  1. Maybe. There's never guarantees. US citizen kid and spouse are ties to the US. Yes, you can apply for spousal visa in the future.
  2. The problem is, there is no solid consistent evidence proving filing I-129F works. We know K-3 gets closed when I-130 gets approved, but we don't have anything to indicate K-3 forces decision on I-130. The only thing USCIS will honor with great level of success is Writ of Mandamus. Everything else provides mostly psychological relief for petitioner (e.g. something is happening, case isn't fully stuck because I'm getting replies and various updates)
  3. If you had full custody of kids, I don't think you're expected to prove child support. Were you ordered by court to pay child support after divorcing?
  4. Writ of Mandamus. This is the real method to get attention. It's not free though.
  5. In my interview, officer read questions exactly how they were in preparation material. I believe officers are required to read them as written.
  6. Yes, both main and joint sponsors need to file it when they move. Within 30 days of moving. Better file late than never.
  7. Depends on how they come. If they come on immigrant visa, they don't need to adjust.
  8. Children must be lawful permanent residents living with their parent in the US to become citizens as far as I know.
  9. I don't see it as a big problem, but obviously can't guarantee anything
  10. Totally agree with you on this one. OP should not delay N-400. They should apply as soon as eligible. N-600 for child is a nice thing to have in the future, when parent or kid can afford it. In most cases yes, US passport is sufficient proof of child's citizenship.
  11. Yes, they say a lot of things. Last time they said my naturalization case would take 7 months, but it took 3.5. I wouldn't want to bloat this topic with examples (news reports and immigration forums) where US passport wasn't enough to establish US citizenship. I just know the problem exists.
  12. I have Global Entry and Global Entry card. Even though it says my US citizenship on it, I wouldn't rely on it as solid proof. It may be accepted by CBP, but acceptance by other agencies is to be proven, there's not much data on whether SSA would accept it to prove US citizenship. Federal employers, I can almost guarantee, wouldn't see Global Entry card as credible proof of citizenship. I'm saying this, because I know somebody who's US passport and US passport card weren't sufficient to prove citizenship. Employer demanded naturalization certificate specifically. Global entry is also available to citizens of certain countries like Germany, without even having any permanent status in the US. A German citizen can get GE and travel to US on ESTA as a tourist.
  13. The following states issue EDLs: Michigan Minnesota New York Vermont Washington Source: https://www.dhs.gov/enhanced-drivers-licenses-what-are-they How to get Real ID in each of these states: Michigan - https://www.michigan.gov/sos/license-id/real-id Minnesota - https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/dvs/license-and-id/dl-and-id-card-information/real-id-dl-and-id-card New York - https://dmv.ny.gov/driver-license/enhanced-or-real-id Vermont - https://dmv.vermont.gov/licenses/types-of-licenses-ids/real-id Washington - https://dol.wa.gov/id-cards/real-id - only EDL available, no Real ID. Looks like you're from Washington state? In this case, I understand your prior comments about Real ID and the fact people in your state cannot get this Real ID compliant document without being a US citizen. If my state offered EDL, I'd get it. But I still would get and keep safe certificate of citizenship / certificate of naturalization due to reasons outlined earlier.
  14. 39M and 27F isn't a big enough gap to worry about.
  15. I'd say it's a lot more important when somebody actually filed the case, no so much when they filled it. August-September is when many filers here should see some movement. Not guaranteed, but let's hope for that. Good luck!
  16. They'll take your GC away any time you naturalize and take oath, whether your daughter is under or over 18. No, they won't. You'll file passport application form DS-11 and pay all the fees to get yourself a US passport. She'll get it same way as you. By filing form DS-11 and paying all the fees for it. She'll have to prove how she's a citizen. Proving she's a citizen now is easier, because you just naturalized, you have all papers, and alive. Many years down the road (say 40 years from now), you may no longer be alive, and she can be asked how she is a US citizen when renewing a US passport, getting benefits at SSA or getting a job requiring special security clearance. They may not be happy with just US passport and ask for certificate. This is why N-600 is a good idea. You don't have to do it to get her passport, don't have to do it this year. But at some point, it's a good idea to do it.
  17. "Just" a proof is sometimes what really matters, and becomes a deciding factor whether somebody gets a tangible benefit or doesn't. That's true She absolutely can and should. Great idea. The only caveat, passport and passport card are issued by DOS, and not USCIS. Sometimes government agencies and employers really need certificate of citizenship, else goodbye. REAL ID has nothing to do with citizenship status. It can be issued to anybody on temporary visas, even to tourist, as long as they give correct documentation proving legal status. You may be confusing it with EDL. But EDL is only issued by few states, and EDL is only issued to US citizens. Levels of difficulty getting citizenship proved: - Now - EASY - after 5 years - MEDIUM - after 10 years - somewhat HARD - after 20 years - potentially DIFFICULT As you may know, over the time, people forget details, lose paperwork. Agencies lose records. 1 document showing undebatable proof of citizenship is worth getting sooner than later. Passports were known to be issued in error by DOS, and were and are questioned from time to time by agencies.
  18. The easiest way is to print all pages, sign and scan everything back. You may find doing something else may take more time. It's a 5 minute task
  19. Cannot recommend a particular one because it would be advertising. But there's plenty services online. They're pretty affordable and get translations in 24-48 hrs. Just Google it and check top 10 results.
  20. Thank you, I'm sure it's somewhat pointless, as PC should be accepted everywhere. But who knows, maybe some place will reject it. Then I'll pull Palau digital resident ID out of my wallet 😃
  21. Do not send information suggesting he lives at the same address when in fact he doesn't. How often do you see each other? Do you have documentation showing how you maintain your marriage (visiting each other etc)? What's the long term plan for living situation? Did he file I-865 within 30 days of moving? He's obliged as a sponsor.
