  1. hi guys...talking about chest xray at SLEC>..its not that i question their facilities (coz SLEC is one of the highest standard hospitals in the PI) but these are still machines capable of makin a - result to + result or v.versa..u know what i mean....what if u had undergone chest xray more than 6 months in ur province and its result is negative and never had history of pneumonia, tb or anything on the lungs....now time comes when u need to undergo another chest xray at SLEC during the medical and spotted something suspicious on the film..i mean, come on guys, sometimes machine makes mistake....question::are we, as K applicants, entitled to have another chest xray just to prove its consistency???there is even a story about this..its of different case though---cancer..she was diagnosed to have cancer and she was already like doing her last will and spending all her savings and time to make herself happy for the last time before she dies..to the extend of committing a suicide coz she cant accept she has cancer...and only to find out the machine was a total disaster....the culprit of the wrong result given to her...going back to the topic..my point is, will SLEC allow the applicant/s to undergo xray again after the first one at her own expense(PhP) just to give little consolation to the effort of the applicant to travel from her province to Manila??? if not, what could be their reason?? chest xray doesnt cost a lot...thanks....hope ur not upset why i wrote this long just to ask for one question....

always open for ur informative replies...

st lukes will let you do the sputum tests once they see something on your xray. no they will not allow you to repeat the xray nor will they accept results from other hospitals. their reason? this is always their standard reply : " it is the US embassy's policy".

  2. which reminds me of my friend's situation. NVC sent her the date of her interview but she never got it, apparently it must have gotten lost in the mail, so she failed to show up for her interview. after some time, she got a letter from the us embassy stating that her petition has been cancelled. she immediately contacted the embassy and informed them of the problem, it took about 2 yrs for them to schedule her for another interview.

  3. I think we had a good reason why i did not show up during my appointments but it does not mean that i wasn't serious about my marriage or in our relationship. When I had my first appointment my husband was here in Philippines and he resigned at his job and believe that he will stay here for good but he wasn't in good shape after 10 months to stay so he decided to go back in U.S.A (we lived together for 13 months) as the main reason why we had to cancel the 2 appointments but I hope there will be another chances for us. We The medical exam was already paid in BPI, i know it was a waste and it hurt me a lot but we are having a problem about money so that ware almost 9 months apart from each other since he left , i hope the embassy will understand. But right now I am studying and i have almost 8 months to go before my graduation day. My husband want me to go and visit him during my semestral break this coming october, so we are planning about visitor/tourist visa would it be possible? I will only stay atleast 2 weeks and back in phils to finish my school and if so does anyone could give me all the details if what are the requirements or documents needed???please help

i thought the medical exams are to be paid only at st lukes? i didnt know it could be paid at BPI.

getting a tourist visa is next to impossible if youre married to an american, the consul will just tell you " youre better off with an immigrant visa"

try calling the us embassy and check about the status of your case. you may have to start all over again.

  4. Hi to all VJ members,

As you can see, Im just new here and Im so glad I found this site as I am having worries about my culture result at St. Lukes which will be on the 2nd week of September. Before I had my medical, I was so confident that I will have no problem at all and would pass since I know I never had TB in my entire life. But I was wrong! St. Lukes did xray me twice same day during my medical, back and front (there's a terminology for the front but I forgot) for the reason that they have found something suspicious and abnormality in my xray. They found fibrosis on it according to the doctors therefore I had to underwent the three days SPUTUM test. I felt so devastated and could not help myself but cried! However, we felt so relieved when the sputum test came out NEGATIVE. Right now, we're just waiting for my CULTURE result and hoping and praying that with God's will it would be NEGATIVE as well.

Although, I've got a questions regarding this matter. I was wondering if it's normal or required for all patients to have a second xray before they have to undergo the sputum test? The doctor says it is 50/50 for the culture result. In other words, 50% would pass and 50% fails. Is it true? And how would you know if your culture test result is positive or negative? Either way, would they give you a hint when you call them?

Last question, my friend is in the same situation as mine. Only the different is, she had a spot and even took the medication for TB more than 3 years ago. But she passed the sputum test as well (negative) and just now waiting for her culture test result. Though the sputum was negative, she is still concern that she might failed the last one. My question is, how many percent that she would pass the culture test?

Any response and insight would be highly appreciated!

    Thank you very much

if they see an abnormality in your xray, st lukes will let you undergo a 3 -day sputum test and then you need to wait 2 months for the culture results. you will be given a piece of paper with the due date of your culture and you need to call them on the given date, if the result is negative, they will tell you to go back to slec for the shots. however if you get a call from the nurse before the due date, then most likely , you came out positive and will need to undergo 6 months of medications. they will only tell you to report for evaluation and will not give details over the fon. since your friend had undergone medications 3 yrs ago, theres a big possibility she will pass the culture test after 2 months. my advice is: dont worry too much, just take it one day at a time. keep praying and trust that everything will be done in Gods perfect time.

  5. Is St Lukes that high-tech that they can actually see what other clinics can't portray on their medical results?

    e.g.

-In St. Lukes, they found a cloudy part, but when you ask a second opinion there isn't any cloudy part?

I had my chest Xray at United Doctors Medical Center (UDMC)...

yes thats true, slec equipment is very high tech. i know a woman whose xray showed a very small scar at slec but when she went to have another xray done at a hospital in cebu, nothing was seen. and slec docs will never honor a 2nd opinion, nor other hospitals for that matter.

  6. what day did st lukes tell you to call for the culture results?

sasha414, the clinic told her to call on 7/28. She called a few times last week, but no results ready.

Then finally they called her on July 24th, 8 weeks and 1 day after the negative smear result in May.

No results communicated, just come and see the doctor for the results.

We are so on edge right now!

if st lukes calls before the due date, its usually bad news. but hey, cheer up, 6 months will fly by fast, trust me, been there, done that. before you know it, she will be preparing for her interview.

  7. they'd check you private parts, give you pregnancy test, blood test for HIV and STD, EENT check up, blood pressure, they'll get your body measure, give you vaccines, & xray.

Thanks for the info but i never heard they'll get your body measure? for what?:unsure:

This forum is getting interesting each days.....we would like to know what BODY parts do they measure exactly??:blush:
