  1. just a random nothing. we're moving back to cali from austin, went to pick up the uhaul, and standard, we got the newfie trailer. im gonna make him throw on his newfie flag on the antenna

  2. I have a good tolerance built up, so hangovers are rare. If anything, I will get a mild headache sometimes, but usually I am fine the next day. Just tired mostly cuz I have an internal alarm clock that wakes me up at the same time every morning no matter how late I am up lolol. I hate that. I guess it helps that I've learned my drinking lessons from when I was younger, but I will say, open bar = game over lol. w00t i have two of those coming up in vegas in two weeks. sigh gg liver

  3. Note to all:

I went to renew my own (USC) Texas DL in late May, and the clerk said that the computers in Austin (state capital) are being changed over. It is taking people 6 to 8 WEEKS to receive their licenses. She issued me a temporary license, even though I was "good and early" (current license doesn't expire till mid-July). She said that if I hadn't received my new license by the time the temporary one expired (late July), I should visit again for another temporary license.

My current license was good for 10 years; the new one will apparently be good for 6 years.

you will get it exactly one month after you went in. we just got ours and that's what happened (we did it from austin too and got the whole story). and the GC holders, they look the same, they only mark it on the computer. (at least that's what they told us). new design sucks though lol looks so cheesy

  4. we got one of the magellan ones from costco too (but its stolen now, obv going to get another lol). thing works great. took us from newfoundland canada, to cali, to vegas, to texas, and want it to go back to cali. but not cuz we don't know the way, i think my husband likes it because its easier to jump in the car and punch in an addy then find it on google maps or something. all the maps that we needed were already in. it had some software that we didn't use because it just worked on its own. never stuck it to the window i guess cuz it would bug us, we just put it in his ashtray in the car and it fit in there perfectly. thing talks at you and gives you a two mile warning when you have to do something, so i think he just peaked at it when it talked cuz i was in the car behind him most the time anyways.

  5. they're GC holders though, and shouldn't have had a problem. I think they messed up and i would go back. we have chase too, and husband had no problems. they didn't want to see his green card, just the visa in his passport and some random credit card with his name on it. they did it no problem. maybe make sure to tell them you have a PR in the states. i was with my hubby when we added him though

  6. At least once a week while shopping, I get approached by women wanting me to join some Mary Kay leadership something or other. Then I spend the next ten minutes with my fingers in my ears repeating "No, no. no!" until they finally get the hint. I would mind so much if they had the grace to back of when asked to. Today's was particularly difficult to dislodge.

Next time it happens I'm going to ask if she's gotten permission to be in the store bothering the customers and then I'm going to complain to the store manager.

you have to master the no eye contact rule. seems to work most the time, but if they start talking i just go no and just keep walking. they get the hint fast lol.

  7. Why don't your husband scan all of the documents and sent them to you via-email.

He mailed me the copy of his affidavit of support packet that he submitted to the NVC...including the tax transcripts, paystubs, all my personal letters to him and the rest of the documents we might need for the interview. So a scanned form I-864 and tax transcripts is fine? The embassy wont be looking for the original documents?

copies are fine because the originals were sent to NVC.

  8. They probably will already have the documents, but even hubby and I brought the extras to the interview. We made two copies of everything we sent, so you can have your husband scan them and email to you. Or if you can't get the actual transcripts in time (assuming he doesn't have an extra copy), have him email you his 1040 and W-2's. The odds of you needed this are slim, but always nice to have.

  9. lol i think he's building a good stalking/harassment/defamation case for her. dude needs to get out and find someone else and get over it. maybe go post on a divorce forum.

Maybe. It does look like he is basically being accused of a crime though. I don't think I have ever seen some one go this far to make sure the SO is sent home. Given the circumstances, I hope she gets sent home with a permanent ban (don't quote me regs - I know, I know). This kind of story gives a bad name to lots of K visa applicants for no good reason. I think it is a good thing when a scammer is made an example of. Too bad the ex has to pay for most of the evidence gathering.

well really there isn't much he can do, and he should just ignore her and move on. He might actually get himself into some trouble with all the ####### he is posting all over the internet. i think he just has issues in general, and of course, there is two sides to the story. so whatever floats his boat i guess.

  10. we kept all canadian funds in a canadian account, just made his checking into savings, and hardly touch it due to the transaction fee (though less than their regular 11 bucks a month that the checking was lolz), and his IE is getting thrown in there.

  11. People on road2canada have filed outland applications inside of Canada (i suppose for two reasons, outland you can appeal, inland you cannot and also you can leave and not ruin your inland app by not being let back in for the interview), so it is doable since you send everything in the beginning anyways, but have to return to the US for interview. I guess what they did was prove they sent the support part of the process and brought that letter with them when crossing. maybe ask your plan over there (road2canada.com).

  12. right now, its about a week it seems. hubby ticked the box, but had to go in, so don't bother waiting for it. since i've read that they usually come before the greencard, then the greencard shows up, i realized it wasn't coming on its own, so made a trip down on a tuesday, had it monday.

This is exactly the topic I was looking for. My husband's POE isn't till end of this month but wasn't sure if I should take him to the SS office next day. Is it too soon? Should I wait couple days, maybe a week? I am bit tight on time since we're planning a trip to Canada in August and need SS card and other stuff (ex. Driver License).

Someone might know for sure, but I don't know if something happens in the "system" for them to know. When we went in, the lady didn't even look at the actual green card and just used his passport to do everything, and I said they were supposed to send one since we checked the box on the DS-230 and she looked and said that one wasn't issued yet, so she just took care of it. But that was less than a month after crossing, so it can be done fairly fast lol.

  13. there is no "registration" for us mail, however, it may not be a bad idea to let the regular postman/woman that delivers your mail know about the new name.

this, just let the postmaster know your last name. usually they don't care, i know mine didn't. but i know the people at social security say let them know. but again, i didn't bother to do that, since my husband was already getting some mail with his name on it from the visa process. I also notice that sometimes the mail person puts a sticky note in your mailbox with the last names that get delivered to there. probably only if they screw up alot or in those multiple boxes ones lolz.
