    Hi Everyone,

    Just wondering if anyone has any updates on their CR1/IR1 cases into the New Year?

    I've been DQ'd on 8th of Feb and just trying to get a rough idea of what sort of timeline we are looking at to get the interview.

    Also, does the priority date of your case play into where you sit in line for an interview. Say, if there are two people with the same DQ date, does the one with an earlier priority date get the interview first?

    @SimonNH
    1. My interview is next week, and I got DQ'd in October

    2. The priority date is irrelevant, they're only concerned about DQ date

    3. I'd recommend joining "K-1 and CR-1 VISA Process for Aussies" on Facebook,  there's a very good support network there.

  2. I have an upcoming interview for my CR1/IR1 visa at the Sydney Consulate in Australia.

    My wife and I both live Australia, and therefore we are using assets on the affidavit of support submission. We definitely have sufficient assets, however, my wife has had her bank account in the USA since she was a kid and therefore her mum's name is also on the account (i.e. it's a joint account).

    Do you think this would be an issue at the interview? Does anyone have any previous experience with this?

    Hello! I'm in the stage of having my DQ but waiting for an interview from Sydney Consulate. I'm just wondering if anyone who has recently received an interview letter can tell me how far out the interview date is from when you received the letter?? Thanks in advance.

    @AshleyB I've just got my interview date (21st March 2023) and my DQ date was mid October 2022.

    Join the K-1 and CR-1 VISA Process for Aussies group on Facebook, lot's of very helpful people & information

    I believe that as a British citizen, you can request to do your interview in London.

    Is your case already doc qualified, and if so, is it still at the NVC?

    It's doc qualified and still with NVC, just trying to find out if someone has any success or experience doing the same recently.

  5. Just wondering if anyone has recently changed their originally designated consulate to London recently for CR-1/IR-1 processing?

    I'm a British citizen, but currently reside in Australia. The projected DQ to interview timeframe at the Sydney Consulate is 8-10 months, so if there's an opportunity to shorten this timeframe I'd be interested in reducing it.

    I am thrilled for you that Whitney at Sen Merkley’s office really helped.  Did she say she knew about the reason code problem?  We might’ve been ones to alert her, maybe.  Our Oregon immigration lawyer thinks highly of her!  It seems only US congress men/women have a phone line directly to NVC.  And they WILL try to help.

    It’s such a LONG trek, legal immigration, and too many hoops!  I’m sorry the wait line for interview at US consulate in Australia is long.  I’ve heard it’s 8-9 months.  Is that what you have?

    My English hubby is a Taiwan resident and after he was DQd about Sept 29, his interview in Taipei was set two months out. Fingers crossed that we’re together in Oregon before Christmas!!

    Best wishes to you both for swift results and happy times ahead!!

    Will you settle in Oregon?  We’ll be in a Portland suburb.

    My Australian police check was fine thankfully, we had issues with the NZ police check which she sorted out.

    Sadly it does look like a 6-8 month wait, but at least we’re in the queue. Thankfully we both live in Australia, so we’re not having to deal with separation etc.

  7. @EKT and @JoshandSarah can you confirm exactly what you uploaded to NVC?

    We've just been rejected for "not providing an NZ police certificate" by NVC, even though we did the following;

    1. Uploaded my Section 14 form and confirmation email from the NZ Police Vetting Service

    2. Confirmed with the Auckland Consulate that they issued the certificate to NVC and the Sydney Consulate (where I'll be processed)

    We're really struggling to work out what we did wrong, and how we can avoid the same thing happening again in 3 months time!

  8. I've just had my NZ Police Certificate rejected by NVC, for those who've had theirs accepted, could you let me know what you uploaded?

    We uploaded the following;

    - Section 14 Vetting Request Form

    - Confirmation email from NZ Police that my vetting had been processed

    - Covering letter explaining the fact we never receive the certificate, and therefore can't upload one.

    Any direction would be greatly appreciated, this is now our second RFE from NVC and it's beginning to take it's toll.

    Hi Chanel, unfortunately they never responded to my review. I called back after 6 weeks and that was actually when they had closed their phone line due to high volume of work. I wrote in an email and never got a response. In the end we put in for an expedite request which was accepted. My case is now with the embassy in Bern and I will bring in my certificates to the interview. I requested two new certificates - one the same as above but with the German spelling of my name (with an umlaut), and I did another one with fingerprints.

    If I figure out what went wrong, I will let you know!

    @haiku just wondering how you managed to get your case expedited?

    Got DQ'd today!

    My wife called the Auckland Consulate three times and did not get very far - eventually the lady on the phone conceded she could not access the system that sends the police certificate to the NVC and recommended we email so a consular officer could review.

    So I emailed the Consulate (all three email addresses) asking them to (1) resend my police certificate to the NVC (2) to ask the NVC to review it again without going to the back of the line. The Consulate sent me an email yesterday confirming that on 4 March 2022 the NVC confirmed to them that they received my police certificate and marked it against my file - but not that they had resent it or anything.

    Then today, literally while on hold to the NVC to request a review, they DQ'd me. I can only assume the consulate sent them a message in the background!

    I've just had a similar RFE to yourself, although I uploaded the Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Check. (I missed that you needed the Police Vetting check).

    Just submitted the Section 14 form to the NZ police, and uploaded evidence of the submittal onto the CEAC portal. Hopefully doesn't put to the back of the line...........

    One of the documents I replaced so the date didn't change. The other document I deleted then replaced, which made the date the re-submission date.

    Thanks for clarifying,.

    I've just had to replace one of my documents, so trying to determine if that puts my review to the back of the line?
