El pasado 29 de abril mi visa no fue aprobada, me senti tan, pero tan mal, que ni se lo imaginan. Me dijeron que necesitaban aun mas pruebas de mi relación con Chris, y que ademas querian qu eel viniera a la próxima entrevista.

En el dia de ayer llame a la embajada para solicitar otra entrevista, y estoy super feliz porque mela dieron para este mismo mes, mi próxima entrevista es el 20 de mayo, 2 dias antes de mi cumpleaños, además mi amorcito viene a visitarme.

Bueno los tendré informados de lo que pase.

Espero en dios lo mejor para nuestras vidas.

Algo similar nos paso a mi esposo y a mi en su entrevista,yo tuve q viajar para q estar presente los dos cuando fueramos entrevistados por el consul en forma separada,si te puedo aconsejar q vayan preparados para cualquiero tipo de preguntas q les vayan a hacer,asegurate de llevar toda la evidencia posible que tengan que compruebe su relacion, ya veras q si se preparan bien con las preguntas,todo va a estar bien y tu visa sera aprobada como lo fue la de mi esposo....

he lives in Santa Ana...which is about 1 hour away from San Salvador....so he will be leaving around 5:30 or 6 AM to make it on time to the interview!

One of my friends from High School lives in Santa Ana too We just loved going to visit her, she took us to Costa del Sol and La Libertad! I love the beaches in El Salvador, they are sooo pretty!

My husbands aunt lives in Guatemala...i can't recall the exact name of the city..buts its around the capital. I love the beaches they are awsome...my hubby and i went to DeCameron for our hooney moon....wow the resort is beautiful!!!

Here is El salvador they make you go to two interview...is Guatemala the same way?? IN the first they review your documents and the second you get interviewed by the people at the Embassy.

Vea yo desde un principio le dije a mi esposo que como no sabía inglés que tenía que empezar desde abajo hasta que pudiera conseguir algo bueno. Él es ingeniero de sistemas y tiene 2 títulos en computer science, pero muy humilde y todo lindo me dijo "Pa' las que sea". Ya cuando acordamos con eso mija, aplicamos en toda parte. En Target, en Wal-Mart, en Sears, en Costco, en Kohl's, en Toys R US y en Babies R Us. A él lo llamaron de Target, Sears, Toys R Us y Babies R Us y yo fuí con él a todas las entrevistas y de una me presentaba "Hi, how are you? I'm Fredy's wife and I'm here to translate" y les decía que era un hombre muy bueno, muy trabajador y etc. etc., ud. ya sabe. Entonces el que nos interesaba era Babies R Us porque queda a un ladito de la casa y le dije al señor "Look, he's very interested in working and he wants to learn everything there is to learn including English, you just gotta give him a chance". Y el señor me dijo que de una, que con tal que fuera trabajador, de una.

Empezó en enero y sin inglés mija, todo a punta de señas y ya los entiende mejor. Y hasta el mes pasado fué el empleado del mes porque siempre llega a tiempo y nunca falta. Claro que por las tardes estudia 2 horas de inglés en la escuela y él sabe que sino aprende bien, nunca podrá tener el trabajo que tenía de oficina.

Bueno esa es nuestra historia...

Confieso q ayer andaba yo medio de mal humor porq un integrante de VJ, de nuestra hermosa tierra, andaba por ahi diciendo pendejadas - haciendo juicios de valor sobre otras personas; y eso si me encanija. No dire nombres y no, no es ninguno de los regulares en Fuera de Lugar: pero si es un alguien al cual evito lo mas posible.

que les cuento?? pues mi esposo sigue en la busqueda de un empleo,una tarea ardua y fatigosa en estos dias pero bueno estamos confiados en Dios y que El va a proveer pronto lo que necesitamos para estabilizarnos,la verdad yo no me desespero pero El si ya esta empezando a inquietarse un poco pero bueno ahi estamos poniendo nuestro mejor esfuerzo...

Ya se de quien habla la LEN y si tienes razon,yo soy de la opinion que si no tengo nada bueno q decir o carezco del conociento exacto sobre ciertos temas,mejor es quedarse callado y no hacer el ridiculo pero bueno hay de todo en la viña del Señor...

