    Having worked in a very similar situation, I can assure you that some of the support on site is staff shared between agencies, so they will all enjoy the cuts. I would not be surprised that they will also reduce the numbers of posts where visa are issued. It is great to see people getting what they voted for.

    You could also add your spouse as a beneficiary to your financial accounts (bank accounts, retirement, investment, life insurance, etc.), that is usually easy enough to do online and you can screenshot the updated beneficiary.     Others have had their partners visit in a third country closer to the US, this might be another way for you to see each other/easier itinerary for you (from memory, @devusr lived in the Caribbean for a little while). 8-hour layover in JFK sounds nightmarish, please let us know if we can help you find a smoother path to destination.

    The thing is that entry is always at their discretion... so they get to decide what is "abuse". I am not judging your reasoning, just saying that what you think does not matter, really.

    Others will have better answer than I do to your questions. However, you might want to would look at the benefits of your husband applying for citizenship earlier (when eligible) rather than later.

    I do not want to stress @lacuuna, just make everyone aware to expect more controls than usual. I strongly recommend anyone with a Real ID DL to show that and only show extra documents if asked.     The airlines are usually not going to ask . However, three times in the last month Border Patrol was checking documents at my gate before boarding. I have seen it in the past, but I don't remember it happening more than twice a year. They have, and they do, control immigration status. Same goes for some roadside check points.

    Cost saving measure. Used to be available in most U.S. diplomatic missions in the world. Now down to one per country, in general.

    All countries can deny entry to visitors. You shouldn't travel at all if that's too big of a risk for you. Why do you think being denied entry would be that bad? I can see it's no fun, but it has zero impact on the immigrant visa process (unless there was misrepresentation/illegal activities).

    You submitted all those statements with your affidavit of support, or your spouse brought them only at the interview? If only at the interview, then I understand better the reason behind the 221g. Best of luck.

    How and when did you file your affidavit of support? How did you document your assets?

    You might want to reach out to them and ask for advice on how to proceed. Reach out to Citizens services, not the visa section.

    Are you sure you meet all the requirements? If so, the consulate should not have issued a visa to an American citizen.

    I entered the US on a CR1 and I had the exact same experience as @OldUser. They only checked my extension letter the first time I entered (after the expiration date of my card), and I guess updated it to the extension date. No question on later entries.
