  1. i'm really confuse NOW!!grrr... and dont know what to do next after calling the USCIS telling them about my problem with regards to my SSN that SS couldn't issue me my card unless my status is being updated in CSC with my married name(when the SS check in the data base, or whatever was that, grrr..hahahha!).The guy from USCIS told me to use INFOPASS thing or send a letter to the CSC stating that im already married and need to change my status into my married name so the SS could issue me my SS card, blah, blah, blah!!

Any idea from there that you could share it to me, plzzzz....Salamat!!

  2. If it would also help, I requested the SSA office if they can provide a certification for me stating my SS# and my name in it for employment purposes while they wait for Immigration to update my records then... and they obliged right away... That certification is what I presented my employer when I got hired and just told my employer that I'm just waiting for SSA office to mail me the actual card with my updated married name. Just recently, i've been working for more than a month now and my employer's HR just followed up with me if i received the new card and so i faxed in a copy to my employer's HR as promised. One thing is for sure, that didn't keep me from getting hired nor start to look for a job.

hello... maybe my experience can help for clarification....

I got my SS# a week after I arrived to US and it was in my maiden name yet, as we were not married during that time. ANd then applied for a change of name afterwards. It will be the same SS# you will have when you apply even if you had a change of name. If you already have your EAD card, then is the time that they can issue you the new SS card with same SS# but only different name. In my case, when i went to the SS office, immigration still hasn't updated my records to my married name, but since I have the EAD (work permit in hand that has my updated married name in it, they have accepted it and sent me my new SS card with same SS# that I obtained with my maiden name in it.

Irregardless, when I got hired for a job, which i'm thankful for since only 3 days after I got my EAD, I got an interview and got hired after a week, I told my employer that the SS card that I have still shows my maiden name as the SS office still has to send me the updated card and it usually takes them 30 days (but in my case it took only two weeks).

As long as you have valid work permit, you should be good to go... You only need the SS#, regardless if the name on the SS card shows up as your maiden name or the married name.

    hey guys

dont worried it will come..i had the same problem that my account was not verified so they send a mail to INS...after 3 weeks nothing happend..then i went again and they printed it out and sent it manuell again...3 weeks later i got a letter that i can expect my ssn in 2 weeks..so i went to the office and got a print out and have my ssn now after 50!!!! days

so go there and ask them to print it out and sent it manuell..that will speed it up

    good luck

Hi there!! thanks for the reply and new information to not an obstacle to look/find job without ssn. I feel relieved a bit now. Those 2 ladies who assisted me were both "nakakainis" they both told me the same reason on why they couldn't issue me my ssn blaming the immigration of not updating my case yet to my married name to prove that i am the same person,grrrrrr....

    Salamat!!

  3. If you have proper documentation that permits you to work in the USA (EAD), it is illegal for an employer to not hire you on the grounds that you have no SSN. You can still work without a SSN as long as you have applied for a SSN (the SSN office should have given you a receipt proving that you applied). I worked here last summer on a J-1 and I had to fight my employer to hire me because of this. Google: working without a SSN and/or chekc out these sites:

    http://www.socialsecurity.gov/employer/hiring.htm

    http://www.socialsecurity.gov/pubs/10107.html#work

    Good luck job hunting!

Hey! thank you for the immediate reply..im looking for the link now..thank you!!

  4. why not reapply for a card again...thats what i did..but you have to get to the right person who s willing to really assist you. we were back to ssa office for 3 times..the first 2 keeps on saying i cannot...so many reasons because i have to wait for the update of my status , the other said i need to have my gc..but the 3rd time my husband call them first and that person told my husband to come back tomorrow and i will attend to you..

Lo, and behold we were out there n 10mins and within a week got my ssn under my married name...

just b patient and just try to look for the right person.

    God bless to you!

  5. Try Aveeno products, they are really good. I am now using the Aveeno Skin Brightening Daily Scrub for my face and daily moisturizers. . so far I don't have the problems I used to have the first few months when I arrived here. I tried Pro-Active too, it was good for the first few months but I noticed that my pimples worsened after awhile.

    Goodluck

Hi there! i've read your timeline, you go back to school again and done your CPR certification, if you dont mind what do you study? are you on medical field? thanks!!

I was Oh My God :o :o :o Yes I was sooooo happy that we're done on the first step and moving forward to the next...more waiting comings but at least I am a step closer to my husband now weeeeeeeeeeee.

Gosh I wanted to kiss my husband so bad when I read this message. I'm so happy we did it right...I remember we had some arguments while gathering the papers co'z my husband had no idea what to do so I was the one dictating him step by step...take note, he's not patient enough to deal with papers....and I am not patient enough to be a coach hahahahah I know more papers coming...so goodluck to us  Honestly, I don't know what to do next...I have no single idea. I'll be doing a lot of research on this site today...hope I'll get some info. Btw, we're going to proceed to CR1 since I heard it is better than K3...right? What do you think guys?

