  1. 50 minutes?! That's insane! They obviously need more people answering the phone, yeesh. But at least you have some idea what's going on. Hopefully you don't have to waste another hour of your time on Friday.

Your NOA1 and the Bio appointment letter have two different case numbers. I believe the number on your Bio letter is the one you can use to access your case status online. The other one won't work.

I traveled to Canada with my expired card and NOA in February with no issues. It was no different than my past visits with an unexpired card.

  2. You really don't need to list them all. Many people have had success just writing something like "multiple entries" They understand that many of us crossed frequently since childhood. Personally I just made a list of the times I crossed to visit my husband (then fiance) since that was relevant to our visa petition, but even that wasn't totally necessary.

I think the passport law didn't take effect until like 2007-08. And even after that in all the times I crossed I never received a single stamp, so its hard to remember exact dates.

  3. Im pretty sure that page has been on the Mtl Website for many years.

You're probably right. We just never had a reason to visit it because there was nothing remotely helpful to read.

  4. Weird. I'm an insurance agent and I've never asked someone if their windows are tinted. Here It doesn't matter, the insurance companies don't care! Most people have tinted windows because its always sunny, and I never see cars with only back tints. Seriously, I wouldn't even put another thought into it, I don't see you having an issue at all. Like I said, my husband drove in Ontario a million times with his tinted windows and drove past a lot of police cars!

  5. There is absolutely no room up there in the office area.

By the time I left from my early morning appointment it was so full people were standing and the room was literally PACKED with people.

That's weird, because when I was there I don't remember it being very busy. The waiting area was maybe 1/4 full? Its probably really busy some days and slower the next depending on the day of the week or something like that.

But in any event, aren't USC's automatically granted access to an American consulate? I remember reading a review on here a while back where the Canadian brought her fiances mother because he was deployed overseas and wanted the support. She was allowed in with her American passport I do believe. But if you were to bring your Canadian mother, they wouldn't let her in, because she is an "extra relative" I could be wrong. In any event, I don't think the guidelines on the website apply to fiances/spouses.

  6. Hubby's font windows are tinted. He drove his car up in Ontario a million times without issue. I think when local cops see you're from out of state/country they know rules differ. For example, here you need a license plate on the front and back of your car, but some other states only require a plate in the back. So if you're driving your car from Kansas let's say to Colorado you shouldn't have to worry about getting pulled over for a missing back plate. Just my two cents of course. I wouldn't worry, at all.

  7. Most of us didn't bother with affidavits. If you have a lot of evidence, they are completely unnecessary. But if you are set on sending them, whatever you want them to say is fine. There really isn't a set format, or criteria. They are just to affirm the validity of your relationship, so as long as they say something about your relationship together, that should work. There is also an example here on VJ under example forms in case you haven't seen it.

  8. Sounds like a good plan! You could also obtain a SSN in your maiden name prior to the wedding, and then change it after. But since you are getting married so soon after entry, I wouldn't bother.

I've been in the US for 3 years and my passport is still in my maiden name. Just make sure that if you ever fly Canada-US or vice versa, your ticket matches the name in your passport. Its also a good idea to carry a copy of our marriage license to show why there is a name discrepency. I always have it, but I've never been asked.

  9. Glad it went well! The Peace Bridge is my favorite to, we always cross there. I did the same thing, left a few boxes at my parents house. I'll need to be getting those one of these days.

  10. I've traveled back to Canada with my extension as well, no issues. Not even a trip to secondary. I found that waiting on ROC was a little annoying, but it doesn't disrupt life much, you can still travel, work etc. The way you always do. Not like waiting on the K-1 or AOS.

  11. I hear both but what get's e a long look is when I say 'soft drink' because that is what we always called it when we were growing up in Eastern Ontario. Makes sense because it is opposed to a 'hard drink' that contained alcohol- soft drinks are alcohol free :D .

That's funny! I went to McDonald's on Friday and the sever asked me if I wanted a soft drink with my meal. I paused for a second while trying to decide exactly what she meant...

  12. My parents told me about the sizes that's just crazy. I wonder if the did that to the hot chocolate too. I miss their peach juice, I'm not a coffee drinker at all.

They did it to all the hot drinks! And did you know they have a white hot chocolate now? Its pretty good. The peach was always one of my favorites too. When I worked there I drank way too much of it.

They opened a Tim Hortons/Cold Stone combo store in Niagara Falls. I was reeeeally excited when i went back home in February and saw it. Its an amazing combination!

  13. Oh HUGGLES congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I like this topic!!!!

I will see how much my life will change.. I am from Brazil living in Canada for two year and now going to States, hope I wont change too much ad yes, i do like shopping :) ..

Congrats for the baby, hugglebuggles :) ..

    Cheers,

    Thanks gals!! :D

I started saying "sodie pop" and it seems to work  Hubby says pop, all my coworkers say soda, so I'm not sure what the norm is. I had to abandon my Canadian spellings and "zed" because of work. People would think I was making spelling mistakes... I also got some very long pauses and confused looks from customers and coworkers when I would pull out a zed.

  14. I shop more, and I spend more money. There are bigger stores with more selection here, so its harder to be responsible. I've started to curb that habit a bit. But I'm still cheap, so its a funny mix. I don't eat as healthy as I used to, and I definately eat more fast food. Not a ton, but more; I hardly ever ate fast food up in Canada. I gained 15 pounds then lost 20, but now that Im pregnant its all coming back. I spend a lot more time outdoors now, but here in Colorado there are lots of reasons to be outdoors. I also drive a lot more. I hated driving back home, but now I love it, I'm not really sure why! My "eh" has gone away, but when i go home it all comes back!

I've changed a lot in more meaningful ways, but I think that's mainly due to being married and having a baby on the way, and less about living in the US.

  15. Congrats Jill, that's great! :D It must be an awesome feeling. I love the tatoo, I've been considering doing that for a few years now. So far, my fear of needles is winning!
