Packet 3 - Frankfurt consulate in Germany
MalloryCat replied to Rosaly's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
that is the correct email the frankfurt embassy has a google form they use that tells you what to put in the subject line of the email, so it gets to the right place https://tinyurl.com/FrankfurtVisas (if you use this form, make sure you pick the option for immigrant visa. it does make a difference for what goes in the subject line and body of the email) when my fiance emailed them about getting the information from the packet 3 letter just emailed to him, they told him to wait until he received the physical letter. But if you explain to them you believe it got lost in the mail, they might email it to you. the DS-160 is good for a year after filling it out and submitting it. so you could technically fill it out and submit it now. but I would try emailing them for the packet 3 info first before emailing them the DS-160 confirmation. As my fiance likes to say, people in Germany like their paperwork, so they probably want things to go in order 🤣 -
Passport Stamps for "proof"
MalloryCat replied to Nywoek's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
you can get copies of your I-94s from the CBP website https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home those would replace the passport stamps when it comes to evidence you've been to the US legally -

you could try contacting the frankfurt embassy via email and explain the situation they may be able to email you what the packet contained (which if i remember correctly was just a letter saying to complete/submit the ds-160, pay the visa fee, a previous address form to fill out, and a copy of the approved I-129f. it also had some instructions as far as what to bring to the interview.) or they may ask you to wait another day or so to see if it will show up. or you could try contacting whichever postal service was delivering it and see if it is something you can go pick up from one of their locations. -
K1 Visa Medical - Doctor Note
MalloryCat replied to aikowo's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
you would more than likely need a letter from a therapist or psychologist. Maybe those GPs had more experience in mental health where they felt they could write those letters -
1. I would say still bring it. Even if its not on the list its better to be over prepared then under prepared. It doesn't hurt to have it even if they dont ask for it. 2. Definitely only offer it if it is asked for. No reason to offer it if they dont ask for it. 3. the letter from the employer for the affidavit is only one of the recommended pieces of evidence. you can usually get by with just 3 years worth of tax returns, W2s, and/or a letter from the bank showing what is currently available in your account(s). But the letter is something you'd normally get from HR. But since you've already been informed of being laid off, they might not give you one.

USCIS processing times for I-129fs has sped up significantly. Last I heard they were working on cases submitted december 2023 and january 2024. your case still has to go to the NVC, where it can sometimes sit for a month or 2. And then onto whichever embassy/consulate the beneficiary would go to. And that could add time to the process depending on the consulate. some consulates the wait time for a K-1 visa interview can be long. depending on how many they get.

I-129F Proof of Evidence Nicknames
MalloryCat replied to Julsia's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
I couldn't find anything on if the petition gets scanned into the system or not if it does just get rejected for the lack of filing fee, they should just send your application back to you with the reasoning of why it was rejected -
I-129F Proof of Evidence Nicknames
MalloryCat replied to Julsia's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
you can attempt to withdraw the petition by contacting USCIS. but pretty sure it would make filing it again in the future more difficult. -
USCIS tends to jump around a lot when going through their backlog. So they might not do the entirety of petitions filed in november at the same time. for my fiance and I, we did a lot of talking about future plans and such while we were waiting. Not sure if it helped but it definitely made the time go by lol we also had him come visit while waiting to hear anything, that helped quite a bit.

i do believe it depends on the consulate/embassy that the NVC is sending it to. Ours was received by the NVC on march 12 2024, was assigned a case number on march 25 2024, and was received by the consulate in Germany on april 11 2024. I emailed the NVC after about a month (i emailed them on april 9th) of it sitting with them to ask if there was a case number yet or if it had been sent. They were able to email me our case number and from there we were able to track it through CEAC my fiance ended up receiving the letter from the NVC with our case number long after it had already been sent to the consulate. from what I read on the the NOA2 I received was to wait 30 days/4 weeks before reaching out to the NVC for an update. Since it looks like its been about 3 weeks for you, I would say wait maybe a week longer and reach out to them.

