Yeah I wouldn't rely on the sticker. DMV might check the sticker, but border patrol wanted the compliance letter.

Unfortunately, the ones husband brought to the interview, are the ones they used on the Green Card and the Visa. and lolol he looks scared in that pic. I guess he closed his eyes the first time they took a pic, so he was trying to hold them open. I wished they used some of the other ones we sent in, but oh well lol

In Austin, husband only had to hand over his Canadian license. No driving or written test. That was in June this year.

can you just order a certified copy of her old birth certificate? that's what i would do

yielding just means to slow down and look around to make sure if its safe to proceed. if its not, you stop and wait, if its ok, go back to normal. maybe you guys have the yellow light intersections or you're driving through a neighborhood with no stop signs, then yes, slow down, look around, make sure there is nothing to run over, then go.

Yes but like I said, colleges offer certificate programs that aren't two years long. Check out what you want to study and see which local school has something. And since it sounds like you already have college credits, transfer them and use it, so it wouldn't be two years and save money. 14k is pretty high. Plus, if you don't like to go to class, take the online classes (if they're offered).
-
Go to a community college and take classes for what you need. It would be way way cheaper. They offer certificate programs for various areas. Check into those programs they offer.

If she threatens to kill herself again, call the cops and have her taken to get help. Even if she is bluffing most the time, she needs a wake up call to grow up. You aren't forced to do anything, if you want a divorce, then get one. If you want to try and work it out, maybe go speak to someone. I think she won't say much to your friend's and family, but even if she does, I bet they are going to take your side anyways. If you do leave and start a divorce, just stay away from her so she can't get the police involved.

Thought I'd follow up on this. I met Ellie a couple weeks ago. She's absolutely lovely.
I helped Ellie move out yesterday. She is in a very safe place and absolutely no one but the worker who is helping secure her supports knows (as in, even I don't know, they took her to location different than where I dropped them off). She doesn't know many people, and yes, people she met here through some local cultural groups abandoned her in all of this. Both she and Brad are very very relieved. The people who helped her are amazing. I won't even say who, to protect her. They gave her great advice, and took all of this very seriously.
Brad I hope you stick around and update on your case and what is happening. I know you were so stressed out about all of this. Ellie has really showed how responsible, resourceful, and strong she is, she dealt with this so calmly and effectively.
Take care,
K
Huge Kudos going out to you! Everyone else too!!!!
Yes, that's very awesome to help her out and good to know she is safe.

I have very few pieces of picture ID. I have a DL and a passport and that's it. I had a friend who drove without a DL throughout high school and university but he has one now. If the passport is expired less than one year then Passport Canada will take it, which is what I posted above. What picture ID did you show at the border and how long has it been expired?
I showed Health Card, it has been expired for over a year.
well, i guess the only two options you have is, wing it and file AOS with an expired ID and hope they don't care, but looks like you can get a Proof of Citizenship card even though you were born in Canada, but at least it would be a picture ID, if you have these things:you have never had a citizenship certificate and you were born in Canada
* A birth certificate issued by the appropriate provincial or territorial authority
* Two (2) pieces of personal identification, such as a driver’s licence and a health insurance card
* Other documents, such as a marriage certificate/divorce certificate and/or a legal name change certificate (if applicable)
Though i dunno if they care if its expired. maybe talk to them. They say even if you have a birth certificate, you can get one of these. but they might think its silly, but its a picture id that you might be able to get so you can get a passport
I will have to look into that, but if they require two piece of picture ID, I'm SOL.
doesn't say two picture ID's, I'd assume you only need one. My husband's health card didn't have his pic on it, so i don't think that is normal in every province. its like getting a DL here, you show your old ID and your social security card, they usually just want to see names matching.

What state do you live in? Have you tried to get a state ID? I saw you post about Texas dr's so I assume you live there. Do you have an expired DL at all? You might be able to get an ID, but I know how crazy they are about using things from Canada, even though their website says they accept it.
I'm actually in Ohio. I called the BMV this morning and they said that they could not issue a State ID without a GC.
Do you have any photo ID?
Well, there's the million dollar question.
Yes, I do.
Do I have valid picture ID?
No.
The only (expired) picture ID I have, is the one I showed at the border.
How does one go through life without any other picture ID? I guess you never drove? I guess Canada is different than USA, but man, I've had some sort of picture ID since I was 16. Looks like passport Canada won't except something expired unless its a recently expired passort (i think someone already said this)

