When I had my K1 visa interview I took a signed statement of intent to marry each from me and my fiancee at the time (now my wife) to re validate and extend the petition.

As my interview was just over a month after petition expired and I didn't want to assume that it would be automatically extended (I was also advised that embassies don't always automatically extend petitions and to take the signed statements of intent to marry from us both as well). The officer re validated and extended the petition at the interview after I gave her these.

Just wanted to add this but OP were there any other issues that were of concern to the Consular Officer? It sounds like there was more to this than just the NOA2 validity date.

No she was definitely a very experienced officer at least and maybe even a supervisor... She said she was approving our case that afternoon. And she did. She told us that there is a lag of 24 hours between what they do in their system and what we see in the portal. So we got our official approval yesterday at 12:30pm which would put her approving it about 40 minutes after we left her office.

This is what I was told by the ISO for my AOS interview as well in terms of the 24 hours between what they do on their system and receiving the notification on the portal. 40 minutes is quick though - mine was about an hour and a half

We got verbal approval today at the interview!! 🎉🎉 I know it’s not official but it feels good. The officer was kind, professional and very pleasant. She just asked how we met, when we got married, who attended, what we do for fun, what our favorite restaurant is. Then the standard yes/no questions from the I-485. She gave us that same paper as @JL07 and said it was our proof we attended the interview. She then said that this afternoon, she was going to scan in the docs we gave her and then approve us

    Congratulations mate!

  5. I was always advised to wait about 2 weeks after arriving before going to the SSA to apply for a SSN so it allows time for all the relevant systems to sync and update, etc. My appointment was just over 2 weeks after arriving in the USA.

    **UPDATE**

My fiancé went to the embassy today and they were super nice and helpful. He wasn’t sure if they’d let him in since he rescheduled his appointment for the next available (August 20th 😅). Since he had printed off his prior appointment confirmation, they let him in.

They did his document review while he was there and told him that they’d email him sooner dates and times for the interview since his new appointment was so far out.

Super stressful, but so grateful that the people at the London embassy are so helpful.

Thank you for the update. Glad they were able to help your fiance with this

  7. This isn't something I'm familiar with as when I did the process and had my interview last August the documents were checked on the same day but looking online it seems that you need a new interview appointment scheduled if you didn't attend the document review.

You could contact the embassy but looking at your timeline it looks like the interview is today so he wouldn't get a response in time.

I am interested to know what the result of this situation was though. Keep us posted.

Does anyone have any experience of traveling domestically while your GC was approved but you do not have it yet?

Personally I wouldn't travel until I had the green card physically in hand. When we went to Wyoming last month I used the EAD to travel (as it's a form of Real ID) but that was the week before the week of my AOS interview and the approval. I received the green card around 12 days after my interview.

Hi everyone, I’m happy to share that my wife successfully passed her interview today!

We prepared all the documents mentioned in the interview letter, but the immigration officer only requested my divorce decree and my daughter’s birth certificate.

The interview was more of a conversation than question and answer like many YouTubers describe.

I hope everyone who is still waiting receives a response soon. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about our experience.

Just curious here but did you get the USCIS notification to say she was approved or is this based on them verbally saying she was approved?
