  1. back in august 2010, we dressed casually. it was hot and we had to walk around a lot. i know some people get super dressed up, but even the people working at the embassy aren't anything more than business casual.

The woman interviewing me was in a velour track suit. I will never forget that...

I went business casual, but that's how I felt most comfortable. Like the other said, it doesn't matter. Some people will show up in suits, others in... Velour track suits.

  2. I believe Huggles got hers a bit ago and it took roughly 6 months. She filed back in September i think? and got approved in March or April?

Yep. My NOA was dated 9/19 and I got the approval email on 3/2. So just a little before the 6 month mark. That's a pretty normal time frame for CSC these days. I bet you'll hear something g soon! Not time to worry just yet.

  3. It seems weird they would tell you 1 MMR is ok. I only had 1 at my medical and they sent me back to my Dr to get a second. They wouldn't finish my worksheet until I got it. I was only 21 at the time, but I dont see how that makes a difference?

  4. I saw a phone booth the other day, and it blew my mind  seems like its been forever since ive seen one!

How is the new place working outKimbear? I bet you're happy to be out on your own!

I took a little VJ break after AOS but I missed it! I wonder where some of my fellow k-1 and AOs fillers went. It seems like most of them never came back to talk about ROC.

  5. I don't have any official links for you, but I can share my experiences! I've crossed with a lot of food in the past... One time, I went on vacation and brought 4 boxes of food with me. It was just sitting in the backseat. It was mostly stuff like chips and snack food, and non-perishable items. The CBP looked at it, and didn't say a word.

Food isn't an issue as long as you don't bring something you aren't allowed to import. Fruits and vegetables for example. I think there is also an issue with meat.

 Im 25 and Am having My third right before my 26th birthday

Oh wow! That's ambitious! But good for you!

I am thinking 2 kids MAX. I'm not even committing to have another until this baby is here. But we'll see.

  7. I was really planning on it taking time. The doctor prepared me for 6 months to a year. Imagine my surprise when I got pregnant 2 months after stopping birth control! I ignored the signs at first, because I didn't think it would happen that fast. It was my husband who was constantly saying , "that's an early sign of pregnancy!"

My mom had me at 22 and I'll be 25, so I'm making my poor mom a grandma at 47. She's excited about it though! She says she'll be the young, hip grandparent. Every now and then someone will make a comment about me being "so young" but honestly, I don't feel young!

  8. I know what you mean Sapphire, there's a lot more to consider down here. I couldn't imagine making things work where you are, it would be difficult. Thankfully the cost of living down here is low enough that its a little easier to budget in the baby. We planned for quite a while before jumping in, and I'm glad we did, but there are still a lot of things I didn't even think of! Thankfully weve been offered a lot of help already. Its a huge commitment and terrifying, but exciting! You'll get there, and you'll be more prepared than a lot of parents!

8 month old triplets?! Wow, that's amazing, and a ton of work i'm sure!

  9. Relax, ROC is not hard. Just follow the guides and make sure you send in plenty of relationship evidence. After biometrics, there is nothing to do but wait. And absolutely do not file prior to the 90 day window.

  10. They go by the date of receipt. They received the petition before the deadline, so there should be no problems there.

You want to focus on "new" evidence, but you also want to show continual co-mingling. So for example, just because you may have presented evidence of joint accounts at your AOS interview, doesn't mean you shouldnt send anything now. You want to show you have maintained them. Just because you had a joint checking account in 2010 doesnt mean you have one now. The evidence should span the entire 2 years. A lot of people send more than they need to, but its always better to send a little more than not enough.

Pictures are nice, but secondary evidence. Not an absolute must.

  11. Funny story about that site! Bill (hubby) ordered a bunch of stuff off there for me as a Christmas surprise. Well they never processed his order or charged his credit card. A couple months after they sent me a big box of sour cherry blasters (my favorite!) for free with a sweet note apologizing for the order issues. Apparently its a small family business, and they had some deaths in the family around the holidays. I thought that was really nice.

    I miss plum sauce too!

  12. You can apply for a K-1 and have the wedding you want! That of course means something different for different people. Some do a courthouse wedding now, and a bigger celebration later, some decide against the big celebration all together and elope, some throw together a wedding fairly quickly, and others take their time before moving and plan.

We did the thing everyone will advise you against- planned a wedding while the visa was processing. I think there is no harm in this as long as you give yourself plenty of time to have the visa issued, and also make sure anything you book can be refunded, or make sure they will let you move the date if needed.

Cori- I like your attitude! I think your plan sounds just fine.

  13. What are you applying for, exactly? AOS? As a visitor? Or were you in the US on some kind of visa?

Canadians that enter by land are very rarely ever issued any kind of stamp or proof of entry. In the years I crossed by land, including the 4 years I was dating my husband long distance, I was never issued a passport stamp. This is the norm. Honestly, any lawyer that knows anything about imigration from Canada should know this. I think you might be better off without him.

You crossed from Canada. What benefit would it have been for you to hike through the Alberta wilderess to cross illegally? I'm kidding of course, I don't even know if this is possible? Where does one cross illegally? Where I'm from, the border is 100% protected.

I think trying to track down prof of a legal entry is a waste of time. I don't think you need it. I think USCIS has a basic understanding of how the borders work.

  14. It seems that number three is On the way :P

Gonna be a busy year, Removal of conditions is coming up in Aug and baby is due around xmas. YAY

Congrats!!! The new baby and Levi will be so close in age, that's great. But mom will have her hands full!

  15. DOS only knows so much. Like Valerie said when they see the visa has yet to be printed, they just say you are in processing. Based in past experience, it seems Montreal prints and mails visas in groups. So some are lucky to get it the next day, and others wait a week or more. Taking the weekend into consideration, you are still within the normal time frame. I bet you get it this week.

When is your appointment? Will they accept any other form of ID, like a Canadian birth certificate? I assume you meant to say your Canadian passport (not US passport) If not, there isn't much you can do but wait, unfortunately. Getting your passport back from Montreal now then sending it back to have the visa put in it would take way more time.

It sucks you didn't realize your son is a US citizen until the interview. I wish you would have asked us! (not that it helps much now)

Try to keep calm for the baby! That is priority #1. Hang in there girl, it will all work out!

  16. You interviewed in Montreal, correct? Then you would have given all your paperwork to the woman at the window prior to going into the interview room. The paperwork makes its way to the CO interviewing you, and they generally review the required paperwork before you step into the room. It there was an issue, they would have brought it up before approving you. What was wrong with the I-134? Its fairly cut and dry, either you meet the requirements or you do not. I wouldn't worry!

All the paperwork from filling the petition to the interview end up in your "do not open" envelope that you will take with you when entering the US on your visa.
