Yes one of the MAJOR benefits of getting the CR1 - can work day 1! The stamp in your passport is your proof of being allowed to work.

Congrats!

To my 'selected'

If you can read the following paragraph,
Only great minds can read this

Absolutely part of the selected few. Actually science recommends reading things like this or backwards or upside down to help stave off Alzheimers.
Received 2nd welcome letter today. It's no wonder our country is in debt not only do they require everything in triplicate they approve in triplicate too

Received 2nd welcome letter today
I really detest government waste of tax payer money!

NO there are no more fees for a CR1 visa. Once you have paid the AOS & DS230 fee you are done, with the exception of medical fees, but those are to the dr not to embassy.
-
Yes we got the I551 stamp.
Still waiting on the green card and ssn - husband has now been in US for 26 days. We did get the welcome letter yesterday though so at least we are making progress.
-
Honestly, I'd advise the CR1 for 3 main reasons:
1. When SO get's here he can start working the day he arrives (if he chooses to)
2. The cost is A LOT less.
3. The time is NOT much longer for a CR1
-
You will have to be more specific. Where are you in the process? There are lots of fees - filing I-130, then there is the AOS fee, then there is the DS230 fee, there are fees to get birth certificates, police certificates, etc.

Hubby did ok at the interview - it was a group interview. One woman had recently been laid off from a different bank so she had a better chance of getting the job. It's ok though he just applied for another bank job that opened up and it's more hours. AND there is also an opening at the company my son works for installing wood, gas & electric stoves so something will come up soon, I'm not worried. We also got his welcome letter today WOO HOO!!! Hopefully that means his green card and ssn are not too far behind.
We have recieved 10 year green card. Thanks everyoneCongrats!!!

Hmmmm my husband just arrived from Tamba and he only got one PCC from Dakar. He lived in Thies too. I believe one PCC is sufficient for the entire country.
If thought In senegal you get one and one police certificate from the region where you were born. Please double check.
My husband was born in Nigeria so he got a PCC from Nigeria and one from Dakar, he didn't live in Dakar, he lived in Thies and in Tamba. He put on his DS230 the places he lived and the PCC he received was from Dakar and no one questioned it. I'm quite sure Senegal is a country that only has one PCC for the entire country, just like Nigeria.

WOO HOOO!!!
Job interview for hubby tomorrow afternoon!!! He actually got calls on TWO jobs today!!!! You have to understand there are a whopping 22 jobs listed for this island and he applied for the three he could do!!! The 1st job he got called for is for a farm store - which would be REALLY beneficial for our farm costs and it's 30 to 40 hours a week. The job he got the interview for is a bank teller, it's only 20 hours a week but definitely more something he'd prefer to do so a step in the door.
We'll pray and God will provide the best one!

I apologize if this question has been asked before.
I had my citizenship interview on 10/13/09 and I passed, ia have my oath ceremony on 10/23/09 and I'm from Romania. I would like to have a dual citizenship but I don't know exactly how or what do I need to do.
Please help me if you have any ideas.
THANK YOU.
I didn't think the US allowed people over 18 to have dual citizenship. I have a friend who had dual (Australian and US) while she was a child but once she turned 18 she had to choose. Maybe it's different now - that was 20 years ago.
US law only determines whether or not a person is a US citizen. The other country's law determines whether or not the person is also a citizen of the other country. US law doesn't care whether another country still considers you to be a citizen after the US considers you to be a citizen. But once you're a US citizen, US law doesn't give you extra privileges in the US for being a foreign citizen, too.
The US doesn't make you choose when you turn 18. But another country might force you to choose; either you renounce your US citizenship or they would revoke your citizenship in their country.
The dual citizenship FAQ goes over this and other points. It should probably be required reading for anyone in this forum.
Ah good to know. My friends parents are American and she was born in Austraila. She did have to choose one or the other when she turned 18 - not sure if it was the US or Austrailan government who made her do it. But the same thing happen for her brothers and sisters when they turned 18.
-
Lying on a government form is illegal. No one here should be recommending it I believe it is against TOS.

In a sense, this thread for some of us is moot. But I juest need a peace of mind in this time of stress and anxiety.
Whn you guys submitted your I-130, did you send wedding pictures or pictures of you and your spouse in general along with some letters, e-mails/chat logs etc? lol
Im knocking myself in the head now after readin a whole lot of threads in this site. I wish I stacked up heavily when submitting our application. All I sent is wahst requested (Marriage certificate, financial documents and 1 sworn affidavit from my aunt lol)
I thought the Marriage Certificate along with some bank transcripts would be enough. Damn it!@!!!!
I also just sent the basics and 3 affidavits, one from SO's friend at the wedding, one from a hired witness at the wedding and one from my mom who watched my children while I went to Africa to get married. As you can see from my timeline, our process went very quick. I don't believe in heavy loading (I know others disagree). I don't because I used to work in a government office and I can tell you from experience the large files are left for a day when the person feels like dealing with it. The smaller and well organized files are processed first.

Husband arrived Sept 29th and STILL don't have green card OR Social Security card!!! I called SSA on the 14th and they told me no card has been ordered and said to call USCIS which I did. Their STUPID auto information still didn't have us approved for NOA2!! I talked with a woman and she wouldn't give me any information told me we had to wait 30 days and if we hadn't gotten it by then, then they would investigate.
At least with a IR1/CR1 visa you don't have to have the green card and SSN to work, husband has a few very good leads and should be working soon.
-
Its been a week already and we have not heard anything about my husbands visa. How long does administrative Review take? This is so sad and frustrating. I thought because they kept my husbands passport it would be quicker.
Could be 2 weeks could be 2 years. Although, since they have his passport it probably won't be too long.
