  1. Tax implications of being US LPR, travel and work restrictions while waiting for GC, restricted time outside of the US once she becomes LPR, medical insurance.
  2. I got mine in about 2 weeks after approval. But can take 4-6
  3. What case do you have? Here's a good place to start search: https://www.ailalawyer.com/
  4. It doesn't look like USCIS is happy with this sponsor. Any chance you can find a different joint sponsor who can submit 2023 taxes? What sort of assets does the current sponsor has?
  5. N-336 - $780 N-400 - $710 $70 invested in an index fund with average annual return of 7% would grow to about $532 in 30 years.
  6. Interesting observation. I'd also look into the following factors: - filers with pending I-751 vs without - filers applying under 3 vs 5 year rule - filers applying inside 90 day early filing window vs well beyond that
  7. Interesting. Based on what I'm reading on VJ it takes 1.5-2 months just to get receipts for most of cases. 3-6 months seems super optimistic. I'm sure it happens to some cases, but not sure I'm convinced it's the norm. Keep us updated!
  8. Apparently online renewals are quite successful. I'd give it a try. I wouldn't apply for an immigration benefit if it was in beta though 😃
  9. Whatever they say on the phone is not official. Only what they send by mail. Tier 1 officers often make things up to get people off the phone so I would be doubting anything they say
  10. Checked processing times for California... San Fran, LA, Sacramento, San Diego... More like 18-20 months in large CA cities...
  11. I think AOS takes about a 1-1.5 years nowadays with few exceptions?
  12. If you don't travel once you apply, they won't have a chance to deny based on that.
  13. Agreed. Also worth remembering about filing in 90 day early filing window... People don't typically get interviewed / naturalized in the 90 day window. Wonder if @namitxyz filed outside or inside 90 day window.
  14. USCIS mess up all the time unfortunately. I think if you can get a copy and resend - that's the path of least resistance.
  15. 1. Re-entry permit is for green card holders who want to leave the US for up to 2 years without losing their residency. You need Advance Parole, this is for people with pending adjustment of status. 2. As of April 1, 2024 fees for I-131 and I-765 are paid separately and not included in I-485 fees.
  16. As previously discussed, if your husband (sponsor) makes enough to sponsor you, don't bother including your income.
  17. I would do just that too. Attend the interview - the risk of issues with rescheduling is minimal this way. And you can enjoy the trip knowing you'll become the citizen once you're back 😊
  18. What name did you use in I-485? Married or maiden? Sometimes it's just easier to change name as part of N-400 to avoid all of this hassle now during immigration process. With everything updated in the US, how easy would it be for her to update the name in foreign passport?
  19. The cleanest way is to finalize previous relationship before committing to the new one. You may be asked why you are engaged while still legally married to the other person. I don't believe you're breaking any laws and people got their K-1s in similar circumstances, but it may require more relationship evidence etc.
  20. How can you prove domicile with outdated DL? Going there, registering to vote at indending address etc etc can only reduce chances of any hiccups in the process.
  21. +100 fmto this. Forms are glitchy, better fill them on computer and save copies