Abby, El primer ano mi marido tenia varios trabajos. Decidimos vivir con solo mi sueldo para darle chance de encontrar algo que le gustaba...y para poder seguir estudiando. Despues del primer trabajo, le pegaron las ganas de regresar a la escuela a fuerzas. Se dedicaba la mayoria de su energia a estudiar ingles... ahora sigue estudiando la gramatica pero le gusta su trabajo de medio tiempo. El primer ano es dificil... pero poco a poco se mejora la vida juntos.

No se pq sigo con la idea de que la gente de VJ van a tener corazones abiertas pq han sufrido tambien... tantas mentes cerradas. De hecho, hay gente muy buena y interesante... pero tantos que viven con tanto coraje y odio contra gente diferente. Que dijo Obama, "bitter?"

Len--has pasado mucho tiempo aqui. Siempre ha sido asi?

Pues si hermana/no la verdad es que anticipamos que el primer año va a ser dificil pero tu sabes los hombres son mas impacientes que las mujeres(no se me ofendan caballeros por favor es solo una observacion) y si te digo que con mi sueldo hay vamos pasandola y gracias a Dios hasta ahora todo ha estado bien (2 meses y medio ya) y si la verdad es que le esta poniendo mucho empeño al ingles y lo importante es que ocupe su tiempo siempre en algop productivo y gracias a Dios ese es el caso,ya veremos q tiene Dios en puerta para nosotros..

Algo comun que he notado es que los jefes de mi marido siempre le ofrecen "overtime." Cuando trabajaba en UPS, le dieron el lugar con doble las cajas. Creo que lo miraban con ojos felices y pensaban "Ah, es latino, le gusta trabajar." No queria decir "no" a se jefe... pero ayyy, con que cansancio llegaba a la casa... y las palabras que salian de su boca... La verdad, me gusta que sabe trabajar, pero me sentia muy culpable pq en mexico trabajaba en una oficina. pero, ya--le gusta su trabajo y esta todo perfecto. Creo que muchos tienen que pasar por eso.

Bueno mi esposo era operador de gps pero aqui por ahora es imposible que trabaje en eso por su ingles limitado ya sabes y si igual que tu tambien me sentia un poco culpable cuando a la semana de haber venido consiguio un trabajo super pesado en construccion y le pagaban a $6 la hora,era un salario criminal para el tipo de trabajo que hacia e igual llegaba muerto de cansancio a la casa,se ve como quieren explotar a los recien llegados eso ni dudarlo...

Pero estamos optimistas y confiados en Dios q pronto hallara algo mejor...

Desafortunadamente, en VJ, como en la vida misma, nunca falta un pendejo (o muchos). Lo triste es que el que mencionaba yo es un paisano --- y sus comentarios son tan sectarios, tan reaccionarios y difamatorios (especialmente en contra de las hermanas y hermanos musulmanes) que da verguenza nacional y coraje ante el machismo tan arraigado en sus comentarios - vivir en el siglo XIX no trae mucha alegria creo yo.

Yo intento siempre esparcir paz. Yo creo que dios no me puso en esta tierra a ver a quien le parto la madre, si no para regalar de vez en cuando una sonrisa, un abrazo o palabra de apoyo a quien la necesita. Yo intento no juzgar a aquellos que piensan, creen, o viven de forma distinta. Pero hay quien sigue pensando que su manera de vivir es la unica correcta. Siento que la vida es demasiado rica en experiencias como para pensar que "el mundo de acuerdo a Len" es el unico verdadero.

Abby; ya vera que el marido encuentra pronto algo que le guste - mientras tanto yo tambien soy de la idea de hallar cualquier chambita; y comenzar a hacer conexiones y conocer gente que lo pueda ayudar. Si ustedes son asiduos a cualquier congregacion religiosa, esa es una buena forma de conocer gente.