6 Month Timeline
MalloryCat replied to MalloryCat's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Hey! Personally I think the best thing to do would be for him to schedule his medical as close to his interview date as possible. We did 2 weeks out to give the doctors office enough time to get the results to the embassy. That was the recommended turn around time for the consulate in Frankfurt Germany where my fiance will have his interview I'm not sure if the timelines would be similar for London. But once you make it though to the point where he schedules his interview, it gets pretty easy to plan stuff since you have a definite date. Unless of course there's an issue during his interview which requires a second interview, which can happen but if you have everything in order and he can answer the questions they ask easily, you shouldn't have a problem. You can't attend the medical exam without proof of a scheduled visa interview anyway. So if he is able to do the medical exam pretty close to his interview, he shouldn't have a problem with tying up loose ends well before the 6 months passes. Hope that all made sense and it helps! 😊 -
Visa Interview letter?
MalloryCat replied to USAtoday's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
yes, it is your interview appointment confirmation. they need proof that you have/already had an interview. -
6 Month Timeline
MalloryCat replied to MalloryCat's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
My fiance's medical is scheduled for 2 weeks before his interview. And if everything goes well will be arriving in the US sometime in September. So hopefully we wont have any issues with POE. -
Hello everyone, I've been searching around for an answer to this question, but couldn't find anything concrete. My fiance finally got his interview scheduled for July! Here is my question: When our I-129f petition got approved by USCIS, we read in many places that is when the 6 month timeline for when he had to move to the US started. Meaning since it was approved in March, he would HAVE to move to the US by September. In other places, we read that the 6 month timeline doesn't start until AFTER the actual K-1 Visa is approved at the interview. And since his interview is in July, that would mean he has until January to move to the US. He plans on asking the officer at the consulate in Frankfurt at his interview, but I thought I'd ask here as well. cause I my anxiety and impatience will not let me wait 😂 So does the 6 month timeline start after the petition is approved or after the K-1 Visa is approved? Thank you!

Questions on DS-160 (K1)
MalloryCat replied to Rosaly's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Hey! My Fiance is going through the Frankfurt consulate as well. 1. He filled out the DS-160 but waited to submit it until he got the letter from the consulate with instructions. Once you start filling out the DS-160, it stays saved for 30 days. So as long as you keep the application ID it gives you at the beginning, you can log back in a finish it when the time comes. Our case was changed to ready status on April 11th, and he got his instructions letter on April 25th. It can take anywhere from 10 days - 2 months to get this letter from them. We read some places that they got the letter after 7 days. 2. Once you get the letter from the consulate, it tells you to email the confirmation to them. But also to bring it with you to the interview. Emailing it to them just informs them that you're ready to schedule the interview. It's best to just bring the confirmation with you anyway. Better to be over prepared than under prepared. 3. In the instructions letter that my Fiance got, it told him to bring all of the documents to his interview and NOT to mail them in. I doubt this is one of those "case by case" things where some people mail it in and some don't. So you should have time still to finish collect documents since you will be bringing them to the interview. 4. I assume you'll be scheduling your medical with the doctors in Frankfurt? If so the soonest appointments they had (last time we checked) was late June. While the soonest interview appointments at the consulate were as early as May 8th. In the instructions you get AFTER emailing the DS-160 to the consulate, it does say you can do the medical after the interview. We personally scheduled it so the medical is first. I have read from multiple different people (when talking about the Frankfurt consulate) that it can take longer by doing the medical second, and they have had issues with the doctors getting the information to the consulate quickly or without issue. You can schedule the medical exam without having proof of an interview scheduled. but you DO have to bring a print out of the interview appointment confirmation to the medical exam. So either way, you do have either have the interview scheduled or have already done the interview to do the medical exam. -
Did you ever figure this out? Currently having the same issue and can't find information on what do to anywhere...
