  1. It's not luck, there's always a specific reason for it. How long had your wife lived in London? Perhaps the other couple had lived there a much longer time so less non-UK background to check.
  2. Not fun but AP was pretty much inevitable with a Pakistani applicant that's transferred to another consulate unfortunately. I really hope you hear soon, I'm sure you will.
  3. You're usually put in to the school that serves your address and won't get a choice. But I wouldn't pay any attention to online ratings anyway, they're not terribly reliable. And if it's just elementary school, as long as your children are safe, happy and learning life skills, they'll be all good.
  4. That's a good sign - means they're looking at it and if there have been several unsolicited updates I'd expect a request to redo the medical soon. Good luck.
  5. Is the father actually planning on moving to the US? What is the mother's status in the US?
  6. Which visa category?
  7. As above, if he entered without inspection he's not eligible to adjust status. Consular processing was their only option.
  8. Adjustment of status isn't an option for him if he entered without inspection, so it will be a different process than your husband's. So the DS-260 is correct (DS-160 is for tourist visas, DS-260 is for immigrant visas), I-485/I-765 aren't relevant for him. Sounds like he will need a waiver though but that will be determined at interview.
  9. Mine wasn't for K1, it was for an EB immigrant visa. But it was just in my handbag, and went through Heathrow security in that. It'll be easy to see on the scanner that it's just documents so I can't see why there would be any issue at all. I also took another folder of documents in case they were requested at immigration on the US side, again they were just in my handbag and weren't a problem.
  10. That's super speedy! My daughter applied for a replacement card in May, her online account still says 22 months remaining. 😂
  11. Yep. Then when the time comes and a visa is available to your brother he'll be able to include any derivatives that are eligible for visas too.
  12. OK, both will probably age out but all you can do is wait and see. You just add them in section 4.
  13. This thread is for those that filed in March 2023, if you search you'll probably find a similar thread for your Priority Date. Good luck.
  14. His spouse will be a derivative on his application. Children should be added as derivatives too, but are likely to age out. You say they're under 21, but how old are they? And which country are they from?
  15. Definitely sign up for Informed Delivery! It's free and invaluable for peace of mind when tracking important docs, and you'll have lots more reason to use it with your AOS application etc.
  16. Have you got Informed Delivery so you can see when it's on the way?
  17. That's what the WOM is about. But after only 6 months they're unlikely to have completed all of the background checks needed to make a decision on your case, especially if you're self petitioning and from a high risk country. Basically, you can't compel them to do their job if they don't have all of the information needed to do that job, which is why cases are dismissed if they're filed too early.
  18. There's a guide on this forum (top of the page) which is great. Personally, for my immigrant visa, I found the official step by step guide really clear and useful too - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-1-submit-a-petition.html Good luck.
  19. From the court. And it can still take a year or two, but the visa be granted. Again, it's not the decision that takes this long, it's the background checks that have to be completed to get to the point where they can actually make a decision. They just need time to go through the process.
  20. You still need proof of being together in person, which it doesn't sound as though you have yet. An exemption isn't likely to be relevant but I wondered if you were trying for that. I would wait until you've met again and have photos/proof, then file. Good luck.
  21. That's your family, not you. What did you for question 53 on your I-129f? Did you say no and request an exemption?
  22. If it's IB1 then are you adjusting? That's a more complex route so I'm not surprised it's taking longer. As Boiler said, you can file anytime you want. It is just likely to be a waste of money if you file too early and get it dismissed.
  23. What proof do you have that you were together though? Passport stamps only prove that you were in the same country, not that you were meeting in person.
  24. There is no 'normal' time for AP, it often takes much longer than 6 months. It's not just them making a decision in that time, it's them gathering background information and that often relies on third parties i.e. if they're doing background checks in other countries, those other countries can take months to respond. Do you mean IR1 or EB1?