Han de saber que hoy habra una protesta en mi campus en favor de los derechos de los inmigrantes (de TODOS banda, de todos). A guevo que voy a estar ahi mas puesta que un sombrero de charro; y ahi les contare despues como estuvo el guateque. Dicen las malas lenguas que un grupo super reaccionario llamado "The College Republicans" tenia planeado un "juego" llamado ni mas ni menos "TAG AN ILLEGAL ALIEN". Hijos de su tal por cual --- pero fue tanto el desprecio de la comunidad universitaria que al final al parecer no haran su caceria... mas les vale, porque si me agarran a mi con sus tags, no saben el pedo en el que se meten :angry:

Hey: punto de ahorro numero sabra cual: NO COMPREN CAFE EN SU SITIO DE EMPLEO -- LLEVEN SU TERMO DE CAFECITO DESDE CASA. Total ahorro semanal (basado en 3 tazas de cafe a 2.50 cada una) 77.5 USD; mensual 150 USD, anual 1,800 USD. Ademas, siempre es mas rico el cafe casero: yo le pongo una canela a mi cafecito y sabe casi como buen cafe de olla!!!!! Este punto de ahorro tambien aplica para el lunch: se ahorra uno mucha plata llevando el lonche preparado!!!!

Espero que el peque se adecue rapidito: en mi investigacion acerca de jovenes inmigrantes le puedo decir que los peques se socializan muchisimo mas rapido que los adultos; y la escuela es un factor imporantisimo para su integracion en la sociedad que les recibe.

pues que te cuento? ahi estamos el poco a poco ahorita si esta dandole al ingles con todo y gracias a Dios aprende rapido y pues yo trato de ayudarlo en lo que puedo la verdad es que si se esta ajustando bastante bien lo unico tu sabes hasta esta semana le va a tocar salir solo a un ensayo del grupo de la iglesia a la que asistimos el toca el sax y yo no lo puedo acompañar al ensayo y eso me tiene un poco nerviosilla pero ya debe de ir acostumbrandose y bueno pues como te parece que lo de la licencia se ha complicado pq resulta que hay otra persona con el mismo nombre q el y que no puede sacar licencia en el estado de NJ asi que nos han mandado a otra oficina q nos queda lejisimo ay no se tanta cosa pero con la ayuda de Dios ya pronto iremos y resolveremos eso pq fijate q trabajos si hay por aca pero si le piden la licencia y bueno a esperar y tu como estas?

Tengo la tarde leyendo sus posts y come me ayudan... Aunque me marido es el mexicano, soy la que le gusta leer todo que puedo acerca de este proceso. El dice que no me ayuda leer tanto... porque me agita... pero, pues, asi soy.

Me caen bien todos ustedes por sus palabras amables y platicas autenticas--de todo de veras.

A veces me meto en otros posts, pero despues me siento fea... por tantos pleitos que salen entre la gente. Buscaba un post con gente amable--no imagine que lo encontraria en el idioma de marido (pero, porque no? Marcos ha dicho muchas veces que extrana a su gente que te invitan a su casa por una copa con solo un dia de amistad).

Obvio que mi primer idioma es ingles y no espanol... pero si me acepten, aqui estoy.

La comprendo con eso de lo dificil que es tner una relacion de larga distancia ,pero como menciono alquien aca la espera vale la pena al final.

les deseo lo mejor y que su caso se mueva pronto.

A nosotros nos tomo 8 meses para todo el tramite.

I'm glad you read my post.. It took 4 days for my husband to go pick up his passport at cargoexpress, you can go on line and check the status on the delivery it tells you of any movement and when is eschedule to be delivered!!

We'll be praying for your guys and for a safe trip to the US and of course for a fast delivery on your passport.

So its been like 2 days (sin contar el fin de semana) since I went to the embassy.. so I guess my passport must be still there in its way to be delivered!.. Im checking the status everyday! so.. i hope to see a possitive movement before the weekend!.. Im so excited!.. So I guess it normally takes for the passport around a week to get to you right?... I wanna go to the cargoexpreso office and pick it up myself..

Is your husband there with you already??

Thanks for your prayer!.. Im a little nervous about the plane/flying.. this is my very 1st time ... so Im hoping to have Gerry with me for that but also Im preparing myself for the Adios! .. May God help me and my family go thru this!

I know it's going to be sad for you,I myself have 5 nieces and nephews that I ADORE!!!! but just think about your new life here with your future husband it's going to be great!!! and you can always go back to ES to visit,it was hard for my hsuband to say good bye to his family as well but he had me to support him when he needed it,and I'm sure gerry will also be on your side when you feel sad but most of all God will be watching over you! He's a loving God y el nos consuela cuando estamos tristes y no hay mejor consuelo q el que recibimos de nuestro padre amoroso!!!