This is the best Christmas gift for us!!! Happy Holidays...We hope that everyone will get a good news from USCIS too.

    Lots of thanks to VJ/ers,

    Edward & Marycris

    CONGRATS!!! best of luck!!

  7. We are both on the same situation. It frustrates me so much so I did not go back to SSA since then and now it got me worried because I am scheduled for my interview on January 21, 2009 and I still dont have my SS number. My husband could not add me to his bank account, insurances and could not get a drivers license and the State Id too because they always ask for SS#. I am worried as to what else would I show as a proof of our legal marriage because I dont have those documents.

Anybody there who has ideas? Thanks and I would appreciate any help from you. To Sally, I hope you can get it soon.

    Hi,

It makes me wonder what could probably the reason why it hasn't been updated yet in there system.I received my EAD card with my married name on it..it was unbelievable!! You can use your passport so your husband can add you to his checking acct..Good luck to both of us...

    god bless!!

    Sally

  8. sorry to hear that! I dunno.. I think all we could do in this strange place is to wait. Haven't had same problem with you though. I got my SSN 7 days after I filed and it's directly to my married name.

Maybe you should keep on calling first before going to save gas?

    Vida Taylor

    hello,

Thank you for your reply..i appreciate it! Thats what i've been doing to lengthen my patience and it will come on the right time. Could it be because my case was transferred to CSC and they updated it last in october 8, 2008?grrrrr...i dunno either am so pissed!!hehehe...thanks again!!

    Sally

  9. I'm sorry you didn't get your card. :( Do you already have an EAD? That should be enough for an employer to hire you if you explain the situation with the SSA. If you have not received an EAD, you can not work with just your social security card. When a K1 holder receives their social security card it is printed with "only valid for work with additional USCIS documentation" or something like that. My husband came here on a K-1 and has his social security card already.

    Hi there!!

thank you so much for the insight..Yeah i already got my EAD last nov.14 and went to SS office on the 16, and until now immigration didn't change my surname to married name..In my got my married name.

You are right probably i could apply for a job, but the one am applying for it needs the last 4 digits of SSN and couldn't filled it up. My case was been transferred also to CSC last september 18, and when i checked it online, was last updated oct.8,2008..so right now i dunno whats next to do..i might call probably..

    Thanks again...Merry X'mas!!

  10. Hi all VJ members,

here I am again, asking for all your hand on K1 matters..

My husband and I are working now on my AOS, and yesterday we did get a copy of my vaccination record, DOSE 1 AND 2!..

I am confused.. Do we still need to get a civil surgeon even if we have a copy of my vaccination record or we will not?

pls :help: me on this matter..

thank you and hope to hear you soon?!

ps.. i did finally talked to him that if he won't file i will go home to the phils..

I would treat waht he is doing now as a christmas present for me even it shouldn't be that way! :crying:

    huh!..

    ---rajemr2119

    Hi there!!

Yeah you need to see a civil surgeon to transcribe your immunization record, bring also your new record and your old from st. lukes. Before you go to your civil surgeon, print the vaccination record form in the uscis website, and fill it up your signature thats needed..they need it so you're not goin back anymore or better to have it your copy yourself. I hope this will help you may kababayan:)

Good luck to you!! got my own problem too..hayyy..

  11. Hello everybody!!

I did what others want me to do today about going back to the SS OFFICE for follow-up of my application since it has been 1 month and 3 days of waiting. Im saddened by the fact that until NOW the immigration haven't updated my case yet and replace my surname to my married surname.. cos thats the only reason why the SSA couldn't do nothing with regards to my application...SIGH****i couldn't apply for JOB..im aware though that there are many people right now who are losing there job, feel bad about that..

Is there anyone out there who had been on the same case like mine? what did you do?

Best of luck to all of us!!

  20. hi everyone!

i have few questions here,,i hope you can help me answer them..thank you so much!

1.)i read that at the time of interview the beneficiary will bring DS156,DS156K,DS230---now here is my question

my fiance have tried to applied twice for a B1/B2 visa but he was refused, would it affect our petition in any case?

    Question # 31 of DS 156

    31. Have You Ever Been Refused a U.S. Visa?

    WHEN?

    (Most Recent) day month year

    WHERE?

    WHAT TYPE OF VISA?

2.)Will i still send bank certification together with the I-134?or just the I-134 will do? is this necessary?

thanks to you all..happy thanksgiving! godbless us all!

Hello gurl! You dont have anything to worry about if you have been refused of visa before. Tell or answer the questions truthfully and during your interview, just tell the truth cos its in the record. Everything should be truth..goodluck!! happy thanksgiving!!
