My fiance and I met in Greater Faydark . . . Ok I know that makes sense to no one but the few who play EQ2, but it's true!

Sean and I both play a nerdy MMORPG called EverQuest 2 (EQ2). I joined the guild that he was in sometime in January 2007 (after taking a two year break from the game). On February 9th, 2007 his character, Sanction, was nice enough to help my alt and another guild member with a few low-level quests. A few days later my main character, Arabella (hence my forum name) and Sanction both helped someone with a quest mob and before we knew it we were working on quests together every night until midnight.

We would talk in "tells" and eventually he started calling me on the phone or we would talk on Ventrillo or Teamspeak. We would listen to music, I would sing (he loves my singing lol) and share about our lives. Out of all of my in-game friends, he was the most constant, the most sincere, the one I enjoyed spending time with the most. He and I would email back and forth at work to plan our nights of game-playing, and somewhere along the line we discovered that we had "real" feelings for eachother. He said he fell in love with me before he met me (awwww!). I knew I loved him and cared for him deeply, but I was skeptical that if we met we might find that our feelings weren't real afterall.

Fast-forward to April of 2008. Sean bought a plane ticket to come down to Florida to meet me (gulp) over our summer break (I am a school counselor and have the summers off)! He was so certain that we'd hit it off (at least as friends) that his return flight was 17 days later! Well on July 11th, 2008 a very nervous Floridian drove to the Orlando airport to meet an equally nervous Canadian. It was love at first sight!! We both instantly knew that we would love each other in person as well as through our emails, phone calls, letters, gifts, and in-game interactions. Since our first meeting in July, I have seen Sean every month except for August. We are able to maintain our long distance relationship quite well, even though we miss each other terribly.

In November I bought a plane ticket to visit Sean in Canada for Valentine's Day weekend (he told me that he never had a Valentine before). We had a fantastic weekend and he surprised me with a gorgeous engagement ring! It was a princess-cut center diamond (he calls me his princess) with a blue topaz heart on either side (his birthstone).

So we are still raiding 4 nights a week and we also read books together over the computer, email tons during the day, visit as often as possible, and enjoy all of the time we spend together. We are so happy to be getting married in the next year!!!

Okay, as a teacher (for 16 years) in the United States, I feel like I have to speak on behalf of Public Education here. First of all, every state, every city, and even every DISTRICT, in the US has different policies, procedures, and believe it or not, curriculum. I taught in Arizona and am now teaching in Michigan. Although the same topics are covered, some districts cover material at different levels. Unfortunately, it is a researched fact that Florida is in the bottom of all rankings for education. So, that's probably why domegirl had to take classes over again. Now, when it comes to private schools, they're just that. Private. They don't have to hold to the same standards as the public schools. Some schools are more lax than public (I've seen that from kids transferring in to my class from private schools) and orther private schools are more stringent than public schools (I've seen that too). So, fortunately or unfortunately, because the US school system is not government controlled, there will be those differences.

My fiance and I have gone round and round regarding education in the US vs. Canada. They both have their pluses and minuses. I'm trying to be honest here and not play favorites... honest!

I also agree with domegirl and treble... schooling is schooling. I do things differently than other 4th grade teachers at my school! LOL Just depends on who you get for what subject/grade which year!

In addition, some employers are only familar with their local education systems and are too dang lazy to find out on their own what else is out there.

Excellent post! Never forget, school in America is very dependent on the state and district. My cousins went to school in Kansas and they weren't taught about evolution while I went to school in Georgia. The teacher, by law, has to read a statement saying evolution is a theory and only a theory before we could learn about it. My friends that went to public school in New York were taught evolution without the theory statement.

VSC is not closed on weekends. My petition was updated on a Sunday. And they work in the evening as well - my approval was 1t 6 45 pm.

How do most people find out when the interview is sheduled? By calling DoS or do they mail out something to the beneficary?

Well I called on Friday and found out that our case was sent to the embassy in Montreal on Thursday and from what I have seen with the DHL tracking thing it was recieved on Friday but I cant be sure about that. I am going to visit Charles on Friday and come back on Tuesday night so will likely begin e-mailing the consulate after that point. I am soo excited about going to visit this weekend, its been over 2 months since I was there, planning to celebrate Valentines Day and the aproval, so I have a lot planned, including sleeping in, I have been soo busy, I work 2 jobs and go to school part time so I'm getting burned out even thought it is almost the end of the term... I am crossing my toes that this week will be your week to leave VSC!!! If not... I am going to raise some heck on your behalf! And Joe and Nadya, hopefully you guys get out of NVC asap!

Just be persistent , and if they wont give you what they want ask to speak to their superior. Mind you I would only recommend this if you are on the phone.. lol. I managed to get out of a 3 year Telus contract once... well my ex got on the phone and fought with them a while... But it still worked.

Don't waste $ on febreeze, buy an enzymatic spray, walmart sells one in the pet aisle to get rid of pet stains and smells, its is in a bottle similar to febreeze and roughly the same price, it works much better because instead of just covering up the smell and having stuff smell like old lady flowers and stale smoke the enzymes work to break down the actual molecules that are causing the smell.

i have looked into this one personbally, he can send a money order as long as he gets it from the us post office and mails it monthly to the student loan service center.

Hey Warlord! I see you've settled in Colorado, that's where i'm headed too. What was it like getting a license down there? I only have my G2 in Ontario right now, and i'm trying to decide if i should go get my G before I leave or not. I don't want to do it if it's just going to be a waste of my time and they will make me take a test anyhow...

YESSS!!!! Get your full G License!!!!!!!!!!! Spend the $75 or $94... whatever it is to get the full G. If you do't you run the risk of NOT getting a full license down here. States are moving towards the graduated license. Plus, if it is a "Full G" you won't have to take any test or anything. It will be just like moving from one state to another. When we inquired abput Duncan's license, the nice lady behind the counter wanted to make sure it was a FULL G, not the G1 or G2.

Just my 2 cents... I know I'm not in Colorado, but I do know that the more "complete" your documents are, the easier the transition will be.

Definitely get the G license here, because in most states the G is the only ontarian license that carries over, ive been lazy and still have my G1 and no way can i get a G by the time I make the move and am going to have to start again from the beginning, but it isnt nearly as long as a process in the US from what I have seen.

i have not seen any change in my case for about 6 months now. The lawyer take long time to file the paper work and then the bank mess up and take money out of my account by mistake and the check did not clear in the beginning of September. so i send money order and they got it but i think that now my case is sitting some where and no one is looking at it because of this mistake by the bank. is there anything that i can do about this or do i his have to wait. according to my time line i should of had the NOA2 a month ago.

timeline is just an estimate, dont count on it being approved by the date on the timeline because the timeline is only representative of fillers who have registered on VJ, not all fillers. from my experience it will come when you have lost hope.

I agree that is what happened to me when I got the touch before the RFE and the approval. I still have the letter I wrote, I can cross out my name and replace it with your name, elaborate about how all of us sept fillers want you to be approved, and then stick it in the envelope and walk to the post office and i bet by the time I walk back you will have the NOA2.

One thing I would say is depending on whether or not you have a good health plan, look into the vaccinations you will need. The one hepatitis shot requires one dose now and one after 6 months. Plus if you dont have a drug plan they can be $. I go to Brock University part time and dont have a drug plan and am under 26 and need the stupid guardassil shot and looking at about $1000 for all vaccinations/medical and have been balancing out the cost by getting a vaccine here and there so I will be up to date when my NOA2 finally comes and I get an interview.

I'm pretty sure you only need Hepatitis B if you are 18 or under - just so you know and don't spend money on it if you don't have to.

I checked on the checklist, girls 14-26 need guardasil, everyone needs hep A and B, i didnt get all the shots when i was younger, and i need menengitis, and pneumonococal one there is a big list of the vaccines on the "how do I bring my spouse..." guide, I cant find it atm but I printed it out back in november. I got a prescription for all the shots $160*3 for HPV, 60*2 for hep, i think 120 for the other hep and $30-90 for the others and the cost of the medical still puts it close to $1000 which sucks as a student.

So I just wrote a 4 page letter... and i heard a ping from my laptop... I recieved a new e-mail from USCIS

It changed on the site as soon as I got the email. Its so ironic, i had just put the finishing touches on my 4 page epic letter and was really upset, just like I was the day for the first touch.. and there it was. I was shaking so much i could barely call Charles. Now we can celebrate when i visit on the 20th. And I for sure will still be an active poster in the sept forum. if it wasnt for u guys id have more grey hair for sure. I totally blame my white hair at 24 on VSC. Also i got my second guardassil shot today.. ouch in the bank and the arm grrr

I havent contacted a congressman yet, from what I have seen I'm convinced its a waste of time. But I am seriously thinking of writting VSC a letter tonite. Im going to use my hello kitty stationary... trying to make it look extra desperate. And I am pretty sure they approve people who filled more recently because outlying data like the December fillers makes their average look better. I never thought that I would be close to joining the 6 month club.... Looks like there are only 3 active posters from September left. This really sucks. I hope my NOA2 comes after 3 weeks like your's Amber but Tanya's timeline makes me doubt that that is even possible. I have done everything to maintain my sanity and not think about the wait but after nearly 6 months I am almost at my wit's end. Our original plan was for me to move after my graduation ceremony in June. Taking a couple of classes at University helped me keep my mind off of everything, and now those classes are almost over, and it feels like the only thing I have to do is to wait for this to be over. On top of that my consulate, the one in Montreal is taking about 4 months to schedule an interview... And that really sucks. Everyone should have to wait about the same time, and these November fillers have been waiting for 2 less months then the remaining Sept. fillers. UGH IM SOO PISSED OFF!!! Well I think that is all I can rant about for now. I just really hope this week brings approvals for us so this thread can move to a NVC and interview status thread.
