  1. Well, they watch you for speeding, if you're checking your mirrors and blind spots, if you use your turn signal, and just basic stuff. Since he know the route now, he should go thru it, watch for all the speed changes (I know here they make us go on a road that changes speed like 3 times in like a mile) and all the stuff. I guess read the book again, or just remember 15mph for railroad tracks, 25 for residential unless posted otherwise, etc. Other than that, it shouldn't be too bad.

  2. You guys sound both way to young or just immature. Maybe in time she will talk to you. Maybe she won't. You both need to work on communicating without arguing or blaming. You are just going to end up in a vicious cycle of fighting it obviously just won't work. You both don't seem to have set your priorities to being together and having a solid future yet. But of course it is your life, but I'd just say give her some space, maybe just leave her a message to maybe talk to you about everything later when she is ready.

  3. Disrtegard all that, I had it backwards, my problem now establishing why Ford says I need daytime running lights.

    So confusing.

Does your letter day that you need to have the Day-Running lights disabled? Cause that is what my letter said and I never had it done. The border officer never even asked to see the import letter. Big waste of $100. Blah.

yeah ours POE officer saw the letter, but daytime running lights is a non issue for hubby's car.

  4. Kid arrested over fake id

Okay so, yeah it's against the law. But, admittedly, when I went to university I had just turned 18 and some girl in Res gave me one. I can't imagine having being caught and arrested. I would assumed I would have gotten taken away and told not to come back to the store like I saw happen to other kids.

You know, I often wonder about arrests and silly things like this. I wonder how many people in the US are in jail for things that maybe a fine would have taken care of. What's the worst that could have happened? The kid had a couple of beers and got tipsy? He's 19, not 10.

    Don't know.

They will always get out the next day or earlier, depending on when they see the judge. and will most likely pay a fine. And since its not a felony, it wouldn't matter in california, only three felony strikes matter.

Still causing over crowding of the jail system there.

only on weekends in the drunk tank, since that's most likely where this dude sat.

  6. Why not put your name on the lease and then add his name after he has been working for six months? If you can get him a credit card in the meantime, he would also have built up six months worth of credit (better than nothing).

My husband (then fiance) moved to the States halfway through my lease. I knew that this would be evidence that we would need at the next round with USCIS so I asked my landlord to create an addendum to my lease so that he could be added to it. We never had any problems or questions from USCIS either.

Also, I never did verify this, but we were told that just adding someone to an existing credit card account will not enable them to build credit; they need to apply for their own card.

they live in texas, i'm pretty sure anyone over the age of 18 has to be on the lease. but i guess go to an apartment hunter place, they are free (or e-mail them) and tell them your situation. they know where to look where they won't grade so much on credit, and get an employment letter with your husband's income on it. they might make you pay a little more deposit, but texas deposits always seem low to me.

  7. i've done the ar-11 online and never got anything in the mail, but obv saved the copy with that weirdo number. i guess it doesn't matter since we ended up so far where we started.

as far as a new addy before POE, you can change it at POE. they asked us if the address was the right one when crossing.

  8. I stayed with my husband too in Canada the entire time. I had domiclie issues at interview, but never had to prove it beforehand. Just be advised, if you wish to leave Canada before your 6 months, or basically ever, you have a huge chance of being denied. As far as my actual domicile, seems like montreal was eager to see a lease, even if its with a parent and also current tax returns. so you would most likely have smooth sailing until interview time. then just bring as many things possible to prove domicile. bank account and voting didn't cut it for me (though i did send it in anyways since the interviewer wouldn't look at it).

  9. Our CR-1 took 9 months, which is about average, K-1's, I dunno they seem close, I guess it depends on where you interview and which service center. we had california. i'd start looking at stats, though i will say, when we filed, california was taking longer, then something happened where they started going faster. obv cr-1's are cheaper, but k-1's do tend to be a bit faster. since you have a child, consider the costs involved with the AOS. i

if you k-1, you have to get married in the US. any other option, doesn't matter. more recent filers can give you a timeline, or you can check it out how fast they're going on the stats pages. as far as safety concerns, get a restraining order

  10. Hi when they gave my husband the paper, all it stated was that they could not issue the visa at this time under 21g, and to complete processing of the case he must submit the letter that they asked for.

the paper never stated that he was in review or he was denied or anything like that.

Does this mean that hes pending checks or something, i thought they just label it as 21g until they receive what they are asking for, am i right?

    i hope everything goes quickly.

you are fine. when they get the paper, start emailing the consulate to find out when its approved. every place is different. ours took about 2 weeks after submitting the extra things they wanted, but that was in montreal.

  11. i always wonder about that form, but i guess everything will get sent to my mom's anyways, so it won't get too lost lol. i have to fill out the i-865 again, but now i changed my last name, i dunno which one to use cuz i don't want to confuse them :( im still debating, since it just changed like 3 weeks ago and i was obv late with changing my name.

  12. My fiance forgot to lock his car and someone stole my new GPS! :ranting: I thought we lived in a nice quiet neighborhood?! Welcome to the USA Amanda, geez.

happened to us too. hubby claims he always locks his car, but obv unless the gps decided to magically walk away.

  13. i caused a scene, but that's cuz im a psycho american chick who was ready to gtfo of canada. :D

Did causing a scene help? If it did I would love to learn exactly what you did so that I can do the same!

lol no, I don't think so cuz i wouldn't have had to send anything back lol, but I just faxed in what she was asking and it was approved after that. i was crying and saying why would i even petition for my husband if we didn't want to leave. told her i refuse to leave with out him, and all this ####### lol. i said how ridiculous it is to ask for a lease with my mother. i like you had all the goodies, bank account, proof of voting, etc. which she wouldn't look at so i just sent that in with the lease with my mom, some car insurance, and some other things i could do. i guess i could've brought a moving quote or something, but we did it ourselves anyways and didn't reserve a u-haul till we actually had his passport back.

So you faxed that stuff in? I thought it had to be mailed, plus they want my passport back for that as well.

So all these responses seem to validate my idea that he's just being a jerk. Seriously why would anyone go through all this hassle just to say that they're not moving. And then they basically ask for the same information that they have already been sent, why not say specifically what they're looking for to begin with!!

yeah we faxed it, she said we could fax or mail. we could've left the passport at the interview, but we took it anyways. and then i emailed them to find out if it was approved and just mailed the passport back when they said it was good to go (we left the mailer with them already for them to send it back).