True but looks are everything in getting a relationship started. Don't kid yourself; I two are not attracted to each other (and I mean physically) then any other attraction may not be sufficient enough to make the relationship work.
Oh, I'm not kidding myself in the least. I realize that looks are important. Looking at your picture I must say you are too old, overweight, pasty and unattractive to appeal to me in the slightest. No offense, you just aren't my type. Perhaps you have a great personality but I would never get to know that for judging you based solely upon looks. Obviously, I admit to being superficial too but I still think it is sad we live in such a thoroughly superficial world. But at the end of the day, I think men and women's preferences go back to biology. The male wants the woman he perceives to be the most fertile which in the past as in the present usually translates to an attractive, young woman. The woman wants the man that would provide the greatest amount of security and protection for her and her offspring. In the past that meant the biggest and most successful hunter/warrior, today it means the guy with a big paycheck even if he is a goofy little computer geek. Hence you see some beautiful supermodels with some silly looking but rich twerps. But now women working has changed things so women with high salaries can choose to remain single and still have kids (or not) or pick a man based upon looks or that is equally successful and sometimes even less so.
Honestly, if I'd met my husband in a bar I probably would have walked right past him and not given him a first let alone a second look because I prefer men that are really tall. I just wanted to point out that judging based upon looks is no different than judging based upon income and ultimately goes back to biology and the most beautiful women usually have the highest expectations with regards to income. So obviously an ugly man with a moderate to low income will have to go to a 3rd world country where his income will look far more attractive to the local beauties. Steve just doesn't seem to get that the beautiful women he is courting still have their standards but those standards are based upon 3rd world economics where he will stand a better chance rather than 1st world economics where he doesn't. Like Donna said, women have every right to have financial standards. Having a family is expensive and if a woman wants children then the smartest thing for her to do is find a man that makes enough for them to afford as many children as they want. It might be crass but it is also being a damn good mother by choosing a responsible and reliable mate to help provide for their offspring. Personally, I don't want children so I don't care if my husband never makes over $40k and I've long gotten over the fact that he isn't tall since he is so sweet, considerate and smart. To be honest, he is a far nicer and less superficial person than I am so I probably don't deserve him but I'm not going to let him go.
I agree with this. You read my mind lol. But I won't lie, I married my husband because I liked his sideburns

I hope your fiance finds a safe place. After reading a few of your posts, even I am worried. Hope things work out and you get the advice you need.

Did it back in 2004, too easy. Went thru Maine. had a list of al my stuff, dont have to get crazy on the list, you can group things together. I didnt pick any particular lane. drove up to the POE, stated i was here to activate my CR-1, he said ok, pull on in over in a parking spot and go inside. Went inside, gave the mysterious do not open brown enevelope to a POE official, they took my pic, I answered some basic questions, gave my inventory list to a customs dude, he barely even looked at it and i was on my way. Didnt even look inside the truck!
We went through the maine border too (think it was the same, houlton maine, not the weird calais one). Went to the regular lane, made us pull over go inside too. He took the list of what was in the trailor, and of course didn't look. (might have been a good thing since it was -34 when we crossed, i don't think the lock would've opened lol).

I would assume some would. When my husband had his interview, there were K-1's there with us.

Yes!! Original or certified copy.
Actually No, the DS-230 pertains to the Beneficiarys info, not the petitioners, but you made need the petitioners divorce decres at the interview. Check on Lings short cuts, no mention of divorce decree for petitioner for the DS-230 packet.
That is what I thought. DS230 pertains to beneficiery. Although it doesn't hurt to include my (petitioner's) divorcee decree, i don't want to confuse things.
Just send what is required. I checked Ling's short cut and it says divorcee decree (but doesn't say beneficiary or petitioner)..
The DS-230 pertains to the beneficiary, its all their information, and documents. Nothing on the Petitioner there. Not even a signature for the Petitoner required for DS-230 form.
One last thing, Im the petitioner, I was divorced, I did NOT send my divorce decree with the DS-230 for my husband the beneficary, and I finished NVC and have a interview. Now does that answer your question???
she is correct. the USC should've already sent it in with the I-130, so don't need to send it again. just keep a copy handy if it somehow disappears on its way to the embassy/consulate
At USCIS you can send a photocopy, but in NVC you are required to submit original copies.
Checked the website for travel.state.gov, a copy of either petitioner or beneficiary must submit their original Divorce Decree for this will be submitted to the US Embassy where the interview will occur. However, for assurance during the interview you have to bring another original copy of it for NVC might lost it during the whole process.
again, the ds-230 has nothing to do with the USC. it doesn't ask if the USC was priviously married. i didn't send mine in. i sent my certified copy to uscis, we were approved long ago