So.. Here I am with the second part of the hisstory!

As most of you know, I had 2 interviews

Interview #1 was like a pre-interview, submition of required documentation.. etc.. I got a yellow page telling me to present on the 27th..

Interview 2 (March 27th).. the actual interview...

Gerry came down on the 25th to be with me at the interview... It was really good to have him here... to feel his support ..

Together, we prepared all the evidence for the interview.. He brought more evidence He had at home... so we had plenty of info to show

The Appoiment was for 12M.. we were at the embassy by 11.25AM... We were super nervous.. anxious.. ... trying to relax was an imposible thing to do!..

So.. one lady asked us (all the people called that day for an interview) to go make a line to check the letter we had and to see if we were on the list... I was the #2!!.. after going thru that checking... we get in the embassy! around 12m...my fiance was not allowed to get in the interview place... so I was by myself but He was outside waiting for me ... and sweating! going crazy! ...

we were told to go and deposit the letter/page we had with the date and time name, etc.. in a window... Around 12.45PM... I was called to do the taking finger tips thing... I sat again... I waited for like 15 or 20 minutes more... when I was called the second time.. this time I was going to be interviewed by the consular officer...

When I arrived to the window.. I saw a young, nice, smiley and good looking woman... around 5 month pregnat ... She was extremly kind and nice.. and here is the interview itself.. sort of

Consular Officer: Hi! How are you?

Debbie: Fine thanks! and you?

C.O: Im fine thanks (she smiled).. So tell me how did you and your fiance meet?

D: We met in a single christians website back in Sept '06...blah blah... 4 months latter... he finally came down to meet me in person.. and since then he has been down 7 times! (the C.O made a surprised face..lol)

C.Oo is this your first marriage? are you single?

D: Yes this is my 1st marriage.. Im single yes...

C.O: and your fiance?

D: he is divorced.. I got the divorce decree with me.. would you like to see it?

C.O: No, its not necessary.. we got all the information we need here.

C.O: What does he do for living?

D: Truck Driver.. works for blah blah...

C.O: Do you have family in the US?

D: No mrs I dont...

C.O: Not even a cousin, nephew..?

D: Anyone ( she smiled at me saying ok gotcha )

C.O: Does your fiance speak english?

D: No he doesnt we speak english allt he time and the couple of words in spanish he knows He has learn from me...

C.O: (She switch from spanish to english)...So you speak english?

D: yes mrs. I do..

C.O: Where did you learn english?

D: Well.. I've been studying for over 6 years already in different places... And im currently studying English Teaching at UCA...

C.O: Then yes, you can speak english... and tell me How many times has your fiance been here to visit you?

D: He has been down for 7 times... and he is actually outside waiting for me..

C.O:Thats great!... so tell me Have you had any problems with the police?

D: No I havent.. cause Im a good girl I said... and she smiled

C.O: Are you planning to go back to US with your fiance?

D: Yes I am.. If I get my visa on time I will love to to travel with him..

C.O: Ok Debora.. Everything is Ok with your paperwork.. and you can get your visa.. Withing a week you will be receiving your visa.

D: Thanks!

C.O: Your welcome

(I walked away but I went back to the window)

Debbie: Excuse me... Did I get my visa aprooved?

Consul: Of course you did... You will get it in a week!

D: Ok!.. Thanks alot!.. and congrats for the baby!

I left the window and I just started running... to go tell Gerry the great news!.. he just heard me running and He knew it!.. then when I was out of the interview place... I was just yelling.. "Honey we did it!.. We got it!.."... then we just hugged and cried together!.. it was a wonderful and amazing moment!

Only a few simple questions!!...wow!

Sorry I got carried away!.. but this has been one of the greatest experiences of my whole life!

We spent the rest of the days gerry was here... trying to process everything... and trying to beleive that this is for real!

So for all those who are going thru this K1 visa.. hang in there!!!.. your time will come... I know its hard and frustating... but the time will come! and if you trust God with your heart!.. things will go by smooth and wonderful and super amazing!!!

And always be prepared!
