sponsor since I am filing the I-130 and then the I-129F for the K-3. Is this true? It seems like I have been reading a lot of conflicting information on here and what they are telling me. I have a lot of confidence in what they have told me since they have worked with several clients from the same country to which I am applying and there is limited information on this website regarding the K-3 and to the country for which I am applying. The only thing that concerns me is having a co-sponsor ready if need be for the interview, which I think is the I-134. I just want to avoid all delays as possible for the visa as the process to bring my spouse over to the US is long enough as it already is.

Any comments or suggestions will be helpful! Thank you!

    Two things:

    1. DON'T USE A LAWYER THEY ARE A WASTE OF GOOD MONEY!

    2. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ON A K-3, GO WITH THE IR1/CR1 VISA.

Follow the IR1/CR1 Visa Guide here, get help from people here, and you'll be just fine

  9. Went through the same thing with my insurance company. I could have had husband covered if I asked within 30 days of our marriage. I told them it was kinda stupid for me to add him then since they wouldn't have covered anything overseas! Anyways, they told me that moving voluntarily from one country to another is not a life changing event - had he moved involuntarlily then it would have been consider - UGH!!! I too must wait until July next year to add him. Not sure I'll even add him as it will cost over $95 per week, hopefully by that time he'll have a job that provides it!

CONGRATS V & EKLONDON!!! Not to worry HisGirl, you'll be next.

  10. Hello helloooooooooo

How is everyone doing? Have something exciting to report? Almost all of us are with our SO now, surely there are happy news y'all have got to share?

Did I tell you all that husband's POE is 8.December? :D

Yep, 5 weeks from tomorrow my baby will finally be home. And speaking of home, I signed an application for a gorgeous apartment this past Saturday, I am waiting to hear from them today to see if I got it, and move in date would be November 14. It is so beautiful, I am in love with it, if I don't get this apartment I will die :D

It is a brand new building, and that means that no dogs and cats have pissed all over the carpets and shed their skin and hair there for years. I hate that animals are allowed inside homes, it grosses me out, so this place would be peeeeeeeeeeeerfect, pray for me!

I pray you get it V. I grew up with no animals allowed in the house so we have them in now. Of course I have kicked the cats and the puppy out because they refuse to be house trained so just one old dog who stays inside. This was new for SO.

  11. SO ventured off the island by himself yesterday to the "big city". He REALLY wants to work!! Anyways, he went to the social security office and filled out paperwork to get his SSN, they told him he'll get it in a couple of weeks. Today my son is taking him back to the city to the mall security to see if he can get a job there. My son used to work there so hopefully he still has some influence.

  12. So I just looked up the info and there isn't any real data from people on VJ going through Iraq. So best guessimate would be to go with the average which is interview scheduled the scheduling week 29 days after case complete or scheduling week after November 22nd which would be either 4th week of November or 2nd week of December for a January interview, but that is a COMPLETE guess since as I said there isn't any real data.

  13. ACTUALLY if you've watched scheduling at all for the last several months it is done the 2nd AND the 4th weeks of the month. ALSO NVC has NO impact on when your embassy schedules, how many your embassy schedules or which visas they schedule for, it's all up to your embassy. I haven't looked at the Iraq embassy timelines but I'm sure that most wait more than a month to get scheduled.

  14. I still don't quite understand the difference between the K3 and CR1. When you send in the I130 you've automatically applied for both, no? If one will be faster then you can abandon the one you have for the other. But other than differing processing times, what is the real difference and why don't they just automatically start processing the one that will be quicker? I'm doing DCF in Turkey for the CR-1. I hope that is the best route. I will verify it at the interview in December I suppose.

    The differences are:

COST - like $1000 more for the K3, AND

Spouse with CR1 visa can work in the US starting the day they arrive.
